I still say, I got to experience it day 0 with no well trodden paths, just complete fresh lands and everything new, and absolutely an experience, one I tried to reclaim with a play through again a year later, which didn't actually hold the same immersion, but what an experience in gaming

I loved it, especially the bit where you head towards the port with your first encounter with the big monster but the music plays and you're going down the steep cliffs

I can breeze through the game now, but when you’re first getting to grips with the mechanics there’s a real sense of tension and stakes, once you defeat that BT, you feel like you’ve been on the road for an age and you’re looking down on that beautifully crafted port-city, I can’t think of a moment in recent gaming where I’ve let out a bigger sigh of relief. I can’t necessarily articulate what it is this game did, or how it worked, I know the system was basic and at times clunky, but the emotions it evoked were up there with the best media I’ve consumed.

Bro I JUST played last night and witnessed an Alpha BT for the first time. It was between the Craftsman and the Waystation North of Mountain Knot City. I was in a barn, collecting cargo and planning my way out of BT Territory when I walk to the other end of the barn, wait for a second, and see two MASSIVE legs hanging from the edge, I freaked out for a second, went around it and sprayed it with my BT handgun and some hematic grenades

@@shmito_123 yeah that's the place where I first encountered an Alpha BT as well, things are massive. If I remember correctly they can be taken down with 2 or 3 hematic grenades. Edit: I was comeing around the outside of the barn towards the river when i looked back and saw it. I changed my plans and went back to the barn to shoot it with the Anti-BT Handgun lol. They drop so much chirilium!

Well I just called this Alpha since there was no knowledge of them at that point, not even sure there was ever any lore in the game to specify them, I tended not to read all the texts I found in game, so there may be some mention of them, if anyone knows anything, please post.

@@Synnermon Maybe you already know but There is an interview called Giant BTs, and in the interview, it is mentioned that these BTs are larger due to being a fusion of multiple BTs. As a result, this particular BT doesn't have an umbilical cord.

Honestly, the mechanics for BB were not the best, there was very little consequences of giving BB a hard time, and he always got over it if you sit and play your harmonica for him a bit

First time I saw one of these I freaked out, and then I thought, I wonder what it has when you let it transform. A little let down it was only two lions, but yeah, I just walked away from them both first time. Still a scary boss though early(ish) in game

Crazy right. I have been tempted to try it all again with the directors cut. but I'm not sure I can just grind that much again. These actually appear in a couple of places, there's one near the incinerator too

@@Synnermon yeaaaa I'm on my second run but I'm definitely not doing it for a 3rd time. The grind is just too much in this game. The first time I just ran through it cause I wanted to see what the story was about. And now I'm on my second run, I'm just building the ziplines only to enjoy the game more and experience it again in a different way. And I wouldn't bother with the director cut cause it doesn't even add more scenes to the main story. Just some added delivery and a couple of tweaks. A director cut means more scenes to the story not added modes. So that was a big no for me.

And when I swapped to the very hard difficulty, my current weapons weren't enough. ... So I brought in the big one. A target seeking rocket launcher. XD Damn, that was fun.

Very hard mode is the only difficulty worth playing as there's actually very little difference, so why not just max it out.

Yes, it's the oxygen mask, honestly can't remember which person gives you this, but my tactic was to max out each location till it dropped equipment.

as far i can tell, there are 3 alpha BT, one near the evo-devo biologist, where you need to take some samples, one in the abandoned factory and one in the big crater on the way north, were you get a companion cube cargo.. that one is the most intense one to get...

@@JohnSmith-um7iy Yeah exactly, you cut down the alpha and all the attached BTs rise back into the seam of their own accord

I think it was a timing thing, there's a weather mechanic in death stranding thats for the most part random(as far as i know). There are certin parts in death stranding where the timefall can stop and start. Sometimes it can happen when your not in BT territory, but if you wait long enough the timefall can roll in and BTs will appear. In this case the opposite happened at just the right time! Very cool and funny to see.
