I asked for Dave’s advise but to me it didn’t make sense. I can get a VA loan and buy a house with payments of $800 a month with zero down. Currently I pay $1550 a month in rent. His advisor said Dave is not a fan of VA loans so to buy a house I need 20% down on a 15 year mortgage. So it’s better to stay paying $1550 a month for quite a while or forever than to pay $800 a month for 30 years and gain equity in a house. I can also pay more than $800 a month and get the house paid off faster. I’m not following Dave’s advise on this issue.

How can anyone be irresponsible enough with money to end up almost six figures in credit card debt. Jesus that's depressing.
@Tiff-vi9kx
@Tiff-vi9kx 4 жыл бұрын
For some people that’s worth the expense because it’s included in the payment schedule. Also, they negotiate much better deals than you could ever do yourself. For example some companies require you to put a deposit of hundreds, and then pay hundreds. Versus the legit companies can negotiate a much smaller monthly payment and you can keep more of your income every month to focus on rebuilding your credit and savings.

Can we get a little more information fromt the callers when they have 90k in revolving debt? Was it temporary job loss? Did they consolidate other fixed debt into revolving debt? Did they impulse buy? or living costs? Living beyond means and above income? I think everyone who watches these types of shows are curious as to how the problem accumulated over time, not just the methods and approaches to killing the debt. You know what's even better than knowing how to become debt free? -- Knowing and teaching others how not to become debt burdened in the first place.

I suppose it would be better to say: Don’t spend someone else’s money, ever.
@markyouneva7840
@markyouneva7840 4 жыл бұрын
@@jeremiahmeade710 Our entire economy from the 19th century to present day has been based on "spending other peoples (investor) money." We have a capitalist society (capital!). If borrowing money wasn't a thing, we'd be lightyears behind where we are today. People borrow to invest in business, in research, or to invest in themselves by getting an education. To wait to save the vast amount of capital needed to finance ertain things would be impractical. All debt is not equal. Paying for something with some else's money which they get interest on isn't always bad. Financial trouble arises from spending other people's money on unnecessary things, things of depreciating value, and material things that add no real value to one's life. Compounding the problem would be poorly managing one's credit and having to financing this lifestyle at very high interest rates, which is the case for many of the callers. They buy things they dont need at high payments (and corresponding high APR's). "Don't spend money you don't have and don't spend someone else's money" are overly simplistic. If you've never borrowed a dime in your life, that's great for you but life for most people doesn't work that way.

My comeback was it was that or I was going to dump it into bankruptcy . To my surprise he excepted the $10 a month , I paid a few months and they offered me a payout for half which I couldn’t afford anyway , A few months later they offered it for a quarter which I took the Deal and settled the debt .

The guys credit will be shot for years if he pays off the debt but will go up in 6 months if he files now. After filing, get a couple of secured cards and immediately start using them wisely and in 6 months to a year this guy will have a 700+ credit score and lots of cash. Although debt settlement can be an effective method for tackling overwhelming debt, it's important to recognize that it is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Each individual's or business's financial situation is unique. Therefore, it is essential to seek advice from financial professionals before deciding on debt settlement. Some situations might be better suited for other debt relief strategies, such as debt consolidation or credit counseling.

Ramsey math in full effect after the 6:30 mark, first its 25 cents on the dollar (25%), then he says $2K on the $6K debt which is 33%. Then Dave says "you get the to 30 cents on the dollar, 20 cents on the dollar". Gee Dave, if he offers 33% on his first offer, how i he ever going to get them lower? I'm waiting for the DR video where all the math actually works!

Used to work for a debt settlement program. The system we used was garbage and the company itself was kinda shady. Haha, almost everyone in the company looked depressed, except the supervisors and managers. I'd say at least half or most of the supervisors were not qualified for the position, but only got there by kissing up to the managers and hanging out with them outside work. Most of the supervisors didn't want to do their jobs either, they'd usually walk around the office goofing off away from their station and avoid calls that required a supervisor.

I signed up for one of these debt settlement companies because I thought it was the fastest way to get out of debt. I was wrong, my credit stinks, and I probably could have saved money just by paying off the debt myself. Lucky for me, the debt relief company I am working with has actually settled the debts I brought into the program - and I do think my credit can be rebuilt. But, ugh, never ever ever again.

*Can someone answer a question for me?* I have some medical debt. I get calls from a debt collector, but they say they work on behalf of the hosptial, to help them collect debt. Does this mean the debt was not sold to a 3rd party company for 5 cents on the dollar like credit card debt for example? This company has had the debt for maybe a year. Still when I offer them lump sums, even 50 cents on the dollar, they say the hospital hasn't approved the account for any discounts. How does this work? I can't settle with these people!
