In this Realistic Girl portrait in acrylic I am focusing on soft blending technique with acrylic color on paper. Blending is usually difficult with acrylics. But in this video I have elaborated my techniques of blending and shading using acrylic with water as the only medium. I am using no retarder for this painting process.
I have started this painting with Crimson Lake, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna and Ultramarine Blue to apply the first coat on the face. Acrylic paint usually dries very fast. To overcome this challenge I am using fine mist of water to keep the paint moist longer. I have applied many thin layers to achieve the desired effect of the skin tone. Most of the blending is done with dry brush technique with minimal water on the palette.

Hi. Thanks again for posting your videos showing techniques for painting skin. I tackled a portrait of my three year old daughter today, following your tips, and am thrilled with the results! Burnt sienna, yellow ochre, ultramarine blue and crimson were used throughout. The end result is so realistic! Who would’ve known we had all those undertones? Very appreciative. 👌🏻

How do you make the sketches for the paintings? Is it a hand sketch or digitally made?

I have a dedicated video on how to transfer sketch on canvas. You can view it in my channel. I sometimes do directly, sometimes grid, sometimes use carbon transfer. You can try any method you want, afterall the end result matters. Thank you so much for watching 😊

How do u get such soft edges

I mostly use white bristle brush for blending. Use soft edges brushes for smoothly merge the edges. Thanks for watching 🙏😊

No, I am not using any gesso here. The paper is 300 gsm Watercolor paper. Thank you 😊

Great portrait. But I see you are using water color paper for acrylic. Why not use proper acrylic paper? Just curious about your choice.

Watercolor paper are much cheaper alternative to Acrylic papers or even canvas. Moreover I loved the texture of it. You can try it. Thank you so much for your appreciation 🙏😊

@@DebojyotiBoruahArt It would be highly expensive if you use 100% cotton watercolor paper. I think is part cotton and part cellulose, that's why it is so cheap. But I like the way you experiment with canvas pads and papers for your art.

@@siddharthpanchal718 Yes you are right. Those are not 100% cotton. And for practice it's a nice choice. For acrylic you don't need that the exclusive quality of an watercolor paper. Just 250 gsm is enough sufficient. You may try. It's works well. Thank you

Buen trabajo pero no terminas de explicar los detalles o al menos no se te ven pintando en el cuadro y es el plus que da a la obra aún así le as conseguido dar profundidad y eso a acrilico cuesta bastante
