My friend and i build 2 of these helmets for karneval. material prices in Germany were ~150€ each (~186$). we used 40 LEDs each head with 2 different colors. ~55hours work but they look pretty fine but they are too big for crouded events because the ears may hit other people. It was totally worth building them and thank you for this tutorial :) PS: the resin was the hardest part of it. and for everyone who want to build one, choose a fabric which is elastic and strechy :)

Hey , I really appreciate the hardwork you did in making such an iconic mask . As a deadmau5 fan , I really liked your way and decided to make my own. However, I was facing a problem and that is ..what material have you used at 9:04 ? I am unable to get it..

If you are asking about the circumference running along both the sphere of the head and the ears, I can't measure that. But giving a guess it would be 44 inches for the sphere add another 26 inches to go around both ears

Can you remember where you got your 24 inch beach ball from? Like you said in the video it's difficult to find any online that will actually be 24 inches when inflated. Also what thickness of fibreglass mat did you use and what brand of polyester resin was it? Sorry for the numerous questions
@KRSprops
@KRSprops 7 жыл бұрын
Paulo Reus hi there, I simply bought mine off Amazon, usefully I was able to over inflate mine until I achieved the desired size. I can't remember the thickness of fiberglass or brand of polyester resin, any cheap resin will do and if you have thin fiberglass you will just need to add more layers until you get the desired strength

Alright, so I already did plaster bandages, but I feel I made too many bumps. Will it be too noticeable on the finished product?
@KRSprops
@KRSprops 6 жыл бұрын
Professor Meowingtons if you are using a dark colored felt like a black or navy blue, you can mask small bumps. If they are big, I would sand them down and reinforce with another layer or two of bandages over sanded areas

I went through 4 department stores today and couldn't find any plaster bandage. Can I just add the fiber glass on the beach ball or is there another substitute?
@KRSprops
@KRSprops 7 жыл бұрын
you could use anything really, you could wrap the beach ball in tin foil, just needs something in between to stop the polyester resin from effecting the plastic the beach ball is made from!

the best way to tell is to hold it up next to your head infront of a mirror, if it isnt bigger than your head by a significant amount then the ball is too small! watch my video and look at how the size compares to my head! :)

How many ounces of resin did you use ?
@KRSprops
@KRSprops 3 жыл бұрын
I never measured exactly but I would estimate about 500ml of resin? You end up cutting a fair amount of the fiberglass and resin away for the neck hole, eyes and mouth so you could probably use less.
