Jonathan cracked the code for you Jess, the anxiety is tied to the stress and worry of trying to get to a certain place in life. Social media has condition us to compare everything. You have to be grateful for whatever God's given you, even if its nothing lately you still have breath in you lungs. The verse tells us exactly what things to think about to undo anxiety and it really works and even if you have nothing good going on to center you mind on God is still good, thank him for all the beauty around you ❤ I'm still a work in progress but this is my testimony for how I stopped letting people and my mind (the enemy) steal my peace.

It makes me happy that Jonathon brought up person-first language. I think it’s a really simple yet effective way to separate the person from their symptoms. At the end of the day, we are all Gods creation, beautifully and wonderfully made. In my personal and professional life, I always try to watch what I say because we not claiming nothing over that isn’t ours!

I think he is spot on about Envy for Jess because she is always comparing herself and her life to others, even to us as the viewers (ex. All her friends got married and she wondered why taking so long for her, children, other youtubers and their accomplisments etc). The envy is what does not allow her to be content and happy!

They're a young couple, so I'm glad they're addressing this now. It can become a problem down the road if he starts to feel like he can never do enough to fulfill her desires and she's always longing for something different or for more than he's able to provide or that they can provide and achieve together. We also have to be introspective and honest with ourselves about what we're actually feeling and not call it something else or sugarcoat it to make it sound better. If you're comparing yourself to others, that's envy, whether we call it that or not. It's longing for what others already have. Those things might not be our blessing, and we have to learn to be happy and grateful without them.

I agree and like he mentioned Envy isn’t necessarily a bad emotion because sometimes that envy can be used as motivation to get to that place you’ve been looking forward to. However, Jess wasn’t able to hear and understand that part because she was so hung up and the word in itself instead of the message.
@shekirashekira

Just want to quickly point this out. Envy truly isn't an ugly emotion. The ugly emotion is jealousy. Envy: longing or feeling of wanting something other's have. Jealousy: feeling of betrayal or anger towards someone else or their belongings. Not saying Jess was wrong for reidentifying her emotion, just pointing out what envy is ❤ P.p.s. still watching but I am so happy for you guys' success with this podcast: stirring up conversation between couples or helping people reflect/ self reflect is always a win in my book!

The green eye of envy is evil…
@twinmom6009
@twinmom6009 Ай бұрын
Unless we're going to rewrite the Bible, envy is one of the 7 deadly sins. The Bible makes no distinction between envy and jealousy regardless what the dictionary says. In the Bible, envy is "jealousy over the blessings and achievements of others." It is mentioned in several places, including Exodus 20:17, which states, "You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's". In psychology, there is a distinction between ordinary envy and malicious envy, the latter of which can lead you to do harm to others. But, in the Bible, there is no distinction. All envy is a sin and can lead to other sins, such as sabotage, hate towards others or wicked practices. We have to be careful not justify any type of sin to make us feel less guilty. And I'm no saint. I sin everyday. But, I don't wake up thinking, how can I sin today? I wake up grateful and humble, and thinking, how can I please and serve God today? Then I pray for the best. But sometimes, I let my job and my professional and personal life knock me off track. 😅 But I repent and pray to see another day, so I can try again.

.....yet if men choose not to marry but to have children, the relationship with the mother of their child will be ONLY about money. I’ve been struggling with a panic disorder for the past 4 years. It started during COVID-19 and it has been a stronghold ever since then. The physical symptoms of a panic attack has to be one of the most agonizing thing I’ve ever experienced. One of the most painful things about it is how others just can’t seem to understand or know how to approach you in that moment of intense distress. Nonetheless, God’s unfailing love was always there to support me despite those feelings.

