Great Video, thank you all for doing this. I feel very confident when i try this for the first time tomo! :) Also devil should have had 2 less points. they never took the hit from the inquisitor phase at the end of the game.

The choices for the "good" and "evil" side are hilarious in-game wise but sooo from a historical perspective. Well played, designers!

Based on your roundtable and your gameplay, I think the game is built to be played multiple times, so that players can lean more and more towards the deduction part of the game by knowing the cards that have been dealt and the real worth of resources. I believe the fact that the buildings and event being the same ones in each game is purposefully and thoroughly thought. It reflects how deduction can become more and more important as we accumulate playthroughs. Thanks for the video. I'm on the verge of getting a copy. Looks fantastic

This was an excellent play through folks, found it really enjoyable and much more informative than the DT content. I’m a fiend for feeding workers so I think this one’s for me.

Great playthrough and showcase of one of my new fave games. A couple mistakes though which others have pointed out below. Biggest mistake though was during Round 5 actions, Red (Ken) took the glass and marble from the earned Major Achievement BEFORE he was allowed. Then proceeded to buy a courtier and cascade a bunch of things... Uh Uh Uh. You can't DO that..... Can't get cash in your achievements til the of your turn. He got like multiple bonus wings and Indulgences that he could not have gotten otherwise.

Pretty sure Alyssa got 3 houseguests without ever losing the guaranteed 2 points each time. Further when guessing tokens match in round 3 for the devil you also lock in the cultist tokens (because it's so easy to reduce now that you know who the devil is)

Oh wow --- I never even noticed the -2 points for taking the house guests. I wouldn't have been so cavalier in taking them if I realized, but still sorry about that.

During the 1st Inquisition after Round 3, when the Devil tokens/guesses ALL came out of the chests , shouldn't ALL of the Cultist tokens also be placed next to the board as well? (page 17, under 'Guesses', 2nd paragraph, 1st line)

Yes. If any guesses match, ALL guesses are set aside.

Last round, it seems like Alyssa didn't lose 2 points when she took the debts from the inquisitor at the bottom of the board. Am I correct?

during the deals, can you offer money together with the resources? I thought I saw in the rules that you could not.

Sorry if this is a bit late, but the rules say you can straight up offer cash. It just wouldnt make sense unless you are the devil or the cultist

I guess Edward missed the logic, but after the round three witch hunt he knows he is the cultist, and Alyssa refused to show her soul during the witch hunt. So it makes it a pretty easy play to guess that she is the devil (we also know from the round 2 witch hunt that Derek was almost certainly not the devil).

I'm not sure that's right. She may have been a mortal who'd already sold a soul. Wouldn't that make someone also refuse to show souls?

Fun game, the deal offering seems fun! My personal problem is that its a game with an app - and the ever remaining question of, can I still play the game in five years, when operating systems have changed, and the app stores have changed etc or the publisher server shuts off the download or whatever, when i get a new phone. the great thing about boardgames is the cardboard boxes that have longevity, still playing copies printed 10 or 20 years ago. Thanks for showcasing this game! :)

People are making such a big deal out of this. On the off chance that you will pull this off the shelve in five yers there’s a slim chance the app won’t work anymore. If you play this religiously until then you got your money’s worth. And if you play it rarely maybe you won’t be sad about anyway. Most people that are knee deep in this hobby to come and watch HC videos have moved on to newer games in five years anyway…so tired of this complaint. Especially with a game like this that can only work with the app.

I wouldn’t worry about this, our first game with a required “app” was Space Alert, and it still comes with the CD 🤣 CGE has a digital department with our Through the Ages, Galaxy Trucker, and coming Codenames apps and will continue supporting the ability to play our games. We’ve been doing since 2007.

Given that the designer also personally created the app and Alchemists is 10 years old and still supported, I’d bet that this game will still be supported.

I keep old phones just for this reason, though I doubt there was ever any problem. Also a proud owner of Alchemists.
