While being in the atmosphere, air will not add any weight if it's at 1atm pressure, which it will be in any luggage

Air exerts force in all direction, not particularly downwards so it can be neglected. Mass is not equal to weight. So yes, on the scale air won't have a visible weight, Mr. Know-It-Alls!

I learnt this in 3rd grade: Air has mass Air occupies space So while air does have mass, sucking out air does free up a lot of space, which can be used for efficient packing.