I want to cry, too, after many interactions. For me, it’s even after church each week or after being around people, I want to come home and cry. I didn’t speak publicly or do anything in the experience... I just feel like crying. I don’t usually cry. I just feel like I want to. I don’t know what that is and I’m around people who build me up... even at family reunion... everyone told me they love me. I wasn’t sad or anxious and I was glad for the time... I just left feeling like I could cry. I understand 🌸

i’m seeing the comments about envy & comparison in Jess’ case but i have to say - i don’t know if these two are exactly the same 😅 it’s just like having the same position as someone else at your job, finding out that you’re making less income than them, and wondering why that is. or having the same dad/mom as your sibling and wondering why your sibling got more food on your plate than you did at dinner. when two things appear or are supposed to be equal but you notice some differences - wouldn’t you also wonder why they’re different? of course the advice to be grateful can be valid but it’s just a fact of life to notice differences between your life and the life of your peer or someone in the same season as you and wonder about why the differences exist and when you’ll catch up to them. i hope this made sense lol.

Jonathan and Jessica's anxiety is the same. It's a lack of confidence in yourself and thinking that you have to be perfect. Or please someone. Wanting to have control over everything but yourself. Jessica you are just a person that likes to be by yourself or with your immediate family. I feel like if you had the choice you wouldn't go out unless it was with family. That is okay. Don't call it anxiety it's your characteristic that you need to embrace and then do the work from there.

Presenting a PowerPoint on work that I handle daily. Not sure if it’s because it was for all the big executives!!!! I also experienced a panic attack while getting my hair done. The stylist instantly thought I was pregnant from her experiences. I believe it was hormonal for many reasons but I was not pregnant. I love the inside out series. They do a great job on explaining what happens in our brains. Apart from anxiety they did a REALLY good job explaining how pushing down your emotions will effaced you. The reason why Riley got anxiety in my opinion is because she never dealt with anything. She put it to the back of her mind and only dealt with what she wanted to. Sorry i know the episode isn’t about the movie but I’m studying to be psychologist that focuses on adolescents. Soooo this is my jam. 9:14

This was such a great episode. I feel like everyone will likely either experience an anxious moment at some point in their lives or know someone else who does. The essence of two scriptures really have helped me to deal with anxious moments better: Proverbs 3:5-6 (trust God instead of my own understanding and let him direct my paths) and Jeremiah 29:11 (God has plans not to harm us but to give us hope and a future.) Similar to Jonathan, my anxious moments tend to be centered around a lack of control. And these scriptures remind me of why I should trust the one who really does oversee the command center of my life. Great podcast!

I think my anxiety, when I was younger, came from fear of not being accepted by others, or them talking about me in a bad way... I use to have to sing when I was little, whenever my dad had to preach somewhere, and my voice use to shake, and I use to cry. They would say that the Holy Spirit is working in me, but really, I was scared, and didn't want to sing, but was made to sing. I didn't get over that until HS... This is on point. I also understand what he meant by envy because she often compares herself and where she is in life to others. We only see snippets of what they share, but he sees more. So, I think he used the word he thought was most appropriate for what he was trying to explain but changed it when she became defensive about calling it envy. But being ungrateful or always longing for more and envy are 2 sides of the same coin.

Anxiety is a bleap. When I realized what it was. I thought it was something else. What!idk! But when I realized what it was I would just stop and let it pass. After a while it slow down to almost nothing. Sometime it sneaks back in. Maybe once a year. But when I identify it. I stop and I let it pass and it goes away. I don’t think anyone could fight anxiety. Just don’t take meds. That’s a vicious cycle. An uncontrollable vicious cycle.

After a while it slow down to almost nothing. Sometime it sneaks back in. Maybe once a year. But when I identify it. I stop and I let it pass and it goes away. I don’t think anyone could fight anxiety. Just don’t take meds. Bath of vicious cycle.

I noticed some of my panic attacks and anxiety came from my gut health. I know it seems like it doesn’t correlate but it does. Gut is the second brain

Love, love, loved this episode! 💙 Girl, my daughter and I saw that movie and we were both drained afterwards. Went home, separated and took a nap. 😄 The struggle was real😔

Do you mean 100 degrees or Farenheight/Celsius?! Because surely 100 degrees would be a very big issue!

lol it’s weird, we said what happens but I still don’t think it spoils the experience. Next time we’ll give the warning though! Still worth a watch.
