about #deadmau5:
Joel Zimmerman, more commonly known as deadmau5 (pronounced 'dead mouse'), is one of the world's most respected electronic music producers of modern times. Enjoying international chart success with his 2x platinum-certified single "Ghosts 'n' Stuff," as well as "Professional Griefers," "Sofi Needs A Ladder" and "I Remember," he has also released seven critically acclaimed albums. The multiple JUNO Award-winning and GRAMMY®-nominated artist's ability to push the boundaries of his talent grows at an equal rate to his fan base, which counts 15 million and more over his combined social media channels. His latest music offerings include “Pomegranate” with The Neptunes, “Bridged By A Lightwave” with Kiesza, “Channel 43” with Wolfgang Gartner, “Hypnocurrency” with REZZ, “When The Summer Dies” with Lights, “Hyperlandia” featuring Foster The People, “this is fine.” with Portugal. The Man, “XYZ” and “My Heart Has Teeth” featuring Skylar Grey.
In 2022 deadmau5 teamed with longtime friend and collaborator Kaskade on new music project Kx5 releasing Top 40 smash and #1 dance music radio single “Escape” featuring Hayla leading into the release of their 2023 debut self-titled album Kx5. In the live realm, his 2019/20 U.S. cubev3 tour featuring production of his own design and implementation ranked in the Top 10 of Pollstar’s top tours globally. In 2022 he completed the ‘We Are Friends’ North American tour and as Kx5 headlined the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in December, breaking records as the largest single-day concert event headlined by an electronic music artist ever in North America with Billboard confirming Kx5 at the Coliseum as the biggest ticketed global headliner dance event of 2022. Beyond his music career, he is also a co-founder of gaming venture PIXELYNX and is an executive of HD streaming platform StreamVoodoo.
about #mau5trap:
Over a decade since its formation, mau5trap -- the independent record label founded by groundbreaking electronic music producer deadmau5 -- has become a bastion for trailblazing and genre-defying artists. Casting a palpable influence over the genre, Mixmag readers voted mau5trap among the “Top 50 Labels of the Decade”, placing it in the Top 10; since then, the imprint has been supported by dance music magnates Billboard, DJ Mag, Forbes, Insomniac, & The EDM Network.
The multi-genre platform has served as an authoritative platform for dance music heavyweights such as Skrillex, REZZ, Feed Me, Zedd, Noisia, i_o, Dillon Francis, Chris Lake, & Madeon; a combination of dark, forceful techno & complex, electro sounds, the label acts as a hotbed for rising talent like Lamorn, 1788-L, Polar Youth, Volaris, DI SUN, & others alike. Welcome to the horde.

Cheap car wired with an amazing stereo with 13 speakers and double subs, after 16 to 20 hours shifts i didnt have parents or anything to go back home to I'd hit the road in the middle of the night like a zombie up to the hills and just have this playing in the pitch black of the night with blue neons in my car. Indeed, it's a super inspiring and hopeful track. deadmau5 has these ways that, myself who is a music producer, can't really explain. He attracts a listener with just beautiful melodies, great sounding synthesizers because of the countless amounts of Moog synths and custom built rigs he has at his disposal, fantastic dynamics. It's just incredible the success he's attained.

Hard to believe this track is already 15 years old. Even today, it's still one of the most original pieces ever produced. I was around 14-15 years old then, but now at 31, I can truly appreciate Joel's emotions in this track. Absolute quality. Thank you for that unforgettable moment in Dublin in 2012 ❤

This song carried me to my best friend, who was dying. I get the dreaded call that he may not see it through the night. Kiss my wife and kids and grab my car keys. I’m gone. This song on like 44 or 46( cuz nobody puts it on a odd number) it’s loud it rumbles and shakes the car, I’m doing maybe 100 on a 60, but the raw emotion of this song and the state that my mind is in just makes everything super adrenalised. I see my friend. He is literally knocking on deaths door. I hold his hand, tell him I love him and say “just give up”. He passed away about 10 minutes after I spoke to him. His parents and I spoke for about 2 hours just re-telling funny stories and cracking jokes at his expense. I leave and get back in my car, and it’s strobe again. Just that first maybe 2-3 minutes of nothing but pure chords, you can feel it. The song lives in you, with you for a few precious moments and then boom, the drop hits you and you’re high and remembering the good times. This song is timeless, and will always manages to give me the feels every time I hear it. Timeless classic.

“Strobe was actually produced in a whole bunch of different parts. The intro wasn’t originally called strobe, it was called ‘then we stood still’, and if you look it up on KZfaq you’ll find that. The second part of it was done months later in a hotel room in England where I thought I should expand on it. It was really done in a lot of segments, and I wasn’t thinking about anything in particular at any given time. People ask me that a lot, and I never really think about anything, I just kind of think about how things sound and if something’s working or not.” -Joel Zimmerman

I love the slow transition from a moody symphonic introduction to the upbeat - and the the drop! - and the dance goes on. EDM at its best, Deadmau5 at his best.

I woke up at 4:30am for work. I went on a walk before I left. The gloomy morning was calming. I looked up and watched the sun rise and the moon set. For some reason, as I gazed this song came into my head after 8 years of not listening to it. Truly a masterpiece, brough me back in time for a couple mins. It felt like October 2009 again.

Aw. Happy for you. Yeah learned this song for the first time through a livestreamer's playlist. Really like it. Wait actually I heard it once two years ago but I didn't have Spotify and was too busy with the livestreamer driving away from a bank robbery for grand theft auto. But today yeah the song's really good and heard it the full way through.

If you're asking me, a few years ago. I listened to more up-to-date songs that came out recently by Deadmau5, and loved them and then I started checking out other songs by this guy, and then happen upon this epic masterpiece STROBE. I've listened to dance before or trance or house, but this was something a bit more special. Also, if you start to listen to the actual song in depth and how he separates the levels and samples and beats, you'll hear many different tones and instruments in each stanza. I believe he's well versed in piano, in that he took lessons or something. Just from the piano he places in his music.
