Got to disagree with Greg over the effects on Colossus, he looks much better in this than past X-Men films
@Alex_Logan22

If he was a comic fan he would've loved this Colossus. What he should've said was he didn't like his continuity from the other movies, which is more the fault of the other movies doing him wrong/horribly than this movie actually doing him right. In a cinematic timeline already so messed up, which they reference and joke about, it's the right kind of change. Give the Colossus fans know and love, not some 25 year old American mute.

+The ZombieMan Agreed. I was struggling to understand how anyone could criticize this Colossus while using the other Fox movies as a reference. The other Colossus versions are a blight on the character. The DP movie actually saved TWO characters from past mistakes. And if there is any flaw in the CGI, that's a result of the low budget...which is worth it. We got a good DP movie BECAUSE the budget was low. The goofy shark certainly didn't ruin Jaws....special effects aren't that important.

The Iron man PTSD argument is dumb. His anxiety has nothing to do with fighting, it has to do with the weight of the world on his shoulders. When he's in a fight, there is focus on the task at hand. The anxiety happens when things calm down and he can think about the terrible things to come. As I understand it, this is very similar to how soldiers experience PTSD.

How exactly do the Marvel movies "purport to be cinematic masterpieces?" If anything they're beloved because they embrace the fact that they're dumb popcorn flicks.Tony Stark, Thor, Hulk, and all of the characters in Guardians of the Galaxy are too off-the-wall to ever purport to be any more than that. They're not trying to make these films like Citizen Kane or anything.

I'm going to respectfully disagree with Sean's opinion on Winter Soldier, but that's beside the point. I really enjoyed hearing Sean's review of Deadpool, seeing as he clearly approached the film from a different perspective. I think (okay, I hope) that they will expand on the more mentally deranged-Wade in a sequel, so it didn't really bother me that much for his first true introduction. Would've liked to hear more from Tim, but that was out of your hands. Great video!

This movie is straight up perfect. Any little problem I have with it would just be nitpicking and can honestly be overlooked by the comedy alone. The action is insane and brutal, choreography is beautiful. For me, the action is on par with Winter Soldier. Yes, IT'S THAT GOOD. The comedy is the true take away. This is by far the funniest movie I have seen in years. My entire theater was laughing for 2 hours. It's so funny that it earns a 2nd viewing because there's definitely some jokes I missed. This movie is just beyond refreshing. Yea it's an origin story, but the way it's executed (pacing) makes it something new. Ryan Reynolds fucking nails it as expected. Best of all, you buy into the love relationship. Sometimes it's hard to buy into them for some of these movies, but it's just so perfect in this one. Deadpool is by far one of the best superhero movies ever made. I'm talking top 5, people! A great villain, great ensemble cast, brilliant script, etc,. Also, the best opening credits I've ever seen lmao. 9.5/10 chimichangas. GO. SEE. IT. Also, that BVS trailer!!!!!! We've never truly seen Batmam captured perfectly on screen...until now!!!
@mobaby1979
@mobaby1979 8 жыл бұрын
agreed. agree on the BVS trailer - i doubt the OVERALL directing job was as good as Nolan's, but my thought while seeing the trailer last night was 'WHOA - the fighting in this movie is going to be effing BRUTAL. You could FEEL the bodyslams/punches/throws in a way I've barely seen the likes of. Winter Soldier may be one of the best on that front thus far, but BVS may trump it. BRUTAL GRIT.

mobaby1979 How Batman is supposed to be. A master of every martial art. Straight up taking out 24 men without breaking a sweat. It truly looks like we're finally getting Bats represented accurately. Physically, it's the most accurate by far. Here's hoping he's really smart and a detective. I was getting real Batman: The Animated Series vibes from Bruce & Alfred's back and forth lol.

***** Well yea.. People have different opinions. Nothing new there. It was refreshing to me. Like Ant-Man, it wasn't so much of a "save the world" story but more personal. And it was one of the funniest movies I've seen in years because that's my type of humor and Reynolds nails it. I also enjoyed the relationship between Wade and Vanessa. The relationships usually suck in these movies (with some exceptions) but this one made the audience actually give a shit. I also loved the pacing because it really fits with Deadpool since he's talking to us. Is it perfect as a whole? No.. But as a Deadpool movie?? You bet your ass it is! Ryan nailed it in the first 25 min of Wolverine Origins so to see him get to truly do it for 2 hours with a spot on accurate portrayal of the character makes the long wait worth it.

I agree that the film needed more fourth wall breaking and in a more extreme way but at the same time there were moments where the camera was played with, such as deadpool moving the camera away and saying "you might want to look away" or in the beginning when the gum is stuck to the camera lens, those moments were perfect! As much as I would love for a fourth wall break to go as far as, say, Deadpool beating a guy to death with a camera he got off-screen, I like the fact that the movie - and most canon Deadpool lore, come to think of it - leaves it ambiguous as to whether he's truly the most self-aware character in the entire Marvel universe or if he's just batshit crazy. All of his breaks are things he could be imagining or making up, which is helpful for when you want to put this movie into context with other Marvel movies that you'd rather take a bit more seriously.

