Personally, I think Light as a detective would never be able to catch L-kira for a simple reason: Light specifically chose heart attacks to put attention on the fact that somebody is punishing criminals. L would never do that, because he doesn't need to be recognized as the god of a new world like Light does. Therefore, even if L actually decided to start to punish criminals, he would probably do so in a way that nobody could suspect that somebody is behind these deaths - some would die from heart attacks, some from aneurysms, some from car accidents, some weird epidemic in the prisons... it would be impossible to try to tie these diverse occurrences to human will, especially if cleverly spreaded in a long period of time. It would suit L's personality, to be completely hidden and yet work behind the scenes. Detective Light wouldn't even understand that there is a mass murder going on.

I think it's wrong to assume that L wouldn't reveal his existence to the world just because he has a different personality. The reason why Light chose to make the killings obvious wasn't just his need for recognition, he also did it with a very specific effect in mind: He wanted to deter people from committing crimes in the first place. In the show, crime rates drop to an all-time low after Kira appears. If L were Kira, that wouldn't change.

Light would never catch L. In terms of deductive ability I'd say Light and L are about equal but their dispositions are so contrary that I don't think Light would ever be able to corner him the way Light was. I think L would actually taunt Light more than Light taunted L, in fact. He'd leave clues and see how far Light could go
@wizardsmix7961

This is wrong. The reason L lost in the first place is his morality and goals were holding him back. Despite how confident L was in Light being Kira, he still held off final judgement in favor of wanting definitive proof. Light wouldn't have done that. In the same situation Light would probably just have L killed in some form or fashion and win significantly earlier on.
@UniGya

@@wizardsmix7961 the whole point of the arc where Light gives up his memories is to show that Light, without the temptation of the Death Note, is just as if not more moral than L. I could see Light being pushed to kill L himself if their roles were swapped but it wouldn't be a victory for him. If that happened I guarantee you it would end with L laughing as he bled out about how Light lost their battle of wits and Light would be completely destroyed by what he had done.

If Light had the power of near infinite money and were the sole detective in charge then that granted power would trigger his god complex and ego to surface as well. @@wizardsmix7961 Oh no, there is absolutely no way that any amount of money could trigger Light's god complex anywhere near as hard as the Death Note and saying otherwise is just plain idiotic. The Death Note made him go crazy because it's literally godly power, he had power no other human being had and that reinforced the idea that he was above everyone else. L is rich, sure, but even he isn't the richest person on the planet. Plus, if that kind of thing were able to trigger his God complex he wouldn't even be a detective, he would be using his money to do what all rich people do to change the world: politics.

@@UniGya You think having 70 BILLION DOLLARS wouldn't enable someone's god complex enough to commit murder? I'm sorry, but that's just you being out of touch with reality. He would be a detective due to how the experience allows him to flex his intelligence and prove he is smarter than everyone else by becoming the best detective, furthering his god complex. Light had the death note and could've easily used it to make sweeping political moves with it. Instead he spends the vast majority of the time competing against L because he craves the intellectual competition due to it curing his boredom. There's no reason to believe he would use the money to seek out politics and it makes infinitely more sense that he would use the money to enable his ability to compete intellectually as a detective.

I think L would strategically use the Death Note to kill far fewer people and enact far bigger changes. Like, he’d kill an evil dictator’s brother in a way that makes it look like assassination, putting the dictator on edge and causing him to make some kind of mistake L would predict, that leads to the dictator creating a situation that leads to US intervention ultimately causing an entire oppressed people to become less oppressed. Or something like that. Then Light would just be in college or whatever.

Light is more emotional and willing to take on more risk. L is colder and more methodical. With that said, I don't think L's sense of justice would be enough for him to use the Death Note as Light did. He would perhaps test it out on a death row inmate, but then take a different approach. I think a lot has to be said for the experience gap too. L has been solving cases worldwide, always things the police could not solve, since a young age. That will have tempered his emotional side, led to ways of thinking that aren't easy. If Light swapped lives with L, he'd potentially have gotten all that experience while L (now a top level student in Japan) would not have had, at most helping just a tad in a few of his father's cases. It's easy to understand why. If Light had decent experience of how police operate, or had escaped capture three or four times by that point, it's unlikely he would have fallen into the Lind L Taylor trap. A true swap would leave us with a version of Light experienced in catching criminals, and an L with little to no experience evading capture.

