Thank you Dave for shining a ray of hope for those of us who were CT. On psych drugs which included multiple benzos for 26 years. CT 7 months ago. Honestly can't believe I have made it through this damn far. Hoping I can help this community when I'm a little further down the healing pike. Wish I could give you a huge hug. Thank you. Love you, brother.

Great video. Had this feeling right away on the various forums. It's the same people commenting day in day out. When I did leave a comment it was so hard to do without providing a page worth of context. How did it all start for me, how many times did I start and stop medications, was I poly drugged, did I use any recreational drugs, my age, dosage, time, general health, and, and, and. There are hundreds of factors at play here. Psychiatric drugs are way over prescribed, and sometimes a little patience goes a long way but there are instances when it's all hands on deck and when they work SSRI's WORK. I guess little information is bad but too much information is even worse.

Thank you for this video, wish i had heard it sooner, i was on X for 3 years for sleep and was in tolerance withdrawal and inderdoes withdrawal bc there was no daytime dose, i decided to CT off of it since i was already not feeling well, and then got on the fourms and groups and they freaked me out so bad it put me in terror and amp up my symptoms, I made it 75 days and freaked myself out so bad i reinstated on Kolatipin 10 days ago, i know i would have been so much further ahead had i stayed off the groups and horror stories, i was scared to eat foods or take any supplements etc these groups can be so damaging and fear mongering, thank you for this video its fantastic! I will get off these stupid benzos and heal one day.

My mother was on 1 mg of Alprazolam for 32 years, she stopped cold turkey and never had one symptom. She had never heard of withdrawal before nobody put it in her head and she said what is withdrawal, well she asked, and I was like oh nothing never mind. So yeah I think the fear-mongering and the sudden benzo Holocaust came out of nowhere because nobody was coming out this way in the 90s and early 2000s it just started like pretty much during covid or some years before that

Amen. id argue that people severely underestimate what anxiety alone can do. Also regarding the benzos and their withdrawal while nasty, how on Earth have we concluded about the "benzos are the cause of pws with 100% certainty? After reading all kinds of stories the answer is pretty clear by now. As time passes by the benzos play much less or a role and anxiety is the main culprit. Isnt it something like 90+% of benzo users started benzos due to an anxiety related problem? Isnt it that we see a rare 10% of people almost not struggle at all coming off (those were the people without a pre existing anxiety induced condition?) The question is whats the "safely assumed" timeframe that we can assume now that anxiety has surpassed the benzos effects in regards to symptoms. But unfortunately people do not run studies with anxiety in mind in a measurable manner. Even the BIND theory and studies (which ive read) do not track anxiety and correlate it with recovery progress. As you say coach, not denying the chemical stuff but people severely underestimate what anxiety can do by itself. Thank you for the video. It was Godsent!

@JoeySkate24

@@kerrijodierberger and so what? Youre in the vast minority. Also nobody said that benzos do nothing at all themselves. Thats clearly not true. Plus it takes amazing anti anxiety coping skills to come off and stay off. If you take a regular person and have them go through 10 panic attacks they will most likely worry themselves into an anxiety condition. Many people who had nothing and went on them for pain later on (after coming off) filled the criteria for anxiety disorders, long after the drug has been off.

In point: A person who was on a low dose of V for 3 weeks with a 4 week taper having “anxiety symptoms” 3 and 1/2 years off seems suspect to me. Her functional medicine doc prescribed some herbs and meditations, so she’ll be okay now. It’s these sort of posts that make my head explode because others were supporting her beliefs that it was still the meds! I’ll just take an herb and calm down. It would be funny if it wasn’t harming people by scaring them into these beliefs. Shame.
@JoeySkate24
@JoeySkate24 27 күн бұрын
@@TE-7302- nope. it really shouldnt. if you take a normal person and frighten them for like a good 5-6 hours (terror them). they will have symptoms for a few days due to the acute stress including panic attacks dp/dr and so on. if the person then reacts with more fear to those symptoms then they will continue the cycle. and boom, there you go. benzos have some good acute hyperarousal symptoms going in acute withdrawal. if the person then on top of that gets worried and frightened over them they will NOT heal. its like having a broken leg that you continue to hit with a baseball bat instead of putting a cast. if they practice acceptance, cbt, calming down, mindfulness and so on they WILL heal. You can find that info in Ashtons manual, in what the coach here says, in every single source that states how cbt and mindfulness helps recovery, all the coaches share the same tools to heal and so on. why? cause it makes sense thats why. you can easily go from a healthy individual to a panic disorder case if you dont respond calmly to the panic attacks from the benzo withdrawal. no need to be baffled at all tbh it makes total sense, just go check people who never touched benzos and have anxiety disorders and ptsd ocd. look what they are facing, never touched a med in their lives. the recoveries are almost identical. windows and waves and symptoms dicipate largely in 1-2 years but that assumes IF and ONLY IF they do their recovery work and reduce their stress factors (which include fearing symptoms instead of accepting them, their stress/anxiety inducing behaviors, traumas that give birth to belief systems that feed into maladaptive behaviors which cause stress, and so on and so forth)

Sleep doctor had me on ambien and Xanax for seep issues which started a year and a half ago. I was able to stop the ambien after 4 months but still take .25 to .50 Xanax only at bedtime. My sleep has improved since last year but I still have sleepless nights once or twice a week. What is a good taper schedule I can use to get off this stuff? I refuse to take a higher dose and make things more difficult.

You can cancel anytime. Most of my students are not just tapering benzos and learning to manage symptoms and facilitate recovery, but they're also people learning to manage things like health anxiety, agoraphobia, sleep, panic disorder, and somatic symptoms disorder, to name a few.

You first need to get that sleep under control. I recommend checking out my friend Coach Daniel's videos. He's a sleep coach. You might be surprised at how much you can do to help your sleep during withdrawal once you fully understand the nature of it, which isn't all chemical withdrawal. Next, I'd recommend you check out my online benzo recovery school. It's only $30, but I have a full recovery module that can help answer all of your questions and guide you through intelligently. Otherwise, my videos here are packed with advice, and I offer one-on-one coaching. Keep your head up! You'll get through this!

Hey coach, many say CBT doesn’t work either. I found that “maybe” it depends on the coach or therapist? Trying to not be facetious but I would question the therapist authority (I think I know the name), by asking if they are successful as therapist!!!
@freddumee
@freddumee 6 ай бұрын
It is not therapy, it is biology. Your receptors must restore.
@chaimbochner7474
@chaimbochner7474 6 ай бұрын
@@freddumee I agree to this too but I found (maybe I’m the exception), that therapy assists even while receptors need to be healed. Also, there are many things that “just getting off”, won’t necessarily solve. If a person that has pre existing panic and anxiety, they might be disappointed if things don’t work out when fully tapered. Many people ended up in benzos for reasons other than long standing anxiety, which a complete safe tapered might be the only therapy needed. There’s also what David says: even if you’re psychologically strong and confident, there are many physiological factors that come to play, where specific hard work needs to be done; either by pushing or lulling (learning to relax, meditate, etc…). This is due to a the amygdala or hypothalamus and other areas that become sensitive and hyperactive. The his might not be helped with either tapering off or psychological assistance, other than using specific training to calm the system. Many times, people express bind or paws in a way that points to overactive brain and/or elevated cortisol, which can work together to wreak havoc in the system. It takes exposure therapy, mindfulness, limbic system training, and more. I hope people heal quickly and without so much suffering but sometimes WAITING for those receptors, is not the best way to go. David and many others have fought this and got through it, living a decent and acceptable lifestyle. It might not be perfect, but we should really define perfect anyway!
