Suprised to see sharky having a stinker. Oblak is a keeper with amazing shot stopping who has been top 3 in the world for years and isn't particularly good with his feet because it isn't necessary for his team.

Oblak is the only keeper in the world that you can say was top five every season for the past five seasons. This season he's having a bit of a down time, like the Sociedad game, but he's a great keeper and one of the best shot stoppers we have seen in the past 30-40 years.

Why do people say players would struggle in today's game? It goes both ways. Players today are much more protected than they were 20+ years ago, tackles are much cleaner and they are given fouls for the smallest of things that would never have been given 20 years ago.

Sharky really gassed up on Ramsdale hype rn, you don't need to be unbelievable at passing to play in goal for most clubs, for example, Mendy and kepa at Chelsea are ok at distributing but aren't anything special. Scmeical could easily play in this Chelsea team in his prime.

Ligue 1 is more physical than the prem. Prem has more technical quality but Ligue 1 defenders are stronger and faster than the ones in the prem. More importantly tho, if Messi was in the prem he would be killing it since he would of been playing with city and would have freedom in the middle.

I think what people fail to take into account with Kompany is he carried that city defence with Zabaleta for nearly a decade. It was just them two that really stood out. He never had that Vidic/Ferdinand, Cambell/Adams, Carvalho/Terry partnership it was just Kompany on his own and he was always stood out as one of the best CB's in the Prem his entire career.

Howlers in this vid. Dismissing Keane’s technical ability when those who know ball know he was close to Scholes in terms of passing, saying Yaya couldn’t handle Vieira when he kept a clean sheet while playing CB in a UCL final against one of the best Prem sides of all time, saying Schmeichel wouldn’t survive in today’s game when Navas won a UCL 3-peat despite being extremely dodgy with the ball at his feet…

Depends. I would say if it's only for what he's done at City, then yeah, but if we are adding in his multiple years at Spurs, then Kyle walker for that one decade put in higher performances than Neville did for that one and a half decade, so it depends on whether you want to go for the guy who played at a slightly higher level or the guy who did it for longer.

I'm an Arsenal fan from the 90's and I have to say, Sharky you've had an absolute shocker on the Schmeichel vs Ramsdale argument. I love Ramsdale and yes he's a better distributer than Schmeichel was, but Schmeichel is probabaly the best keeper in Premier League history and that included his shot stopping, commanding of his box, leadership, reflexes and pure winning mentality. Schmeichel wouldn't struggle in the current game, he just wouldn't play for a team that plays out from the back so much.

or he would playing out from the back is learnt behaviour it’s not like schmeichel is incapable of kicking a ball he would of learnt how to improve his distribution it just didn’t matter back then

Teams generally are pretty good...but to pick Kompany over Vidic is the travesty. Kompany was great but has been glamourised over time for being the captain & leader and Vidic has been forgotten over time, reality is if this conversation was anytime these were playing together you'd be laughed at for trying to pick Kompany. But the passing of time leads to crazy re-evaluations.

Yeah Kompanys leadership skills really get o dr hyped to the point where his defensively frailties get overlooked. Man was such a clumsy defender at times but people rarely talk about it