The thing is, L was already brilliant from the get-go. L didn't need all that experience to be great, he was already at max level when ge was starting his first case. It's like going into a level 1 boss battle having already maxed out stats in everything. So while I do agree with your proposition, it'll be irrelevant. Light is intelligent but he's not L level. L managed to narrow down the search from the entire world to only a specific area in Japan. And L's kira would be different from light's. Meaning L wouldn't take the same baits that light did. L would have noticed in advance the traps being set for him and would have entirely avoided it. (i.e., he wouldn't fall for the Lind L. The character study is amazingly complex and tthought-out. It's interesting to listen and provides a great understanding. I applaud. However, I disagree with your conclusion. I would actually like to see Light figure out Ryuzaki-Kira's identity in a different, more fitting to their personalities way. With such high stats that got him to be the number one student in the original story, I wouldn't say he's that much inferior to L. In fact, I believe some of his flaws can also be his advantages. As was said, Light is extremely egocentric and can't stand loosing, so he'd stop at nothing and there's no chance he'd drop the Kira's case until he'd convicted them. Imagine that: the greatest detective of all time was outplayed by someone! That'll be such a blow to his reputation, he can't allow it! So Light would definitely go the insane distance to catch Kira. Which makes me wonder, how differently his methods would be, based on his cunning nature, acting skills, his social skills or his relentlessnes and much more defined lack of care for other people, intertwined with his yearn for justification. At same time, there's Ryuzaki, of whom it was stated that he's curious and using death note out of boredom and doesn't have the need to be considered a god... But then why would he spend his days just laying low, devotedly writing down the names like it's some kind of life purpose? He'd get bored pretty qquickl without stimuli, that Light can provide. So he'd be eager to give light clues as well, to keep the game going. Though, perhaps for a more social reason than Light did. Ryuzaki was pretty lonely, afterall. (Though there's also a theory that Light wasn't acting impulsively just because of his ego, but due to unmet social needs as well. Like, winning was a lesser priority and motivation compared to seeing people's reaction to him revealing his identity and seeking some sort of twisted validation for it. Maybe he just felt pressured from having to be such a role model all the time and it was a for m of rebellion and a search for freedom...?) Anyway. Light and Ryuzaki are covered, but they weren't the only ones who influenced the way the story unfolded. The second Kira, aka Misa Amane, (who's now should be on Ryuzaki's side, since he's Kira now, and Ryuzaki kinda liked her, so it would be plenty different. And Ryuzaki is not as good-looking or rich or charming as Light in this, so I wonder if that plays a role or not... He's somewhat nicer though.), she revealed a lot about supernatural side of the killings. She also often acted unpredictable, impulsive and is probably easy to lead on, so that would might help the investigation as well. Thank you for reading through this long post, if you did. As I said, the analysis was delectable, so it would be curious to see, how an application of said traits from both Light and Ryuzaki would make a story, had they switched places. Also, happy upcoming New Year. :)

Even when L was lonely he lied to Light as its known he's lonely he used this to trick light in thinking he's desperate for friends. I agree with your overall reasoning I will point out however that while L-Light would have all the character flaws you pointed out of his non-Kira persona, there were times where he was shown to be capable of surpassing L's intellectual capability such as when during the Yotsuba Arc he was able to notice a correlation that not even L could, which the narrative portrayed as "godly" This to me means Light could possibly win against Ryuuzaki/Kira if in absence of the Death Note he managed to achieve his full intellectual potential, which could reach a superhuman-level(by Death Note's standard of superhuman) That however is still very unlikely as Light at the beggining of the series, which is the one being put in the role of L, would still be immature and not achieved his hypothetical peak alongside being plagued by the same character flaws already pointed out, while L would be L

I think L could be provoked, Light certainly knew how to piss him off like with the "shinigami likes apples" riddle It's just that he's much more difficult to set off and lose his composure than Light who went nuts over a random cop calling him evil It's pretty big maturity gap
@AventSir

I thought about that too, but that depends if L as Kira has any glaring characteristics and motives as a killer besides being bored in this scenario. Where Light as Kira can be psychoanalyzed and you can atleast see a immature sense of right and wrong. Tho canon Light as Kira can def provoke L as a detective, his dead ends and misdirections are super good. Situation based scenarios go differently compared to usual VS battles.

