Landscape designer/contractor Steve McDearmon of Garden Rhythms (Southern CA) uses dramatic succulents with swaths of rock. See more of Steve's gardens in the completely revised and updated second edition of Designing with Succulents. Rocks are: Mojave Gold gravel, Hickory Creek rubble rock, and Honey Quartz boulders (all from Southwest Boulder and Stone).

Have a question on ANYTHING to do with succulents? Go to debraleebaldwin.com and browse the menu or use the Search bar. Btw, my site is not monetized---no annoying pop-up ads. It's my gift to my followers and the culmination of my career as a horticulturist/photojournalist specializing in succulents. You'll find 100+ pages of tips and ideas; thousands of photos and must-know facts for specific varieties; curated design ideas for gardens, landscapes and containers; interviews with experts; seasonal info; and much more. Use the site as a research tool that also is entertaining---the same goal as my KZfaq channel. Q's welcome!

The colors of the rocks are so soothing and blend with each other so well.

I agree! And they blend with the surrounding hills and granite boulders.

I just think it’s so sweet and so cool that you make the effort to speak Spanish to the landscaper. ❤❤❤

Thank you! I love the Spanish language, but I don't speak it nearly as well as I'd like to. Nevertheless I occasionally impose on native speakers to indulge me.

Yes, very sweet way to say si es basura es mi basura. To be honest that sounded a bit pretentious and rude.

@@tomasdiaz4892 help me understand why it’s rude? To speak to someone in their native language? Most Americans don’t attempt to do this. Just trying to understand

@@Brittloren00 I’m not saying is rude to speak on another language, in fact it is a very nice gesture, but it is rude the way she suggested to that man that those shoots are hers, just assuming that he is going to take them with him. Just 5 miserable shoots.

Great idea, Justin! I'll plan on doing a follow-up. Some of those plants, like the blue ceroids and the tree aloe (both situated against white walls), are going to be amazing!

Love it! Especially like the more subtle rock work.. Adds nice interest, but doesn't distract from the plants. Looking forward to more of these videos, Debra
