People have used the bible to prove why it's ok to "spank" our kids but it was also used in improper context during slavery. Rods are not used to hurt the sheep but gently remind them of where they need to go. "Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of correction will drive it far from him. @@ksww525 Correction is needful as parents---as God, our loving heavenly Father models this for us---He too disciplines us, his children who have been adopted into the family of faith, when we stray from "the path"---that is to say, the path of Life. My grandson did the exact thing. My grandson lied to me about pulling all of the cotton from the bottom of the mattress because his father no mother would buy him brand new gym shoes. I made him go back in the room and put each piece of cotton back into the places where he took it from the bottom of the mattress and he didn’t have to apologize for lying and he was not to get any Christmas gifts. I love him but I certainly do not want him at the hands of the law as he become older thinking this is the way he resolve his issue of anger and disappointment. I agree with you Tabitha. You are right on point, Sis. My Mom was a stickler for consistency. Her Nos meant no and she didn't deviate from the punishment she inflicted on you. We certainty knew not to challenge her. Mom did not play. When she said something, she meant it. If you lied or stole, you got your butt tore up and a severe punishment. It was like being in prison camp. I thank her for being the disciplinarian she was. I didn't understand it then, but I appreciate it now. As all of my siblings are won derful. None on drugs or been to jail and I attribute that mostly to our upbringing. Mom was a praying and God fearing Woman. God knows, I'm glad she prayed for me. Whew! She gave us much love, but she didn't play. People, discipline your children and be consistent. I promise, they'll be just fine. They'll still love you. Stop trying to be their friend and just be the Parent.

My 8 year old, 12 year old & 4 year old have recently started telling me lies, and I am like, Huh? who you think stupid? & its just allot to deal with but you are right, we have to be consistent, guides and take away privileges & even though they might hate us for it, it will be temporary because they will correct the negative behavior, & thank us as adults, as they see, people who weren't "parented" or taught these lessons & what those unparented people grow through as they struggle out in the real world. I was not "parented" so I am trying my best from scratch & I meditate on the Most High God to give me the peace, patience, consistency and strategy. I had to ground my 9year old son right Thanksgiving break and he continued to stay grounded the ENTIRE break because he FINALLY admitted to disobeying and lying. I also told him that he might as well come clean about ANYTHING ELSE he's ever lied about, take his consequences and learn in order to grow and do better. He admitted to taking food without permission, I explained to him that doing so was a form of STEALING! It was hard to stand ground being that I've never had to ground him for that long because we do everything together. I knew I had to stand my ground, I took EVERYTHING out of his room except daily needs and his bed and put them in the garage. All he could do was reading and anything else educational but that was it. He's finally slowly but surely getting off punishment and I know he's learned his lesson and will do better moving forward. Oh how the universe is so wonderful to me it seems every time I think about something, say something, do something it shows up in my face the next day. something about it shows up either, I'm reading it or I'm watching it or what have you. I am going through this same thing with my daughter. I took all of her electronics from her and yes I did feel bad, so it was just going to be for one day which was actually a downgrade from a punishment I had already thought of that I took back because I'd felt bad. But then she got so upset with me and something that I called some years back and said that she would do, happened. She became angry and said she hated me. Now I'm not hurt by these words because I said years ago that this day would come, so it doesn't bother me but I know I must stay strong and keep this punishment which is now for a week. Thank you for this video.

Mrs. Tabitha, your words really spoke to me. In fact, it's exactly what Hebrews 12:6-11 says. I am a Grandmother of a 5 year old boy by the name of Kaison who is my pride & joy! Every friend, neighbor and relative will bear witness that if you do anything to him it's just as if you did it to me. Every person in this whole Country of USA should remember how their parents were with them so they can help this generation of young people develop a sense of morals and respect. I know everyone didn't have a two parent household and I am one of them but I did have my Grandparents and teachers, counselors, even older neighbors who I received discipline from along with my Mom who raised 8 children. Nevertheless, I can say that because I had a village of persons who wouldn't accept nothing but my best that I am still here and can teach my grandson what it means to honor his parents as well as any adult who deserves honor. I really appreciate you sharing your experience and I pray that those who desire to actually listen to your sincerest expressions will help their young people grow to develop the kind of character that will impact this darkened world in a positive way. Thanks for your sharing this along with everything else you strive to do in a way that shows love in action. AMT from Alabama