The shinigami likes apple riddle isn't even the best stomp of Light it's his memory swap plan which stomps L to realize he may never be able to catch Kira if Kira can swap bodies whenever to avoid capture. Making him severely unmotivated.

I believe that Light might use the resources from L in a similar fashion as he did with the Death note. He wants to be noticed and become justice incarnate, while L would likely try to stop Light from abusing his power and authority. Basically, the only thing to change is Light now has money instead of a magical book, and L has a magical book and no money. I feel like everything else in the show/manga would occur in a similar fashion to this hypothetical scenario, and I would like to see something like this.

If the two were to truly swap places... Well, keep in kind that L's background also includes analyzing and solving countless cases from a very young age; it's the biggest thing that allowed him to hone his logical side and temper his emotional one. Give that experience instead to Light and have the two completely trade roles, and honestly there's no reason to say the result would be all that different (if indeed at all). As a couple of points in the video showed, they're both products of their respective circumstances. Odds are a full-on swap of the two would have the same result as the original, just with Lawliet doing the dirty work. Although if you were to go the other route, keep their origins the same but have L be the one to discover the Death Note... And yeah, L would be smart enough to use it strategically and likely be a lot more subtle about it so as to not draw attention to himself. Really, there's a pretty realistic chance that the whole Kira phenomenon would never have taken off with L managing the page, in which case Light wouldn't even be a factor since it's heavily unlikely he'd ever find out. Now, let's say L made a tactical slip-up and did end up drawing Light's suspicions and kick-starting widespread investigations. Would he be able to solve the whole mess or get anywhere close to L? Possibly, but it would be a pretty big uphill battle. He has apparently assisted the police in solving cases in the past, but this would be well beyond the scope of anything he's likely to have covered before, and there's also the matter of his ego as well as being more hesitant to accept unconventional and/or supernatural concepts than L is (recall that in the actual material he initially thought the Death Note was some elaborate prank object and came very close to just abandoning it). And while Light's deductive skills are very impressive, he lacks the level of psychological understanding that L demonstrates. He could pull it off in theory, but he would need a lot of help and to find an actual avenue he could get to L through which would NOT be easy (in the series proper, L came to him; in this scenario he has little if any reason to do that. Granted, L can't be TOO passive if he's called upon by the police here since it would be too unusual for him to not show any interest or active efforts in the investigations and he would want to avoid stirring any real suspicions, but he is still WAY better-protected than Light is here). There's really only one person who can realistically give even a vague profile of what kind of person L is, and as far as I can tell it's unlikely she'd have have any reason to get involved since I think L would be smart enough to not give Pember the axe (outside of an extraordinarily unlucky circumstance). Basically, the odds work heavily against Light ever catching L, but on the flip-side of that it's unlikely he'd die either. (EDIT) Thinking about it more, I realized there's one other huge loose end in this scenario: Misa. In the series proper, her big reverence for Kira comes from the fact that Light killed the person responsible for her family's deaths... who would otherwise most likely have gotten away with his crime scot-free, and it's heavily unlikely L would have intervened in her case in any way, so it's pretty likely she would not hold Kira in as hugely positive a light. It's also unclear how she would use her knowledge of Shinigami and Death Notes without having her Kira obsession as a catalyst. If she did use it some way I think L would be likely to view her as a convenient scapegoat at best, or a detriment at worst (letting a rogue Death Note bearer run amok would present him with too many risks; he would want to eliminate that loose end ASAP, and finding her would be even less difficult of a task for L in this scenario since it's pretty likely he'd have knowledge of the Shinigami Eye deal at that point). She'd be pretty unlikely to turn to the police, too, so I don't think she'd offer Light any insights as to how the Death Note works were they to meet; at least not without some serious convincing. Misa's role in this seems like it would potentially be pretty short-lived; if L figured her out he could easily arrange an "accident" and remove her from the equation without drawing any serious attention to himself.

Reminder that L was only willing to get 100% proof to convict Light. If Light were evil he might not care and capture him. But even L didnt care about using Illegal means such as wire tapping as long as he got proof afterward. Correction at 4:42 Magical thinking is the believe that one can have a magical influence over events through unrelated actions, i.e. believing that if you arrange the books on your shelf a certain way (or fail to do so) that someone will die. It's actually often related to anxiety & OCD, as people with magical thinking fear that they will cause something bad to happen if they fail to take some action. It is not a god complex.

