Today we are back talking about the land issues in Ghana. A lot of African Americans in the diaspora have invested in land (or in some cases free land with the ASEBU PROJECT).
However, this has been considered a dangerous idea by many in the African American Community.

The same potential conflict over lands and resources. However the difference is that some countries have. Developed their social contracts amongst their various ethnic groups that respect the custodial lands respective to those nations. Part of that social contract is the prohibition of non citizens or foreigners owning freehold title to the lands. What is available are long term leaseholds, up to 50 years. The ethnic custodial lands are akin to what First Nation reservations and ancestral lands are recognized as in the west. They are also not available for sa,e to non members of those First Nations…

There is no such thing as a land sale to foreigners or non citizens in Ghana. That fact, which is per the Ghana Constitution and the 2020 Restatement of the Land Act, is the law of the land. Folks have to do their due diligence with this fact in mind. Any information to the contrary should be taken as a set up to be scammed and relieved of your hard earned cash. No argument. No push back. Test it at your own peril, but do not come back crying foul after the fact!! Do the homework. Or flunk the exam. It’s a choice!

For some time, a mixed message came from some Ghana officials to the diaspora, welcoming them to "come home." But based on this report, it seems like the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing in government, and that miscommunication fueled the scams.

Rarely see any Europeans tho, in fact I've never seen any one irl in my entire life and I'm 20. But for some reason the black Americans here just wat to live lavishly and majority of the time provide no real value compared to the chinese so infact, I'm more than grateful that the Chinese people are here🗿

Ghana….. You need to go after the people selling the land. Black Americans do NOT know where to buy land unless someone drives them to the land. Now, if it is not free then the black people are being scammed. If the land is sold repeatedly, then the people are thieves and need to be arrested and punished by your Law. Black Americans are NOT rich/wealthy. They have meager funds. They only want to return to live a life that is less stressful than living in the American hemisphere. Black Americans are INNOCENT. They want to be your friends. I have several friends here in the USA that are from Africa. Thank you.🌱

Immigration anywhere in the world is always bound to set in friction with local or indigenous communities. Right now we are witnessing a somewhat similar problem in Chicago where local underprivileged AA communities are feeling left out claiming immigrants are being prioritized over them. Ironically some of those immigrants to America also include Africans. Immigration has to be done with atmost care & consideration for local communities not to feel disenfranchised. Nonetheless the same sentiments apply with local communities anywhere in the world immigration is taking place. It doesn't matter whether poor Africans in Africa or rich Americans in America. Middle class whites also feel threatened by immigration into their own communities..

You know what the main problem with bribing a chief. You never know the day that chief will be gone and one has to deal with a new chief, new law. No possibility of getting scammed on a “land sale” in Ghana. Mainly due to the fact that there is no such thing as sale or conveyance of freehold title to land available for non citizens or foreigners in Ghana. What is available are long term leaseholds, up to 50 years. This appears to be the case across west Afrika. If there are examples to the contrary in West Afrika; Côte d’Ivoire? Togo? Benin? Naija? It's not hard to say that a fee is paid each year that goes into a committee that is for the community to have growth. The fact is that buying land is dicey anywhere in the world that you buy it. My experience in the US taught me that you must be vigilant before during and after buying the land and that includes what is under the surface of the land. I almost lost property in Louisiana years after buying it and paying all taxes through an inside job inside a government agency. My family almost bought land that didn’t really belong to the purported owner. Another family member bought 100 acres of land but ended up with only 70 because some of the land was surrounded by others land and they had no access. I can go on and on.about the underhanded schemes that I’ve seen in the US. So where you buy. And understand the process flow all steps and trust no one .

The same HATRED, JEALOUSY, and ENVY are still present. Acknowledge it and adjust accordingly. That is, benefit the locals. Secondly, remember that we are only guests there even if we are citizens. Another great video! I'm a little disappointed with this is nonsense and simply not worth the headache. I'm all for hiring people in the community as a way to help out but it Sounds like we need bodyguards to feel safe! They don't need that when they move abroad! People, there are so many other countries in Africa that will welcome us and we won't have to go through all of this. Look to Southern African countries and maybe Kenya as well. Our ancestors were kidnapped and were sent all over the world. We want to return to our motherland and are being bullied and intimidated. Makes no sense to me. People of all nationalities are always coming into America and given the same opportunities that we are. When we come with our American dollars we are spending and helped the indigenous communities in many ways. I live in an America, in an area with people from the African Continent and they have purchased homes and own businesses just like me and I support them here. Why would I want to invest in Ghana if they are threatening our people for wanting to be home?! Makes no sense! I'd rather take my American dollars and go build in another part of the continent and improve life for everyone there rather than somewhere I'm not wanted. Their president Nana needs to do more to protect us! The "others" are protected. I guarantee you if we took our money in heavily invested in other parts, together Ghana would take so many steps back they'd beg us to return. Then maybe they would see we are an asset. There are sooo many other countries to consider on the continent. I'm so sick of this BS!

@UnveiledBeliever. Most of the time, some of the people commenting on this land/property issues in Africa, have no clue about land ownership even in their country of citizenship. I'll suggest you consult big estate agencies in any African country where you want to buy land/property from, to get more information, and when you are buying land anywhere, use the services of an international lawyer who is also a citizen of that country where you are buying land from if you are transacting from the diaspora, or have an international lawyer in the US/UK liaise with that lawyer on your behalf. Just do a Google search of real estate companies in that country, or ask anyone from that country you know and whom you can trust. It's best to buy through estate companies rather than from individuals who may have sold the land to several other people. Then make sure you get your title deed and certificate of occupancy through that real estate agency. It's also important to check zoning restrictions before committing to a purchase, some lands have been marked by government for future roads, drainage or location for some communal infrastructure, so buying such land put you at risk of loosing it. You just have to do your due diligence. It's very possible to buy and own land in major cities in Nigeria such as Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Ibadan, Akure etc and even some rural areas if you become naturalized or if you just want to do business. However, owning land does not automatically grant you residency. Foreigners cannot own land outright in Nigeria regardless of whether you are black or white or Asian or Arab, instead they can obtain what is known as a 'leasehold'. This essentially means that you, as a foreigner, can lease the land for a long period, typically for 99 years. As an African, I wouldn't buy property in the USA if I'm not naturalized, whether the US constitution allows it or not, because what if something happens that can lead to loosing the property, which could be anything.

Of course they will fight for their lands, of course they won't just fold their arms and do nothing.....This is gentrification in its purest format....the same way Jamaican fishermen are pushed out from their fishing waters because the beaches have been sold to resorts....There must be a plan to benefit both parties and not boycott them to deal with dodgy chiefs.....

Im convinced that we are not supposed to buy land nor be prevented from moving where we want on this planet. We've been put on this planet by the most high to be good stewards of land instead trading it between ourselves

it was honestly depressing viewing how the majority live, the burning trash made it hard to breath. The village was a little better but it was a desert.

You must separate the Pan African village Gifts of plots with $1,200 for Land Registry fee and Road development to the Site at Asebu from people buying private plots or lands in Ghana. Conflating the two is ridiculous.
