If you were looking for proof that Bethesda can still make great games, well jog on, you aint going to find it here. Arkane Studios, Lyon made Deathloop. Bethesda just published it. It's a cracking experience, somewhat marred by Denuvo and poor optimisation. Still, for what it's worth, its better than Fallout 76.
Special thanks to Mario J. Martinez, Archangel, Theron, Jason T Barnes, Dean McGee, Steve, Alcoholistair, RageDMX47, Hector Salamanca, Corvo Fox-Gray, FatCat1, Anna Lovatt, Michael Pearce, ATR-42 and all of my Patreon supporters. Their stoic support humbles me.

34:05 agree, that make no sense. For example: you need someone to voice Kratos, does that mean you absolutely have to travel back in time to freaking Sparta to get "correct" actor. But seriously Christopher Judge is as far from being greek as you can get and yet he was perfect for the role.
@ImaginaryCyborg
@ImaginaryCyborg Жыл бұрын
Absolutely agree. Christopher Judge did a crackin job voicing Kratos. So did T.C. Carson in previous iterations. And they are not Greek in the slightest. But I don't care, because their voices are manly, and fitting to the character depicted. For the longest time, I didn't know the voice actors behind Kratos were black. Now that I do know, I don't care. They're both great, and that is the only thing that matters.

Summarized my feelings exactly. Arkane have something here cool here, if they want to expand upon it. I would try to go the route of a dead rising. You play the whole loop without interruptions, the save house is not a loading screen it’s in the game and you have to manage your in game clock but at the reset you keep your lvl and you gradually get stronger and stronger.
@darthXreven

so long as there's no idiot screaming at you on the radio 24/7 to save the fukktard with the brown poodle then the kid on the escalator then the old guy hitting on the store mannequins then....oh you get the picture....then i'd be cool with that also so long as the day/night cycle wasn't something like 2 hours and they gave you more time to get shit done i'd be down with that.... more action adventure, less annoyance is best lol
@ZeroHxC07
@ZeroHxC07 2 жыл бұрын
@@darthXreven I kinda like the survivor mechanic. Also if the clock its not restrictive then there is no point in having it. You can just get side stuff done and goof off or lvl while you wait for the reset and then change your objective. It can trully bring that "free-form" "immersive-sim" aspect to the game if they do it correctly of course.

I fire up some late 90s/early 00s gems every once in a while. The amount of features that were either dropped over time or that are now praised as revolutionary when they were in fact standard back then is just astounding. Sequenced reloads, variable leaning, variable crouching, voice commands, squad orders, sequenced door opening! Those are things we dream of today. Maybe modern games look better, but they're not nearly a tenth as good. I'm not sure F.E.A.R.s lighting and AI has ever been beaten. And just recently, I introduced a friend to Battlefield 3 and 4. He had only ever played V and the unspeakable one, and he was amazed at the maps and the utter mayhem. Just wait until you see your first Titan!

When a game that looks as bang average as Deathloop has a 1060 as its minimum, you know they've done a piss poor port to PC. I mean, in order to get PC gamers invested in wanting to drop dolla billz on this monstrosity, you'd think they'd have done a bit more to lower the barrier to entry, something that could have been done - as HAS been done by other games that make this dogshit look like Tetris in comparison, whilst requiring much more reasonably spec'd hardware.

As savvy or as cynical as I've ever been, no part of younger me thought about games of the future and imagined what it would mean for us all should the day arrive that any game would hold you over a legal contract the size of the average script, in order to try their latest offering. I loathe moments like these for me - I kind of "the f@ck am I doing playing these games ?" moment of clarity that as events unfold has me fumbling for anything promising a buzz or drastic loss in brain cells - lest the gamer of my past awaken and see all that became of a once welcoming and fair partnership between the people that made the games and the people who paid for them. A corporate wang across the face is what you get for asking for a refund. How clearer must the signs be, this industry is going to have to crash and burn so in time it can grow back healthier and more plentiful.