Really good, well thought out video, you clearly have a deep and nuanced understanding of these characters. Another thing that I think would keep L from getting caught or at least make it even harder is his self awareness, which plays into his emotional intelligence like you mentioned. He says part of why he can understand how Kira thinks and acts is because he has the same hatred of losing, which he himself refers to as childish. He'd be more likely to recognize how his flaws might come back to bite him beforehand and then work to accommodate them from the beginning rather than making a huge mistake and pivoting to change his M.O. only after the damage has been done and he's royally screwed himself over. If Light were to try to pull a Lind L. Taylor on him, it wouldn't work because even if L did get riled up by being taunted like Light did he wouldn't let it cloud his judgment to anywhere near the same degree (but I also think it would be way, way harder to rile L up at all). Let's be real, Light had a MASSIVE advantage over L that even having an ungodly amount of money and resources wouldn't come close to replicating. I feel like if anything, to make it an actual contest L would have to purposefully handicap himself to 'even' the playing field.
@reflex9238
@reflex9238 8 ай бұрын
A big thing that I noticed that you more or less proved yourself wrong here is the fact that as you stated "L took on the Kira case as a challenge of his intellect". The main point you made was the fact that L would never make the same mistake because his ego never got in the way, however this same ego that you brought up from L is the exact same reason that why Light even decided to further engage with L because Light also wanted a challenge, and this was after the Lind L Tailor murder because Light still could've just not done anything in regards to trying to find L's identity as this wouldn't have been enough to catch Light. Given this hypothetical assumes Light has all of L's resources and still has his personality nothing much would really change since L like Light also wanted a challenge, so L would've most likely wanted to challenge Light in some way. How L would've gone about this might way difference than how Light would but overall it'd go the same. While Light does slip up and have his moments there is a certain degree in which Light needed to do so because then he'd never get close to L something which Light stated many times over in the manga.

L would never get caught. For one, L is extremely anti-social, which means that he would never intentionally put himself in the spot light. And the only way to catch someone with a death note is for that to happen, for L to intentionally let Light catch on to him, never happening. Second, L is actually way smarter than Light, and that has everything to do with the fact that L has a more controlled ego, he would simply kill better and more efficiently. To the point that the the existence of a death note would never be on the table.

I think people forget that Ryuk dropped his Death Note in the first place because he was bored of normal Shinigami work. So he let a mortal putz around with the Death Note for a while just to entertain himself. L is not someone who feeds into other people’s desires for entertainment or satisfaction. He wants to learn everything, solve mysteries and be a great detective (something he can still do if he had Light’s start instead of his normal one, Light grew up in a police detective’s family so of course L would do the same if L had the same start as Light). L would experiment with the Death Note, however, so maybe the first few deaths could be traceable, but the moment L finds the limits of the Death Note he would be done with it. L can probably see the danger of Ryuk getting bored and potentially offing L once Ryuk has had enough, so it’s possible the challenge of keeping Ryuk entertained would propel L to become Kira. But on the other side, let’s consider Light with L’s OG story start. Light may be just as intelligent as L, but he’s a narcissist and he thinks very highly of himself. Growing up in a household of geniuses like L did would constantly beat down that ego and force Light to either confront reality and give up, or to rise through sheer force of will and be the best genius out of everyone. So Light with L’s start would be ruthless, no nonsense and extremely efficient, his narcissism being fed by persevering and overcoming the geniuses around him. Arrogance backed by experience and honed by a crucible of constant reminders of his own inferiority relative to others in that house is an unbeatable arrogance. It’s one based on what Light proved he could do, and he would constantly challenge the other geniuses to test to see if he could beat them yet or not. In short, Light could be the catalyst to improve and refine the genius intellects that came from that house, and in turn even if he’s not as smart or as capable as those geniuses he would find ways to “defeat” them and establish himself as the best intellect of that house. Light’s ego wouldn’t have it any other way. In other words, Light would become a real menace if he had L’s start. I don’t think Light would turn to crime, but his sense of righteousness would propel him to act outside the law a time or two… possibly in a high-profile manner, the perpetrators of which wouldn’t be discovered, but for L in Light’s start… what perfect way to keep Ryuk entertained than to use the Death Note to lure out a killer masquerading as an international detective? Light honed through the crucible of geniuses, versus L with a drive to accomplish and learn everything from his “perfect” start… the stage would be set; let the battle begin!!!!!

