In this video, Pat hangs the salt panniers on Chinaco, gives all sorts of important information about what he's doing and why, and then ponies Chinaco off of the yellow horse. We also flew the drone again. Unfortunately we had some battery issues and pilot error but you still get to see just how dry it is here, some exhilarating views, and a brief clip of Pat, the yellow horse, and Chinaco, returning from their ride. I hope you enjoy it! For more information, visit our website www.thedisciplinedride.com . Please take a moment to hit the Like button, Subscribe to our Channel, and Share with your friends. At the beginning of this year I went back and watched most of your older videos. What has surprised me the most is that Deb has done a great job of improving the quality of the presentation at such a rapid pace. If the information being given is intolerable to watch it becomes almost useless. Because of the great work Deb has done, these are some of the most informative horse videos on youtube. So thank you to both of you!

Fantastic aerial drone pix. You two are awesome!!! I have had three abandoned/rescued Basenji x Rat Terrier crosses for three years. I have done a lot of work cleaning out their mental cobwebs and training to eliminate spooks in all three. The work was worth it and this spring will be the first time for all three to have finally matured enough to retain their training. Pat is exactly correct it takes as long as it takes. But it is so worth it!!! Many folks have told me that I was mad to undertake such a goal with three absolutely wild and out of control canines, but I felt the potential that each one could bring to our abode. I made a plan and stuck with it; modifying as we went along. We enlisted the aid of other professional trainers when needed as we went along. Each animal is different and came with different personalities, and strengths. Along the way they have ALL EARNED AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Certifications and Titles!!! The result makes me very humble and happy!!! 😁😊 Thanks for such a wonderful show!!! Terry Isaac Racine, WI

Everything you teach makes so much sense, like girthing differently for different jobs. I have never used a back cinch because what I have observed here is that the back cinch hangs a bit loose and the hobble between the front and back cinch is even more loose than that. Just didnt seem safe to me at all. Thanks for the education. So many horses would have an easier life if someone had just taken the time. It is great watching Chinaco's developement. I loved the video of Pat riding out on the trail. Kind of puts things in life into perspective.

Thank You for the drone footage, it explains a great deal about the area where you live. I respect how you have adapted the facilities to the topography of the area. No shortage of hills to muscle a horse up and teach them to balance themselves and the load, such a variety.

Could you do a video on your mules? I recently started working with them for a new job and don't have much experience with them. I've been around horses my whole life but these mules seem pretty different as far as temperament and thought process. Your videos have been a great help with working on my horses. Many thanks.

No. We can’t do a video on mules. We only own the one and she’s already broke. Pat doesn’t feel qualified to give you his opinion on them because of his lack of experience on that subject.

Please can you describe the grazing practices that can reduce cheatgrass and favor the growth of perennials, in arid California, or point me in the direction to look for myself for better understanding? All I've ever encountered for that is intensive management, really concentrated and keeping a close eye to move them at the right time. Is that what you mean? Very grateful to you for sharing your knowledge. Aromas, CA

I agree with you that a clamped down tail usually is an indication that a horse is bothered. My current horse clamps his tail when he works cattle, a job he loves and is getting very good at. Seems like the more I leave him alone, stay out of his way and trust him, the more he seems to do that. What's your take on that?

question: does a horse enjoy training, and take pride in its performance of what it has been trained to do? like a dog enjoys training , pleasing the trainer, taking pride in it's ability to respond to command . Borders, Aussies, etc. love this "challenge". in the mind of a really good horse, well suited to the training, is there any sense of accomplishment, or pride in performance? Is there any recognition of the trainer and trainee? that power structure? recognition in the horse mind that the horse is truly skilled at cows? maybe a racehorse is the best example i can think of where the animal lives for the bell, is trained for the bell.
