In this video Canadian Guitarist/producer Dean Wolfe reacts to Alip Ba Ta and his newest song/video Pagebluk.
A LITTLE ABOUT ME: I'm Dean Wolfe, a mostly self-taught Canadian guitarist/composer/multi-instrumentalist/singer/producer/performer. I started out as a full time musician on the road at age 17 for two years, but went part-time ever since while holding day careers including as a chef and in spiritual health care while raising a family.
I've recorded hundreds of my own songs- many being used in media and award winning documentaries etc. I've been in several bands including a prog/jazz fusion act nFuze, performing in International Jazz festivals and jazz clubs. I abandoned the prog genre more or less back in the 1990s but have returned to it now with vigour a full 30 years later- so much prog I've ignored and quite frankly didn't have any idea about. My own prog band was rejected by record labels as "too progressive' in the late 80s, so i detoured into grunge, pop and alternative instead (then folk and acoustic fingerstyle guitar and ambient electric as well).

This is one of bunch of his originals. It's express the sadness, chills, scares an hopes from this pandemic. Pagebluk it self means some kind of disaster by outbreak like pandemic. which the similar situation has been happened in Java - Indonesia hundred years ago where countless of lifes taken away in almost likely overnight by some unknown disease. Thank you for reacting and analyzing to the arrangement Alip made. "Pagebluk" is Alip's mother language, Javanese language, which means Epidemic/Pandemic. This song is originally created and arranged by Alip BaTa himself. His body language or gesture at the end of the song, closely related to the meaning of "Pagebluk".

"Pagebluk" is Javanese word mean "pandemic / disease" in English. In the past, we Indonesian especially in Java island have deadly pandemic (or endemic if this local disease for specific region). The condition at that was very worst. You sick at morning then die in night, ir you sick at evening then die next morning Maybe alip compose this song to express current situation, not only happen in Indonesia but across the globe

"Pagebluk" is a Javanese word, means plague. I think, the transition from traditiinal/classic tunes into modern tunes reflects the end of the plugue, changed by hope and restoration.
