I have to agree with you jesal although I can see the idea of this being the kind of music you would dance to, I feel deadmau5 is at his best when your life may not be going too great but you have this kind of music to let you know everything will be ok.

Well, almost all music can be interpreted as dance if it’s played at a club or- as the other guy said, a rave. I get where you’re coming from though. Maybe I’m biased but Joel’s music really is the kind of music I listen to for comfort and thinking.

Fucc , super late on this. One of his most raw & beautiful tracks that has deadmau5 written all over it. And the first time i listened to this was back in mid 2013. The fact that this heavenly track came out in 2007 - 2008 makes you realize he was ahead of his time!!

i got into deadmau5 a few years ago, and keep discovering more and more of his work. the farther back i go into his music, the more emotional it gets it seems to me. the spacey vibes of all of his old stuff are truly innovative and nobody does it quite like him, especially with this song. people say deadmau5 fans are close minded and dont even know ddm, but i dont even consider deadmau5 ddm. he's his own category, it just happens to be mostly comprised of electronic elements because thats his interest.

Strobe will always be king in my book. Strobe just encompasses so many emotions. I've listened to it everyday for almost 6 months and still haven't tired of it. Jaded is really great too. Sends shivers down my spine

I know a ton of people say shit like this. But I truly, truly miss the deadmau5 of old. The simple song structures with absolutely stellar production value is so missed. That "minimal" progressive house style is so long gone now... it truly sucks. Will never forget seeing him in 2008 and 2009 at Webster Hall and Terminal 5. I miss how he was a totally different person then as well... less concerned about starting dumb arguments online and just focused on what made him great: his music.

In my opinion what really stands out about his old style is just how subtle and intricate the mixing was. There were definitely a lot of people doing this same four-on-the-floor house music, but his songs had way more layers of detail than anyone else, and his synth design was incredible, especially during his third and fourth albums for Ultra. I still think HR 8938 Cephei is the best house track he's ever made, and maybe ever will.
