The timeless relationship between a boy and his dog is a story that’s been told a million times before, but in my opinion, none of those dudes hold a candle to Jake the Dog and Finn the Human. Get ready to cry your butts off, because Distant Lands: Together Again is exactly the heartbreakingly beautiful conclusion to Finn & Jake’s story you wanted it to be. Today, we’re going to be dissecting all the mathematical elements of these two best buds’ final adventure. I’m Whitney Van Laningham, and this is my breakdown for Adventure Time: Distant Lands, Together Again.

Actually jake could have lived as long as Finn. In the dungeon train episode there is a glass orb that shows the future. Before the future was changed both jake and Finn were really old and still on the train. With this knowledge it means jake died a premature death as jake wasn't even there with adult finn. He most likely died during a adventure.. not because of old age.

Well, Finn was old when he died. Jake could have easily died of old age, but probably just a few years before Finn finally bit the dust.

@@Khrayfish Adventure Time: Distance Lands show adult finn without jake. At that time finn had a jake tattoo that suggests that Jake is dead. So even though it is not officially stated it looks like it is implied that Jake is dead by the time Finn becomes an adult.

The orb could’ve been wrong, or Jake obtained an item that grants him a longer life, but the best explanations is the writers forgot about that episode, so bad continuity ig

@@Cyberfox237 possibly. But if we take what we know and to keep with the continuity of what we know..... the most logical answer is he died young. 1. Dungeon Train - in the future glass it looked like finn had all the items and they both were old. Possible Jake had a item to slow his age to human aging but most unlikely. 2. Adventure Time: Distant Lands - Adult finn showed up with a Jake tattoo and no Jake. It's possible jake is still alive but it is implied that he is dead. 3. Adventure Time: Together again - Finn is dead and is finally reunited with Jake after a long time being separated. If we take continuity into account and it's not a mistake on the creators part then logically Jake died young; between the time Finn was a teen and when he was a adult

You missed one of my favorite easter eggs! The little beat that Finn plays for Jake is a call back to a previous episode where Jake tells Finn to play that drum beat to find each other (I think s4 or 5)

S.5-E19 "James Baxter the Horse" yeah I cried and laughed so hard at that deep cut. I feel it's a good litmus to notice other obsessive fans. (my family has been watching for~7 years now, almost every night or on repeat during the day for our 9mo. who gets excited 95% of the time the intro song starts.)

this explains the personality of shermy and beth, their reincarnations. Shermy is much more enthusiastic and hyperactive, but beth is chill and just glad to be along for the adventure with shermy

I don't think it was ever confirmed that Shermy and Beth were their reincarnations as Finn and Jake's reincarnations usually were different species, so while Shermy might be a candidate, I don't think Jake would reincarnate into a direct descendant of himself.

The sad part is when i was a kid i never saw the show for the greatness it was (or is) but when I'm on the verge of being an adult I realise the sincerity and deep felt moment within this show(even if people tell me I'm too old for this) I'm glad it was a part of my life. Don't listen to them. If there's one show that's truly for everyone (adults, teenagers and children alike) it's Adventure time. It just talks to so many different people in so many different ways that it is in my opinion, not really age restricted at all.

To be fair.. the show itself changed quite a bit in all the time it lasted. In the first seasons it was fun and did the ocasionnal underlying philosohical theme behind but not exactly all that deep abd a lot of weirdness and rnadomness. The show very much grew almsot as much as it's creators and it's audience in a way.

I may have missed it in this video but one detail that was told to me is that when Finn enters the dead worlds he starts clapping. His clapping is a reference to something Jake did in an episode where he says he will clap in a specific way so if they get separated they could try to reunite.

19:04 During the future segments of the finale we see that there's a living space inside the Prizeball Guardian that just roams around the land. That combined with the fact that it has candy citizens in a state of stasis within the prize balls makes me think that Bubblegum is living in there, potentially with Marceline.

To be fair I also cried but only at three specific moments. First was Finn realizing he's dead but instead of lingering on the thought for a long time he just gets excited to see Jake again. Second was when Finn actually sees Jake again and Jake doesn't remember anything at first. And was was the ending, do I really have to say why?

I almost cried like 3 times during the video, and then at the end I went full on baby mode and wept uncontrollably for a solid couple minutes. Adventure Time is probably my favorite show from my teen years, and probably the only one that really followed me as I grew up. I was 13 or 14 when it first started, and I think it's the only show that really consistently kept me coming back to catch up on it as I got older. I have so many good memories wrapped up in it, and it had so many episodes and emotional moments that left an impact on me. I think Adventure Time will go down in history as an all-time classic series.