I feel like some people are overestimating Light's intelligence. He's obviously really smart, especially when it comes to manipulation, but his opponent is a detective who has solved over 3500 cases in no more than 17 years as he didn't join Wammy House until he was 8, and while we don't know when he became a detective, we do know he died at 24 or 25. It could be even less than 17 years, but assuming he had 17 that is an average of 4 cases every week without breaks. L reasonably narrowed down his suspicion to just Light in almost no time, but the difficulty he ran into was being able to prove it when he was up against a hereunto unknown magical system that Light knew all the rules to. And despite that, he still had Light cornered to the point another Shinigami had to interfere and killed him to save Misa. L is a genius without equal and has the experience of working to solve over 3000 cases, so he'd have had more experience than anyone to figure out just what sorts of little details most often get someone caught. If they just swapped roles, Light would never be able to find him. However, from a meta perspective, if the story was written with L as Kira, he would be caught; the author said that he was the smartest person in the entire story "because the plot demanded it." If he wasn't the primary detective, the plot wouldn't need him to be the smartest character anymore, so he wouldn't have been written to be.
@saparapatepete

Another element to consider is that Light created the Kira figure and killed most criminals with heart attacks so people knows that someone is murdering the criminals, that allowed L to know about Kira even if only as an urban legend. Assuming L is only interested in executing criminals without the need of becoming "a god of the new world", then he would cover his tracks by making it all look like accidents. Perhaps Light could still figure out that due to the exponentially increased mortality rate of broadcasted criminals that there's someone setting their deaths. It may take longer, specially if L doesn't take the Lind L Taylor bait. L may have different struggles unrelated to his ego......1- he would probably be unwilling to kill innocents even if it's necessary to keep his cover. 2-He probably won't make an alliance with Misa Misa, because unlike her, there are lines he won't cross and she probably won't fall in love with him. This could quickly turn into a 3 faction conflict. 3- L would probably be alone. Light as kira got his allies by manipulation and for their cult like following of kira and L as a detective got his team by his connections as a detective and wealth, which he wouldn't have as a highschool student.

I think the main argument against L which wasn’t really talked about was the power the death note possessed over its user. The death note, and its story, are derived from the same Greek myth the lord of the rings is based off of. Essentially the myth outlines that action without consequence will corrupt anyone, even if they are the best of the best. There is no more good or evil, it’s simply becomes “what do I want to do today?” If the same logic from the myth and the lord of the rings is to be applied, L would absolutely become corrupted by the death note, maybe making it a little easier for Light to catch him.

While I am not sure how to make that happen with L having a lot more to go with, it would be much more fun because we could have an underdog to root for. We'd even have a story of Light realizing his mistakes of his pride and changing to be better (assuming he doesn't have an incurable problem like sociopathy). *This* would be an interesting story of L representing Light's inner struggles of managing feeling better than everyone else.

I slightly disagree with how you got to the conclusion, I agree Light would never find L as Kira but I feel that's more down to a lack of evidence with L being a lot more careful. When we see light investigating the Kira case with L of that Yakusa group, L stated that Light's deductive reasoning was far greater than his own (at least in the anime). So I agree that Light would have his ego and whatnot with less EQ, but I feel he's not as uninterested as L would be with his child like sense of justice. So he would see certain patterns that no one else would think of, but since L thinks at a similar level and Light I feel would be unwilling to use unethical means to obtain evidence every lead would be substantial at best.

The big question is if L as Kira would kill only by heart attacks. Because by killing through heart attacks Light managed to make crime hit an all-time low since people thought soneone was behind it all. If L had the same attitude, then there's a slightly bigger chance of him being caught. Emphasis on *slightly.*

When you realize Light and L are basically the difference between two similar crazy people but one of them chose to do hard drugs (the deathnote especially with Ryuk basically compares the power to a drug) in this case Light stayed clean and L did the Methnote book thus the difference between them is one is addicted to power the other only wants a challenge

The only reason L lost is because he didn’t really know the rules of the game. In a scenario where he has the death note, he knows the rules. Therefore, he wins

One advantage that should be taken into account is the fact that Light is less likely to operate by the extreme evidence based ruleset. Detective Light Yagami might just send out a hit on Kira and determine his success based on whether the killings stop.

