A Fantastic, but long nights Foxing with Dewayne.
Young foxes a plenty in this one bagging a total of 8 plus one adult. After our previous outing which proved to be very tricky indeed. This time it was slow to get going. But when it did, the action came thick and fast.
A total of 9 shot and picked, with ranges from 60 yards out to over 260!
The thermal kit we were both using really does make the world of difference to our work.
Along with this, knowing how to use additional products to their full advantage, such as electronic callers and mouth calls. Can really increase your productivity in the field.

It shocked me when I came out with you both last winter, to have gone out at 19:30 and not got back until 03:30. And travelling 95 miles in the process 🫢 Oh ! Yeah you could the bullet exit through it’s cheats even before it fell. I played it back frame by Fran on the PC a few times. Fascinating.

It just happens that this week I have installed feeders in two brand new woods. The plan is to shoot them in about 4 weeks time. Squirrel numbers haven’t been an issue where I’ve been previously. As a wise man once said. Can’t shoot em twice.

I always zero (and so to does Dewayne, cus I do it for him) in at 1” high at 100 yards. Therefore when using a fast round like the Hornady V-max’s most things are perfectly doable without compensating out to 230ish or just over.

@@matt.243ackley2 with mine about a 150 yard zero that would be, Dewaynes would be a bit further as the 22.250 is faster and flatter.

Top draw. Can’t believe how many foxes you have. Just wondered why you favour the .223 robin? It seems some of your shots are fairly rangy. Would the .22-250 be a better shout? I’m genially interested to know your thoughts. I use a .222 and will never ever swop, though I’ve been tempted

Thanks for your comment. So the main reason I went .223 was the amount of foxes V’s barrel life. A 22.250 would have burnt out by now. And as you can see I’m happy bowling them over a half decent distances. I never really used to though. Since I’ve had this thermal it’s made it easier to shoot further out.

@@TeamFoxer thanks for the reply. I rarely shoot past 100 yards at foxes at night so .222 suits me to the ground. Far superior caliber to .223 I’d say😂 all the best and happy and safe shooting.

Position taken to look for foxes. You do not stay at one place all the time.

It’s either a usual place we agree get out and have a call. A spot that gives us great visibility, shootability, and often has produced results for us before. If nothing shows we move to the next slot. That for us is what we refer to as a stand. There’s not set number of them. But if we’re going to shoot a particular farm. By now we know pretty much before we go, where we’re going to stop (we’re the stand) we be.