Soooo this video got delayed because Together Again premiered the weekend we had a big out-of-town trip for a wedding. Unfortunately, we fell sick when we got back (not Covid, thankfully) and the window for finishing the edit on this video closed as Owl House and Rick and Morty returned. We know that this video isn't going to be good for our viewership baseline, but we put so much work into it that we really wanted to deliver it. Hopefully, now this will be a good appetizer for Wizard City!

i have a german shepherd, and i honestly dont think i could go on with out him, he has been my anchor for these past 10 years, making me find out what kinda person i am, when he dies, i dont think i will be ok. and hearing about you crying and missing your dog is making me try to keep myself from crying, and let me tell you, it is hard not to cry when thinking about what is to come

His name is Ricardio, not Ricardo. Ricardio was hanging from the ceiling in the 1st Dead World. It's perfectly understandable why Ricardio ended up in the 1st Dead World after he passed away. Ricardio is pure evil, after all.

How you feel about your dog Pugsley is how I feel towards my dog Ollie. Sometimes, I wonder how he’s doing in the afterlife and if I’ll see him again once I get to that point. I cried super hard during the episode, especially when the credits rolled. Finn and Jake’s bond also reminds me of my bonds with my own best friends in my life. I want to try and live life to the fullest now so when that time comes, I’ll be ready. Amazing series right here.

I had so many mixed feelings about this finale. I really just wanted to see an adult Finn, not old man finn or the same Finn. The one we saw with the beard and deeper voice, he looked so great. On the other hand I understand why Finn would revert back to a phase in life where Jake was in his prime and Finn was young and carefree. I loved how this episode had so many Easter eggs and homages to the original show. I got teary eyed during the last bit and very sad for Finn. To spend his entire post Jake life, just existing is kind of disheartening. I guess it didn't help that all of his other friends died either though.

theres alot to finns hallucination jake being frozen (not only a reference but) symbolizes that jakes struggling to keep up with adventuring due to his age and ultimately dragging finn down to his fullest potential and i believe the skeletons in the nest are some characters lives they failed to save after the series probably due to that. jake dying is finns trauma as he says “this isnt happening not again” i dont think its how jake actually dies but it just shows the lack of closure finn recieved.

I feel like not many people have noticed that the mind parasites in the start of the episode have a striking resemblance to the grass parasite that invaded the Finn sword and created Fern's body. And it's fitting since both parasites are able to control minds.

Mr fox turned the sythe into a pillow because unlike his predecessors who saw death as: balanced and swift and for new death a violent process of culling, mr fox saw death as resting, your life is over and now you may rest in peace

I don't think Jake died soon or close to the season finale. This is because whilst Finn was 17, Jake and Jermaine should have showed signs of physical ageing resembling old jake, but they didnt. I think it's quite clear they had a distorted lifedpan compared to normal dogs in real life. Jake was exclaiming he was in his 40s for most of the show. He could have a similar lifespan to his pups, where they mature fast but then their age stays relatively the sams. Also, Jake was half Alien weird thing so that probably extended his lifespan as well.

If there is an afterlife, I hope I have a soul mate. Not even romantically, maybe in some existences, but not all of them. Just always having someone I look for and when I find them I keep them close in my life. It's strangely comforting to think about going into a new existence with someone instead of going alone.

I grew up watching this since the pilot episode and I never stopped finding a way to watch more, I was an elementary school kid when I watched it, I just graduated from high school and I truly felt like I was the one behind the screen who had an adventure of my own, I have a Gf, I'm looking into community college, I'm about to reach my 3rd year anniversary with my loved one, thank you Finn & Jake, you taught me well.

I think that Death turning into a tree makes sense. Life is the opposite of Death. Also, I like the scythe. Death is the grim reaper and is often depicted with a scythe. I'm also guessing a lot of their past lives had the same thing happen which is represented by the ouraboros. It stands for an endless cycle.

Dead world one is a mix of “Donte’s Inferno” the river stix and the last 2 circles of hell, the river stix contains the souls that committed heresy in a mud like substance and level above the ice lake holding satan holds the worst souls in a boiling lake of blood called Phlegethon and Ngl I almost teared up and the end of this video

This remind me of my cat Paws. And how my cat Kyan who just passed away this month acted alot alike. Just like always throwing their heads around and letting out a loud meow everytime I said hello to him or how I surprised them when he was alive. I can see now Paws was living through my cat Kyan and when Paws was still alive I treated him not like a cat but like my son witch is how I started treating my cat Kyan towards the ending days of his life. That may have reawakened Paws' memory in him of me. My cat Paws I use to write stories of him and I going on adventures together and was working on The great legendary adventure of Paws before he passed away due to a Blood clot. At that point I stopped working on the story falling into a deep depression.

I have to see it . thanks to you . a Marceline doll in my collection of strange stuffed animals. May seem weird for someone my age to collect such things . but it started with toys for my daughter. Isn’t Jake an incarnation of a comet too? It must’ve come shortly after Finns comet. Maybe through that they’re bound together. The Lich’s comet came alone. So he is always bound to lose.

This is the first ever adventure time episode i seriously cried alot when fin was panicing about jakes death and the ending man this was really emotional man i cried of sadness at jakes death and smiled at the end when he chose to stay whit fin :D

The nest on top of the house at the beggining is also an alusion to the episode in wich Jake loses his powers and a witch or sth that comes out of a river made up of trash and takes up Jake to a nest with her baby birds that wanted to eat him
