New life comes from the ashes of the old. That was deep. I love how you mentioned Paul telling us to give thanks in all things, not for all things, but in all things. Death is definitely not the end.

This is an excellent excellent essay. Well put together and well delivered. I love the background music. It really compliments the whole poem. We might not know why what we want doesnt happen all the time or why things we don't want happen sometimes. One thing is for sure, the God we serve have all things planned out and his plan is always good for us. Lets see hope in the darkest hours knowing that God is in charge of all things. Thanks for sharing this. God's Blessings

Thanks for the video, I’m afraid I missed where the father was suicidal? Do you mind guiding me to that part of the poem please?

Hi, it's been awhile since I recorded this, but I don't think I said the father was suicidal. What I discuss in my essay is his unhealthy fixation in his dead child and becoming immersed in grief and bitterness. You can read the essay here. It is footnoted with line references for each argument. anunexpectedjournal.com/death-grief-and-hope-in-pearl/ If you wanted to make an argument that he was suicidal, you could refer to section 20 where he talks about seeing his daughter across the stream in the heavenly kingdom, the stream representing death.

@@RaisedtoWalkTV thanks for the reply, and for the help! I was looking at a few different commentaries and I think one of those might have said that the father was suicidal which I just did not get. I really enjoyed how your video essay was almost a devotional. Thank you again!