Interesting video but I think you misunderstood light's character. Alot of the traits you got were when he was evil by the notebook. Like he wouldn't control Misa when he lost his memory. Nice theory but it can't be right. Maybe once he lost the notebook it made him good but I'm not confident in that theory. Thanks for making the video it's fun to analyze stuff.

His “evil” aka just Narcissim stems from Light’s constant praise throughout his life, and the death note inflated predisposed characteristics. (Memory wiped Light contemplates about if all criminals should die, which he confirms he probably would agree with deep down) Jungians shadow, basically.

A lot of this hinges on L's willingness to even use the Death Note in the first place. He has no qualms about using it in the pursuit to catch Kira, but nothing other than a morbid curiosity to test its legitimacy would suggest he would ever write a name of his own accord at all. Even if he did take that first life, he might not push further, yet even if he did, he would've immediately started testing its limitations, something Light waited to do, and only really started doing after the confrontation with Lind L. Tailor. Even given Light having access to all of L's resources, I think L-Kira would be nearly impossible to detect even if he did ultimately choose a similar path of cleansing the world of evil. He would already be knowledgeable about how someone chooses to kill, and thus how to avoid falling into similar patterns. His killing ground wouldn't so blatantly point Light-L towards Japan, it would blanket evenly across the world. Even if Light-L somehow deduced that the various methods L-Kira would be using were murders, and there are a lot of creative ways to kill someone, Light-L wouldn't be able to wrap his mind around a single individual pulling it off, never mind that supernatural powers were at play. Even if Light-L somehow managed to come to terms with this, L-Kira would've made how he came by the information needed to kill the criminals all but untraceable anyway. But perhaps most importantly, L-Kira would have patience before even really starting his cleansing. There would be months, if not years, of planning his defenses perfectly against the inevitable global panic once the killing started en masse. His backup plans would have backup plans to a level akin to Batman. In fact, it would take so long to even start, L-Kira would likely also have comparable resources to Light-L by then. An L with the skewed moral compass necessary to become Kira being handed a Death Note would be a terrifying, nigh unstoppable force, and we'd never even see it coming.

Nitpick but I don't think you talked about the fact that while L has better EQ, he can still be emotional, he became depressed (his own words) when Light didn't turn out to be Kira at the beginning of the Yotsuba Arc.

L was a step ahead of Light the whole time, the only moment Light got ahead is when he pushed the unknown rule to their limit. but i think if L got in trouble like Light did, with his social skill, he wouldn't be able to get away with it, but he wouldn't put himself in such a situation in the first place

Light pushed unknown rule (and shinigami) to it's limits, yes. Then again, Misa is the only reason that Light go into that situation which required the plan. Light successfully turned his greatest weakness (Misa and Rem) to his greatest strength and defeated L quite easily. Then again L had no way to outplay that move.

Here’s my thoughts before watching the video. L had a massive hunch about Light and how this power worked early on. L was playing a game he didn’t know the rules to and Light knew every rule and L was as close as he was. If L had the book, he’d no doubt probably never be caught.

Light would catch him far more quickly as L wouldn't be able to play it off, but he'd also likely go for the shinigami eyes deal more easily than Light and basically get an easy W that way.