As a hardcore deadpool fan (I saw it twice in one day wearing my deadpool full body suit xD) I really liked it. Ryan Reynolds was so amazing, Weasel will be a fan-favorite for sure, and the scenes with the taxi driver are some of the most memorable movie scenes I will ever see. With that said, Ajax was forgettable here in the movie, while in the Joe Kelly comics Ajax is so fucking awesome and is shown as way more powerful. The weapon x experimentation origin scenes could have been way better, and they didn't explain how deadpool got his powers that well. There were all these wolverine tie-ins in the movie but you don't tell the audience that wade gets wolverines mutated cells put in him? I wish Dr.Killebrew showed up in the movie as well, and the hydra bob cameo us fans should greatly appreciate was there, but it was a weak cameo, but I understand they made it weak because most people won't know who Bob is so its just in there quick for the fans.

I agree with Greg with the confusion of him going after the girl and him being crazy. I did expect him to be a little more psychotic and was actually expecting for Vanessa to die in the end and make him full crazy. I felt like Vanessa just holds him back from being the psychotic deadpool character with multiple voices in his head and such. but at the same point I understand where Sean and nick are coming from where him being held back a little probably benefited the film.

There were several camera 4th wall breaks. 1. When deadpool kills jared from subway(the creepy weapon x suit guy) 2. Deadpool says you dont want to see this and moves the camera away from the violence 3. Deadpool also at one point gets gum on the camera that he then wipes off. 4. I was just shaking my head when you guys were talking about wanting more creative ways of breaking the forth wall. What is more creative than using the forth wall to tell an origin story? We haven't seen that from a comic book movie before. Besides, what you guys ware talking about would be the equivalent to deadpool running across panels and ripping pages which the comics don't do. It detracts from the story, you lose any stakes or investment you have on the characters because then you treat the material as a joke. The movie did an awesome job handling the fourth wall.

So the Colossus that looks like an aluminum can looks better than the one here that actually looks like metal? You might want to google a side by side comparison instead of relying on your memory here.

I cannot imagine anyone but Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool- mainly because of his dedication and love for the character. Anyone who truly loves a character so much- and does it so well- he should get to continue on. However, if you're asking who else could play Deadpool and you couldn't have Ryan Reynolds, the only person I can think of who is that quick and clever is Lin Manuel Miranda... although he is a bit busy right now.

They could easily make Deadpool crazier in the sequel. Just have him wake up in bed with Vanessa one night hearing the 'voices' in his head, signifying that he's growing gradually more insane.

It's closer to Joe Kelly's Deadpool (90's Deadpool) which is a lot different then the kind of Deadpool that tends to appear in games.

I think as a first movie, they had to play it alittle safe, which is still clearly not much, but also I have a feeling he gets crazier as movies get made, the next one will be more crazy and 4th wall breaking, because fox will give them more trust and money to fully flesh things out

The problem here is Daniel Way. It seems that Greg perhaps expected the movie to reflect Way's run on Deadpool more however Way's run of Deadpool is generally considered to be bad and made a lot of changes to who and what Deadpool was before.

Do you not think that all the torture Deadpool went through, explains why he becomes a little crazy and breaks the 4th wall.
@NicksMagicstorytime
@NicksMagicstorytime 8 жыл бұрын
There is at least one breaking of the fourth wall by using the workings of filming where Deadpool tells the audience to look away and reaches to the camera and physically moves the camera to look away before he tortures the Recruiter/"Agent Smith" character off screen. This stuff could easily be too much though. There are thin lines doing this stuff and the movie stretches them just the right amount. It could have easily been overdone. And I also think this movie actually has a great deal of repeat watchability. The jokes are so rapid fire and there are likely many things you miss seeing it only once.

Interesting review. I have no comic book knowledge of Deadpool whatsoever and I don't think I once asked why he broke the fourth wall, I just accepted it as is. We live in a society where everyone wants to just stick labels on things or on people (crazy is only a socially defined thing anyway), you can look at it as him being crazy on one hand but on the other you can also say that he is a character who see's and knows more than others.

*potential spoiler" just pointing out that deadpool did break the fourth wall with more than just dialogue. one part specifically deadpool pushes the camera away from a gruesome way he intends on killing someone. so to say it was all dialogue is incorrect

What are they talking about? "In this univers I dont think you can be as crazy as deadpool would be." I understand that he has never read a deadpool comic, and all he has to go on is the game. but shit man. he gets fucked by a strapon, eggs on a cab driver to kill his cousin, spells out the villans name in body parts. WTF ARE THEY EVEN TALKING ABOUT
