Agreed the various reset buttons really lower the tension and remove dramatic stakes. Your idea of going back to one or two Marvel movies a year seems impossible at this point. Marvel has become the bus from SPEED, it can't slow down.

Shawn Levy is kryptonite to a movie... going in with VERY tempered expectations. The first two are some of the best in the business.

Wouldn’t get hung up on the TVA dampening the stakes in this universe. Don’t forget The Avengers figured out time travel in Endgame and have an active Time Machine. So there’s no stakes if you think about it.👍

The problem with the MCU is that it still needs to drag out these old timers to pull off a successful movie. Would people be excited this excited to watch this movie if Hugh Jackman isn’t involved in it? I think not. The big question for the MCU is can it stand on its own with fresh, new actors and new characters? The answer so far is a resounding No.

@GeekinWithJamesHancock huge fan of the channel have been for several years now and I think maybe, for when highly anticipated comic book movies like Deadpool and Wolverine release, I think you should do some comic book recommendations to check out in the lead up to a highly anticipated film based on a comic book property and Deadpool and Wolverine being a perfect upcoming movie to start those with, just a thought though and if not, that’s fine keep going onwards and upwards as you say at the end of your videos James.

Just took a quick look at Shawn Levy's filmography and although the volume of work is impressive I have zero desire to go back and explore his catalog. Mostly pg-13 forgettable mainstream comedies so he's a negative going in for me. Jackman worked with Levy on Real Steal. I wouldn't want Levy within a mile of my most iconic role so the fact that Hugh was comfortable working with him again is somewhat reassuring. I want the swearing, the violence & gore, the cocaine. A bit worried D&W could end up being Free Guy with CG blood added in post.

It's a movie littered with cameos and pop culture references. Thats why he got picked. He worked with Garner and Ruffalo in the Adam Project with Ryan Reynolds. I no dkubt think thats the play. And Free Guy was considered a success. Be very skeptical.

Fbombs seem forced like disney is like hey look at us we are hip and cuss now too it doesn't fit the dialouge I wouldn't be surprised if the whole movie has these forced fucks that just sound out of place it comes off as pretty cringe marvel disney is just funny at this point

I don't think they know how to show this movie off in the promos because of all the cameos they're trying to hide. I felt that this was less exciting than the teaser we got from the Super Bowl. I did appreciate the joke about Rob Liefeld hidden in the background at 4:04. Time will tell.

Or, maybe they know exactly what they’re doing despite what you subjectively feel. Last trailer was Deadpool focused, this trailer is Wolverine focused, plenty of new footage, finally showing off the villain, teasing ant man & doctor strange connections, all without giving too much away about the story
