Your backyard is a magical place indeed. You must have a powerful lens on your camera to get such awesome shots. They are truly amazing. Thank you for the peak into a world I never could have imagined existed.

sequin99 I haven’t seen one in the wild in over 40 years. Just this morning walking along a creek and thinking that I rounded a turn and there were three. I stood there dumbfounded as my wife took pictures. I can’t even begin to tell you the joy that seeing them this morning has brought me. They are so incredibly beautiful.

Its been about three years since we moved and left my wood duck pet behind at a friends farm lake near where we lived. As crazy as it was for us, he was as much tame as he was wild. He did his own thing hun gout with the humans most of the time even went for rides on the bass boat while i fished we dabbled. He chose to sleep on the porch with us every night. sort of like an indoor out door cat is for many folks. The sounds they make are just amazing. Very smart, very agile. Great video. Have a look at mine some time.

Culturally, wood ducks to a Chinese is like a mourning dove for American. Almost all Chinese gardens try to host a pair of wood ducks. Plus, wood ducks are the only non-mythical animal that has different Chinese name according to their gender.

So nice to find a KZfaq video on ducks which isn't about which duck call to use so you can blow them to pieces.,
@Skrillakilla5 жыл бұрын
ferociousgumby we don’t actually blow them to pieces. We do shoot them however with shot strong enough to pierce into vitals and or brain without damaging to much meat, then we either pluck or breast them out for the grill/oven.

You should place a small peg, or a platform, at the entrance. They might have an easier standing,since, they have web feet.

We have a lake on our property that is home to wood ducks and mallards. It did take us a few years to wipe out the geese, lol. Freaking hate American Geese that don't migrate. Absolutely love watching the ducks in the morning though, and just wish there was a way to control the Hawks. Saw a red tail hawk kill a male wood duck the other day. Super sad...
@wms16504 жыл бұрын
Hawks have to live too. But I know what you mean about sad to lose a wild friend.
