How do you think FOX's TV deal with IndyCar will affect the schedule for the NASCAR Cup Series? Will most cup races stay on FS1 or will they try to have IndyCar races lead in to cup races on big FOX? I hope for the latter.

SVG must move to CUP , and drive as many Xfinity oval races as possible, SVG should be currently driving as many truck series ovals as possible

Why should SVG drive a completely alien car compared to the cup series car? He needs time in a more closely relative car to the cup car. A truck is not it. He's also full time xfinity so WHY trucks?

SVG needs to be in a Cup car asap. The Cup car is much closer to a Supercar than the Xfinity car is. Running in the Xfinity car is slowing him down. Every American is under estimating his ability to pick things up. Don't be surprised to see him win on an oval in the near future. Just remember how many seasoned oval racers are finishing behind him in every oval race.

18:53 not trying to knock brennan here but…. Im not sure he’s qualified enough to say who’s ready to compete at cup level when he doesn’t compete at cup level. SVG needs oval help sure, but he needs more seat time and he’s showed the cup car is more suitable to him and what he’s accustomed to driving.

Just bc he isn’t top tier talent doesn’t mean he can’t evaluate someone properly. He drives every week in X, that’s better than most. I’ve been coaching sports for yrs. I just love when parents try and tell me I’m not a good coach and their kids the best bc he played travel 😂😂 after 4 championships taking over a team that didn’t win for 3 yrs. I never played college or pro, but I know talent and how to put the formula together. Don’t underestimate ppls ability until you have given it a shot. BP knows where his talent ceiling is. Humble is good

SVG critics need to stop looking at results sheets on ovals to make evaluations and consider what he faces each week. He arrives at every oval to places he has never seen before and receives only a 20 minutes practice session. As a result he typically doesn’t qualify very well. He then progressively moves forward particularly in Stage 3. In the process he passes people like Brennan who have been doing this for years. The Kaulig machinery isn’t as good as JGR, JR and RCR. 50% of people love SVG the other half know he’s good and have their knickers in a knot.

Why hold him back for more experience on ovals when he can be in Cup winning on road courses and gaining that same experience on ovals? Silly argument.. this guy is a talent. He needs to be in cup asap!

@@NowinLao and the next road coarse he didn’t even finish in the top ten and he won’t even be competitive on ovals at all in the cup series and he’s already 35 just someone who is going be wasting a seat in the cup series from a younger more rounded driver

⁠@@garyk76please don’t try to make sense to some of these people. To them this guy is the greatest driver that ever walked the earth. They make a huge deal about a multi time road course champion beating a bunch of oval track guys on a road course. What they can’t seem to get through their heads is that NASCAR is an oval track series and until he masters those tracks he’s just another road racer trying to steal a win on a road course. Instead of worrying about going full time in cup he should first lean how to actually race another driver on ovals. You can’t always count on half of the cars who start in front of you wrecking or running out of gas enabling you to get a good finish. Sooner or later he’s going to have to actually pass someone. SVG absolutely belongs in the truck series just for the seat time on ovals. There is no way if I were an owner in the cup series I would be putting him or anyone else in my car on an oval with what amounts to basically no experience. But hey if he can bring in the sponsors he’ll get a ride, that’s what it boils down to today, unfortunately.

I've said it this way ever since SVG got a few races in this year: He has lots to go with oval race craft, but his racing maturity - patience, not putting car in a bad spot, etc. - is on display. Most of his good finishes at ovals is because he keep the car clean and benefitted from other people's chaos. He'll learn ovals eventually, and I hope that is soon because I really like the guy, but if he keeps doing what he is doing, he'll be a regular contender.

Giving Shane another year xFinity is a waste of time. The Gen7 is NOTHING like the xFinity car, which is technically still a damn COT. He's used to the Gen7-ish car, so he should be getting the feel for it on the ovals as soon as possible, not wasting time in the 2nd tier of stock car racing. This year was propably meant to be a time to get used to the culture and some of the tracks, a small stepping stone for him on the path to Cup

We've spent so much time up here being treated as "false fans" or people that want to see NASCAR disbanded that it's great to finally have something up here. Just cause LA didn't work out doesn't mean that everything West of the Mississippi is a complete and total waste of time.

Guys, SVG isn't adjusting to the aggression of Nascar. He's given himself permission to be his aggressive self. I think most Kiwis and Aussies will agree that Shane was the most aggressive driver in Supercars. He even took out his team mate, Jamie Whincup who is the team owner countless times. He started in Nascar being the polite new guy. Now you are starting to see the real Shane. I just hope he doesn't get too aggressive and take himself and other cars out on ovals.

@scottmiller5094 Yep, I know.. But that doesn't mean he's suddenly become aggressive. It means that he didn't realise what he would be allowed to get away with. For two reasons, these cars take more of a beating than Supercars and the rules of engagement are different.

I mistakenly took for granted that TrackHouse would be running SVG is as many Cup ovals this year as possible while still maintaining his ROY status for ‘25. Maybe it’s sponsorship holding that up? Hopefully not.

He has already. He had a good run at Talladega until KB and he 54 killed the top lane. He was also running well at Charlotte but his position was impacted by pit lane penalties and rain…If you don’t believe me watch his onboards.

AJ, Noah, Ty Gibbs, and others dominate xfinity and then run 20th in cup their first year. Zane smith was dominating trucks and then went to run 34th every week. I really like SVG but idk how a cup run would go. It may be terrible. We will see how he improves the rest of the year

SVG will have less trouble adapting to the Cup car on ovals then the XFinity car because it behaves the way he expects it to. He’s already said that he finds it easier. I can’t believe people are doubting him when he’s had multiple top tens and top 15s after only 14 races on ovals.

With Michael Micdowell leaving FRM for spire at the no.71 at the end of the year. Where do you think that leaves Zane smith? The only possibilities I could see happening. Is either he goes back down to the truck series. Or maybe he ends up going to track house if nascar doesn’t put a limit on the charter agreement.

Regarding rule changes, I think overtime is generally unfair from a competitive standpoint. Too many situations where the leader gets screwed by a caution with a few laps to go. My solution is just making overtime restarts single file. This provides a finish under green while still giving the leader a deserved advantage.

I have to disagree with you on Shane not being ready for Cup. Firstly he's in a team that is under performing this year in Xfinity, and still winning. He's brand new to oval racing and is often out performing his own team mates. Shane has openly discussed that he is struggling to understand how the car works and needs to be tuned. After Portland he insisted on some car changes that made the car better. In supercars he was very dialled in to his cars and anything that wasn't right he noticed. He will only get quicker once the car is setup to his liking. In Cup this will be less of an issue as we know the car is closer to what he's used to.