What a result! Got back after a long long day and found a new Kiloton video essay in my feed. Not one to blow smoke up another’s ass as I am a disagreeable misanthrope who after an existential crisis almost 20 years ago practices extreme solipsism, although this excellent critique here is possibly proof this universe isn’t populated by me alone. But then again the fact this video of your’s arrived when it did could mean that God arranges this sort of stuff exclusively for me because I’m the I’m only person in it. The rest of you are simply NPCs. What shoots this idea is the presence of a burgeoning Woke culture threatening to destroy anything worthwhile, humane and beautiful. There would be no point to it if I am the only real soul in this Universe; unless a cruel joke!Great stuff. Really enjoyed the vid.

The Kukri was developed in the tropical jungles as a chopping instrument first and foremost. Therefore, additional weight, particularly where those holes are drilled, would significantly increase the chopping ability of a Kukri and make it more useful for it's primary purpose, chopping. You could argue the holes would be useful for reducing overall pack weight, which in a survival situation is a very important consideration. However, one would be better off with a lighter knife/machete style specifically designed for slicing and or piercing and hatchet for superior chopping, or if you want all three in a single tool, to leave the Kukri fully intact.

I mean, that's all true, but I don't know what you're really discussing. I don't think, in either instance, the weapon in question was being used much for wood chopping, so lightening it for ease of use in combat makes sense, while still leaving it capable of chopping if necessary (as opposed to a typical sword which is absolutely not very good for chopping or prying). although the one with holes closer to the blade insead of closer to the spine is weird--not where you want to introduce possible structural weaknesses. However, I think we can all agree that the actual reason holes were drilled into it was pure aesthetics, and the prop designer probably knew as much about actual melee weapons and survival tools as the average Hollywood actor knows about firearms.

I didn't know about the Denuvo anti-cheat stuff when I played this game last year, but it actually makes some sense. I can recall one instance in the game where I was on the last leg of a puzzle, but couldn't find what I needed on the map to save my life. I had already killed everyone, so there weren't any enemies to bother me as ran circles around the map. I eventually got fed up, tabbed out of the game, opened a browser and looked up the solution to the puzzle (the solution was simple, I'm just stupid), but when I tabbed back into the game and started running around the map again to finish the puzzle, there were *newly-placed land mines all over the map. I figured the game was somehow able to detect that I looked up the solution and was punishing me for it. I honestly thought it was kinda cool in the moment, and I had no idea how the game was able to do that. Denuvo would make sense though, and knowing what Denuvo is, it feels like an invasion of privacy that I did not knowingly agree to.

Well actually that episode 6 of season 4 Stargate SG-1 Window of Opportunity was an insightful look into how much someone will go to see their loved one again and the breaking point of letting go. The groundhog style was just there for comedic relief utilising O'Neill and Teal'ç brilliant onscreen chemistry to make this one of the best Stargate episodes. Haha that was fun ;)

Some novel ideas in their combination but as you said, art is transformation of others work. I guess they tried to pull a Souls-like PvP system but without the novelty factor it fell flat. Do you even get anything out of playing her? Like steal the loot out of the player you killed? Anyways, thanks for the review. Thank you as always for the insight, 21K! I'd kind of given the game (and possible Arkane) up as a bad job since the gaming media was jizzing so hard over this. It's good to know that Arkane is still Arkane. My cup is really runnething over at the moment (Pathfinder: WotR; Encased, Colony Ship) plus my backlog (Arx Fatalis, Atom RPG), but I will definitely make a note to pick this up in 6 to 12 months. :)

You are very welcome mate. I feel ya on both fronts. I had some grave concerns about this game because of the mainstream noddy press hype, and some of the woke-pointing articles. Thankfully they kept focused on the job, and turned out a better than average game. And yeah, my backlog of games is now silly. FYI just downloaded Medieval Dynasty, and New World is inc too. I might have to stop sleeping for a while lolol. As always, thank you for watching.

