This is a channel about crossbow hunting. This is not a channel about shooting big bucks. I don't discriminate--I'll shoot any legal deer. ;) But, sometimes, big bucks happen!
I want to help make KZfaq the #1 place for quality hunting entertainment. I want to help spread the hunting lifestyle. To do that, I set up this channel to showcase the crossbow and help others film their hunts and get those videos online. So, subscribe to this channel to be entertained and learn more about crossbows and filming in the outdoors.
This channel is about my love of the crossbow, hunting, and the outdoors. I hunt exclusively with the crossbow. I love it. Sure, like a lot of kids, I started hunting with a good ol' Model '94 Winchester .30-30 back in the 80's, but drifted away from hunting when I went off to college, law school, and started a family. As my daughter got older, I regained my interest in the outdoors, and I consider myself lucky to hunt on the same property today that I hunted on as a kid. I got the Excalibur Axiom crossbow in 2010 and I haven't looked back. This channel is the result of combining my interest in filming and hunting...
...and music, too! My related channel, Yankee Militia, showcases my music. Some of the music is hunting-related, so check that out, too! The soundtrack for this channel is provided by my band, so the two are intertwined. The albums "Live Free or Kill" and "Zombies Gotta Eat, Too!" are available on Amazon.com and elsewhere. A third album is in the works.
All Hail Bunjie!

Good day Rich, I suggestion ...keep the lighted Nock add a brass insert hundred grains. Add a solid non-mechanical Broadhead A chisel or cut on contact of 150 grains to 200 grains. This will increase your pass-through on pig. The idea is to have 25 to 30% front of center, stabilizer’s faster in the air. The non-mechanical broadhead with no moving parts is less likely to get deflected and lose its momentum. Try one of your old bolt cutter Broadhead you already have some. Try this in your backyard on your brand new pig target compared to your mechanical set up that you presently are using. You will have better penetration guaranteed. I have not tried the single bevel broadhead but it appears there’s nothing better if you make a bad shot. I mean it’s more forgiving if you connect with lots of bone. A pass-through is better then an arrow halfway through the pig running away. This will quiet your crossbow when you shoot. Try this out on your form targets compared to your present set up see what the difference is. Maybe go to this set up next year at the meet and greet

I am trying the Rage crossbow hypodermic NC. Extremely accurate out to 50 yards (didn’t test beyond). Only one complaint - one broadhead had loose screws, barely holding the blades on. Just a quick turn of an Allen wrench and everything was fine. I placed an old leather glove on a target and the broadhead opened flawless. Excited to use these on whitetail this fall.

I do have 50 grain adaptors which will get her heads to 150, if she REALLY wants to use the hypo heads. Let me know and I will send you 3. Jen uses them. Not sure if you saw her arrows at the meat and greet but she likes a 125 grain model but wanted 175. I got her the 50 grain adapters (no gluing or anything like that) and she loves them. If you want to look at them, go to Innerlock website and look under the broadhead tab...all the way to the bottom. Anyways.... The taipan has a heavy (I wouldn't term it pro) like/hate response from Rage fans. Personally I do not know (hands on) anything but I do watch what is going on out there with these. You'r head has a far higher rating among Rage fans. Maybe she is on to something ;)

Love your videos. Question? I just tried the 100 grain trypan today which does not come with a washer. When I tightened the bh on the shaft it seemed to push out the collar notches quite a bit. Almost to a point where I thought it would not hold the blades in flight. Have you any advice on if this is normal or maybe I’m just tightening too much? Thanks
@Deathbybunjie
@Deathbybunjie Жыл бұрын
I haven't used those so I'm not familiar with them, but I suspect you want to tighten it down just enough so it's good and snug, just before it starts to bulge out, and you should be fine. I assume that's the design! Just cite it in with a bunch of my 150 trypans today and I'm pretty excited!

@5:30 Looking at how much bigger the diameter of your arrow is than the diameter of the broadhead's ferrule, you might achieve much better penetration if the reverse were true. (Per Dr. Ed Ashby's lengthy study on Terminal Arrow Performance, Factor #5 of his 12 factors, ranked!) Better penetration is achieved when the diameter of the arrow shaft is smaller than the diameter of the broadhead's ferrule. Hey, don't shoot the messenger! **WinK** Hunt safely, my Friends!
@Deathbybunjie
@Deathbybunjie 3 жыл бұрын
He says like a 5% difference in penetration is all. If you're trying to squeeze all the penetration you can out of a slow trad bow, that matters. With modern xbows...not worth exploring lol

I believe they include a practice point with the Hypodermics and wondered myself why they did not include one with the Trypan. Glad you tested it to confirm the fly like field point accuracy. You can always touch up the dulled blades and use them again. As for the target. They just do to much damage to shoot them to find out how they fly more than once in awhile.
