That car is really stunning. It literally looks like it was hermetically sealed for the past 57 years, and you just unsealed it and took this video. It isn’t just the condition of the car that is breathtaking, the original design is truly a masterpiece. Enjoy every moment with it.

I grew up in the back seats of a 1964 Imperial Crown and a 1971 Imperial LaBaron. I love these cars. This one is an excellant example of how a classy car is.
@williammaceri82442 ай бұрын
I had a 66 4 door hardtop Crown, it was sliver with silver cloth seats trimmed in black leather. I thought these model years were the best-looking of all Imperials. They were originally designed to compete with Cadillac and Lincoln but never sold as well. I can't understand why the Imperial didn't sell better than it did. In 1966 the Imperial was fitted with Chrysler's famous 440. The power, the handling, and the comfort was far better than Cadillac and Lincoln. The Imperial is beautiful and elegant. One of my favorite features of the 65 and 66 was exclusive headlights under glass, a typical Chrysler styling que. The glass had a gold line that framed the headlights. I was always thought that all Chrysler Corporation cars had the headlights installed with a slight angle that gave the cars a look that they were looking up at you in a cute yet confident way. That gave the cars a pleasant personality. I really loved my 66, I wish I still had it, which is what I say about all the cars I've owned. After all I wouldn't have owned them if I didn't feel that way. "To death do I part." Funny how I only feel that way about my cars. I've never felt that way about any human that I've known. These Imperials look like royalty in all black.

Lovely example. In 1965 my 9 year old head thought about anyone could own a Caddy, and our airline pilot neighbor did. But if you owned an Imperial, you were a tycoon. The only car above it, I thought, was the RR Silver Cloud. Thanks for posting.

Guy responsible for this Imperial's design was responsible for the equally elegant 61 Lincoln Continental. Elwood Engel, Chrysler's chief designer from 1961 to 1974.
@fp54953 жыл бұрын
And you can easily see it too. One of the better looking sedans for that time. Incidentally though, the French car company Facile Vega made a sedan called the Excellence that bared a striking resemblance to the Continental in many ways, with the same front wheel arche, C-pillar design and get this, suicide doors as well, AND it was a design that predates the Continental by three years so I'm thinking Elwood got his ideas from a French car that nobody in America even knew existed. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mMCjotx3zcvJj6s.html

To say, "pristine", would be an understatement. One of my all-time Elwood Engel favorites. I drove at least 6 or 7 of these back in the late '70's. I was trying to find the right one as my first car. That was back when they were still considered a used car. But this one is the "Mrs. Drysdale" that I never found. Gorgeous in every way. I would only add the Imperial Performance Package, which included the dual snorkel air cleaner and dual exhausts for the 413.

Top of the line Mopar for '65. This is the kind of car people would aspire to when they were climbing the ladder of success back in those days. I have a '65 Belvedere II 4 door sedan that my parents ordered new in April of that year. It's black and looks just like the Imp! [ not really! ] Great video by the way!

I took my drivers test age 16 in 1965 chrysler imperial 4 door just like this except it was a goldish color with brown vinyl top. In a rural mountanous town. The Drivers instructor at the local State Police station told me to make next left.... I did! It was the tiniest narrow alley. He laughed. He said oh my i meant the next larger street. You were correct however . It was a street! I went back and parallel parked it. I was 16 female and 5ft tall and weighed only 110 lbs. I had a cushion to sit on! It was to me like piloting a boat. My only other choice was a !959 Lincoln 4 door premier. I chose the imperial. The dual mufflers on th lincoln were "a rumbling" loudly! Great times. My dad liked his big facny cars. I also have a fondness for all things automotive. 8:05