Before I begin my actual comment, I would like to apologize in advance for my inadequate level of English proficiency. I am not a native speaker of the world's current lingua franca which unfortunately leads to me making numerous embarrassing mistakes being made whenever I attempt to communicate using this language. Whenever I am reminded of how I lack the ability to convey my thoughts in an eloquent manner, I feel as though I have committed a cardinal sin, as though every English teacher in the world is simultaneously shaking their head and sighing due to how utterly disappointed they are at me. Although I know that saying sorry to those of you who are reading my comment will not change the fact that I fail miserably to write and speak perfect English, I am writing this as a way to deter a certain type of people who cannot stand poor English (Also known informally as Grammar Nazis) from mocking me by posting unwanted and unnecessary comments detailing my every blunder. In my humble opinion, making grammatical errors should be perfectly acceptable as native speakers should not expect non-native speakers to be able to communicate in their second or third languages eloquently. If you are able to completely understand what the other person wrote, is there really a problem with what they've written? No, because the entire concept of communication is the exchange of information between other intelligent beings, which means that no matter how the exchange of information is made, as long as the information is accurately shared there is not a fundamental issue with their ability to communicate. To see it in another way, remember that someone who isn't fluent in English is fluent in another language. When you think about it this way, isn't it impressive for someone to speak a second language in any capacity? Having empathy and respect are qualities that are sorely missing for far too many people these days, especially on the internet. That being said, I am aware that not all netizens who correct others are doing it to ridicule and shame. There are some who do so with the intent to help others improve and grow. However, displaying the failures of other people publicly will cause the person who is criticized to feel negative emotions such as shame and sadness due to the fact that their mistake has been made obvious which severely undermines the point they were trying to make in spite of their unfamiliarity with the English language. In most circumstances people are not looking for language help when they post anything online. Most people just want to enjoy themselves and have a good time on the internet which is why I would not encourage correcting other people regardless of your intentions. If you really do want to help others with their spelling or grammar, I would highly recommend you to help via messaging privately because not only will you not embarrass anyone, you can also go more in-depth with your explanation which I'm sure the other person will greatly appreciate if they want help, but I digress. I know that I've written a bit of an essay, but I hope I've made my points clear. Anyways, here is the comment I wanted to make: shid And coom,

This game doesn't look any more graphically advanced than Prey, which itself was only a moderate step up from Dishonored 2. I always figured developers were deliberately not properly optimizing their games to inflate the system requirements ever since GTA V released. If I was conspiracy minded, I might say hardware manufacturers and developers probably have an arrangement going.

Re: the point 34 minutes in, Should James Earl Jones have been prevented from voicing Vader because Anakin's a white guy? Of course not, James Earl Jones is an excellent actor. Btw, you can be 1/3rd each of eskimo, maori and latino through some careful incest and tricky definitions. Normally this sort of thing works in powers of 2, so you'll never get even thirds. However, if you define race as "what percentage of my ancestors are from place X," then all you need to do is warp the number of ancestors to a multiple of 3. Fortunately, european royalty has given us some handy reference material when it comes to the helpful applications of incest. So, logic tells us that if two half siblings procreate, their offspring have 3 grandparents instead of 4. If you're not a pedant, you can just leave it at that and spare this hypothetical world a ton of dysfunctional family dynamics and mutant babies. If you are a pedant, then one could make the argument that the resulting kid(s) would be 2/4ths of race X, 1/4th each of race Y&Z. So, if we go by drink ratio genetics, how do we achieve that mythical 1:1:1? First things first, pull a gilgamesh and make a kid that's 2/rds 1 parent, 1/3rds another by having parent 1 knock up their child so 2/3rds of parent 1's genes are represented in the grandkid. So, then take our kid that's 2/3x and 1/3Y pair them up with someone that's 2/3Z and 1/3Y. That gets us to 2/6X, 2/6Y, 2/6Z. Also a ton of genetic defects and trauma.
