Dean Another Great Video... Been turning some of your Snowman Icicles with my twist to them.. This is another great one to add to my tool kit, Thanks for all the Helpful Hints.... After putting a drill through my wrist a couple years ago (Standing on a ladder, Snapped the Bit and Threw me to the Ground put the bit Through and Through..LOL) I use my drill press to drill all the ornaments I make ( I realize you are showing folks they don't have to have a drill press to do this process) I'm a little gun shy after my accident..LOL.... for my Eyelets I twist small gauge galvanized wire over an old roofing nail... makes a super cheep eyelet that you can super glue into the top instead of using screw eyes.. Again thanks for the Videos

Thanks for the video! Beautiful bell. Love these simple projects. Going to head out to the shop to make some of these now. I do have one question though. You listed all the tools, except the sandpaper you use. I have been using Norton paper, but its stiff...the stuffyou are using looks like its soft, fabric like, and seems to get right into the nooks and crannies. What is that? It could be huge for all the little ornaments I'm making right now. Thanks!!

Love your videos Dean, turned my first ever snowman on my lathe last night…his hat had a few chunks, but I’m going to practice up for next year….want to THANK YOU for inspiring me to turn…one question though, the sandpaper you use, what brand is it, I haven’t seen any that pliable… Thanks again!!
@gobblerchaser
@gobblerchaser 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dean...I have a question about the limb you are using. You say it is dry and has been laying around a while. How long has it been drying? How do you prevent cracking or checking? Do you treat it with end grain sealer? Do you dry it with the bark on it? Will it crack after turning if it still has the pith in it?
@DeansWoodworking
@DeansWoodworking 2 жыл бұрын
There is not a real good answer for your question. in 2017 I turned multiple pieces like the one I used in this video, I coated them with bees wax on the lathe and used a cloth to melt it into the wood. This was just an experiment for me and I wanted to see what happened. The oak did not crack or cracked very little. others split wide open. I have had no problems with them cracking after they are dry. These have been in the house with air able to circulate around them for almost 5 years. I hope that helps, Thanks for Watching!!!