great video and editing :) impressive analysis of Light's personality
@Psychoanalyze
@Psychoanalyze 8 ай бұрын
This entire video is literally L glaze Firstly, L being smarter than Light is almost completely incorrect, with very little basis besides bias; Ls best feats are against *LOW* experienced Light, who had an inflated ego, it's also important to note that L states he's similar to Light, as well as stating Light has more potential than him as a detective, and Rem even states Ls mind is similar to Light's, which could be referring to intelligence and/or personality, and this is *ESSENTIAL*, because Mello states L becomes more intelligent as time passes, which can be attributed to experience. And this is *LIKELY* to be the case for Light, since his feats only become better and better as the series continues, to which confirms or advocates for many theories supporting Light gets smarter, and might even blatantly surpass L, despite having literally a fraction of Ls experience. 1) Despite Ls characterization, and determination to Light's conviction, Light purposely puts on an act when his dad has a heart attack, and L himself even admits, that he can't tell if Light is acting or not and even questions if Light is actually kira. This all happens after a great multitude of the feats you've given for L took place, which shows that either Light knew and understood L just as much and let him get close, due to egotistical reasons, or Light gets more intelligent has he adapts to L. 2) Light is objectively able to outsmart L more. If you watch SethTheProgammers vid on who's smarter Light vs L, he breaks down who outsmarted who more, or you can do it yourself, but it's almost child's play for how well Light did in comparison to L, the only difference is Light can't ever not be in suspicion or in question until L either gives up, dies, or his manipulated, while each time L outsmarts Light it's more detrimental since he's in suspicion. Essentially meaning *Light is forced to play more accurately*. 3) Light is able outsmart Near and Mello, to which are stated (depending on translation) says, Near and mello are equal and/or surpassing L, and Light had the intellectual capacity needed to beat them, but lost entirely due to plot, since even with mikamis mistake, Giovanni literally did the impossible (copied 124k+ names perfectly, broke into and out of a bank vault twice, and forge a perfect death note on sight and drive to and from the bank, all within 6 - 9 hours) 5) so if we extrapolate on the fact Light gets smarter with ample experience, imagine Light with Ls levels of experience, were talking decades in comparison to Light's what 2 - 5 years ?, and giving L, Light's level of experience ? Its quite literally child's play. Light should be able to at least stalemate L, assuming he doesn't think a kira exists, but assuming a kira does, and L indulges Light, Light would win pretty effortlessly. 6) it's also important to note Light is able to use Deductive, Inductive and abductive reasoning just as well, if not blatantly better than L, since he's working under the assumption (most the time) that L and especially near (showing evidence of intellectual growth) are keeping up by following the trail of clues he leaves, so it's possible, Light completely exceeds Ls capacity for EQ and IQ linearly So do with this what you please, but this video was completely bias towards L

I'll tackle these points in a video next year The memory swap is one of the best plays Light has ever had in planning, and executing different traps and cleared the path for him to go against massive amounts of evidence to prove Misa and he are innocent, which then leads to a huge misdirection of the task force in general. Planned it so Rem would go for someone who would use the DN to gain power so that he could later in his amnesia good Light state be able to pinpoint the next Kira due to personal motivations and nothing crazily hidden. Once gaining the notebook he sets Misa to kill again putting her in danger and forcing Rem to sacrifice themself to save Misa (killing Watari and L in the process) That's the best Light feat ever, which also sets him up to take L's position. Light beats L in planning which has its own subcategories like long-term and short-term term etc. But this video favors L because Light and L are 2 sides of the same coin, but still different in some ways. In some cases, you can say L is a vulnerable narc and Light is grandiose. Light praised his whole life and is actually great at everything in his life, is a bored genius similar to L however he has like maxxed out stats (looks, network, knowledge, and good outsmarting general stats) L as Kira in his life wouldn't have been crazily like this because we know L is athletic, smart and would be bored too. However, without a Soricho type parent, the whole god complex thing doesn't seem plausible, and let's be charitable and say L in canon has a somewhat similar persona he just has better composure. meaning baits like Lind L Tailor he can logically discern, and its not about Light being "dumb" and has bad composure if he's L it just mean baits will be harder to grab L as Kira. Situation-based VS battles are different from raw VS battles in feats. I'll save your points like Near and Mello's IQ for the other vid, narratively they are both different and I'll explain why Near and Mello as a team "beat" Light as stated in the series.

That would be true in a vacuum, but the thing is that L and Near both got an author, power boost at the beginning, and end of the story in order for the plot to function, because neither of them pull the hyper genius level super calculations (and physically impossible setups) necessary to beat Kira except when it’s thematically relevant and never before and after that point, they only make steady progress instead of leapfrogging to the end as the previous pace would imply otherwise possible. If they were switched around, then light, would get the power boost necessary in order to start the plot in the first place

You're going a level too low. This is given the information we have about the characters, not what we think the writers would have written if that makes sense.

@@Gandhi_Physique yes in the end, it all comes down to writers fiat, but that also includes keeping the story going, which is why when the antagonist should have the information they need to actually corner light and keep the plot moving they get it, and if the characters are inverse position, so it’s still happen because the narrative needs momentum which is really all I was trying to say .
