Another distillery visit from 2019. I so miss visiting these magical places & feel lucky I have this footage to reminisce with a dram or two 🥃😉

Ben, I love these kinds of videos. With COVID, I know you can't get out and about as much as you want to (& being a Dad now!), but these give us all a great idea of what it's like ... and the hopes of treading in your footsteps by doing that same tour. I did the Master Blender tour at Glengoyne at the end of last year. Well worth it. Lots of fun. :)

I've still got a backlog of footage from other distilleries to get through - hopefully by the time I finish those I will be planning my next visits! 😁 I'd really love to do that Master Blender tour & experience at Glengoyne, have eyed it up several times but not got around to it yet. Great video Ben! Went on this tour and also GlenGoyne in 2017. Deanston is a favorite. Only usually get only the 12 year old here in AZ.Cheers!

Ahh both great distilleries, in tour experiences and core ranges! The limited runs of interesting cask finishes Deanston do always seem to be worth trying, but their core range are a safe bet 😁 🤞 We'll be back to travelling with some normality again soon. Cheers Scott! 🥃👍

Love seeing the rick house and the barrels. That must have been a cozy dram with that 16yo at cask strength. Thanks for sharing it.

I was enjoying myself a little too much when we got around to the last cask and didn't notice my camera had stopped recording! The Warehouse tasting was definitely worth doing though some of the best whisky they shared with me was the limited releases in the distillery shop! I walked away with a 12YO Palo Cortado I think, that stuff was tasty Cheers Carlos San Diego! 🥃👍

Wonderful tour Ben. The tour guide was great with the previous history of the place and Whisky production geekery. After two years of rescheduling I hope to be there in May. Having some Deanston 12 while watching. Cheers

I condensed the Heritage tour (history as you walk along the river & village) down as I wanted to keep it relatively punchy, but there was a lot more info & stories he shared - a great precursor to the distillery walk around as it gave a lot of context. Cheers Tim! 🥃👍

Ben, I enjoyed this video and it brought back some good memories of my 2 visits to Deanston in 2019. The 1st was in April when Roy picked me up from my Glasgow hotel and took me to Deanston. We planned to do the warehouse tasting but it was fully booked so we did a nice whisky and chocolate tour instead. When I returned to Scotland in October of 2019, I visited Deanston again and did the Warehouse 4 Tasting that time. It was in late October and about 6 weeks after you were there. I sampled the same 3 casks that you did. The tasting participants were allowed to sign the top of the casks that were sitting around. I remember seeing your Whisky Geek name on one of those casks. Haha yeah there were a few whisky tube signatures on there! Really enjoyed the visit & of course the whisky. The Warehouse tasting was interesting for me, but the best whisky they shared was definitely some of those limited releases available in the visitors centre! I walked away with a 12 YO Palo Cortado I think, slightly gutted they didn't have the full maturation Bordeaux everyone raves about 😁 Did you eat in the cafe? Jo spent most of her visit in there and the staff looked after her really well. By the time I was done with the distillery they had shut but a nice lady whipped me up a quick sandwich for the road - boy did it hit the spot 😂 Cheers Duane! 🥃👍

@@WhiskyGeek Ben, in 2019 on that same cask head at Deanston I saw 👀 3 other familiar names: Aqvavitae, WhiskyJason and foodquig 👍🏻. I also bought a bottle of the 12 Year Old Palo Cortado during my Spring 2019 Deanston visit. I picked up a bottle of the Travel Retail 10 Year Old Bordeaux at the Glasgow airport during my Fall 2019 trip. Both of those delicious bottles are long gone 😬! I ate at the Cafe during both of my 2019 visits. Roy and I had lunch before our tour in April. Then in October, I had lunch between my tour and the warehouse tasting. Cheers 🥃!

Nice video Ben. Deanston is next on my list of distilleries to visit (has been for a long time) but closer to a reality now restrictions are lifting. 👍

Ben, great tour and history! Got a chuckle of your heading getting cut off while drawing a sample. I only have 3 different "finishings" of Deanston: Brandy, Dragon's Milk Stout and one of my overall favorites, the 2008 9 years all in Red Bordeaux at almost 59% ABV. CHEERS!

When I recorded this I had just broken 700 subscribers (the tour guide asked me), I'd like to think I've come far enough now to actually check I've framed the shot properly 😅 Some of those finished whiskies they had in the gift shop were really special, pricey too, but the 12YO Palo Cortado I walked away with was excellent. I've read a lot of people loved that Red Bordeaux! Cheers DJ Beacon! 🥃👍

would you review the Benriach anytime soon, I would to see what's your opinion in the smoky ten ,in particular ,I really enjoy peated whiskies from Speyside, I find a very nice meaty smoke with honey cone , I am a new subscriber, cheers to you all the way from Arkansas USA

It's not one I currently have in the collection though I have seen that and the 12yo at decent prices. I'm interested to give them another try as the last 2 (old range) didn't really impress me. Cheers Green Valley 🥃👍
