You mentioning about the quality of early Chinese imports to the UK reminded me of the Jialing models of 30-ish years ago. Rough was not the word for them, in some instances it looked like the moulding 'flash' remaining on the cylinder barrels had been removed via a hammer, frightful quality control.

What would you suggest for a 200-250cc bike that could go on a round the world trip? Something adventure style that would take luggage? Most bikes in South America are small Chinese bikes and I’d stand a better chance of sourcing spare parts if I were on a China bike.

Some of the more modern china bikes are better than they were, but they still have a ways to go yet. My bro bought a zontes mantis 125 new, and I was suprised by how much better the frame welds were and to be fair the engine was a good little runner. But the plastics were still fragile and would crack very easy, and the fuel injectors were terrible and that left him stranded on the side of the road on several occasions. This bike also made every warranty service. when got the bike back he was told the injectors were sorted and she was running fine - on the way home, she packed in again. This happened more than once. My bro had no problems for the first 2000 miles, but after that she continuously broke down and always due to the throttle body, sensors and fuel injectors. The bike was returned to the manufacturer for a full refund. Like I said though they are getting better, and the rest of the bike held up very well - frame, shocks, forks engine, tyres, wheels all held up.

I'm looking at buying a Benda LFC700 cruiser when they become available in the UK, the estimated price is around £6.5k on the road. The engine is an inline four cylinder of 680cc, it is based on a Honda CBR650. The Benda's motor produced 97.2 hp and 72 N/m of torque, the rear tyre is a huge 310 mm wide. Top speed is around 125 mph / 200 kph.

I have owned 5 motorcycles. Two were Japanese and three were built with Chinese parts. Except for the size (the two Japanese were 450 and 1000 cc and the ones with Chinese parts (2 150cc and 1 250cc)) they have been about the same. The only parts I had to replace on my last two "China" bikes was wheel bearings. Each of those bikes I owned for more than two years.

What not mentioned is the Chinese supply products based on the requirements and price of the buyer wholesale. If the buyer would say selling it 1k USD then they will buy parts to meet the price, but if the buyer would sell at 10k USD they will match the quality of the parts thus getting German or Japanese parts.

"The Chinese have a tendency of not tightening their bolts properly or using loctite." This is something I've heard before and is quite disconcerting. There will always be flaws in any motorcycle brand, particularly if they try a new design. However, securing bolts properly is something really basic. This is something I've never come across when buying a Japanese brand.

This is a issue what is suppost to be sorted when you do the pdi check

In my experience Chinese factories over tighten everything. A good pdi should involve removing bolts for certain components like footrests and chassis components, and re tightening at a reasonable torque with loctite 222 low strength threadlock. I've covered a lot of miles on Chinese bikes and never failed to complete a journey, including some journeys of several hundred miles

I enjoyed this video, it’s one thing if you have money as a motorcyclist, I’d happily ride a Ducati or a Harley D but the fact is that most of are on a budget, these chinese bikes are NOT that bad, if you’re prepared to throw a couple bucks at it to upgrade some stuff, mainly suspension, honestly I’ve been surprised by brake quality and really like that you can get a bike that is both NEW and has EFI for around $2000, it really makes the market reasonable for young riders

I have no beef with chinese bikes ,the way I see it is you get what you pay for . .ive had 2, an Xsport 200cc and a Wuyang 125cc ,both had more than there share of problems right from the outset but that was quite a few years ago . I am now concidering buying a lexmoto 50cc Hunter or simular .Maybe I'll be third time lucky . where I do disagree, is that just because any consumer item that comes out of the same factory as another one ,dosnt mean that there both built to the same standard ,as any one thats worked in a factory of any sort will tell you . Each product it made with the purchase price as the main contrabutary factor , motorcycles included.. Thanks , great channel, ride safe ;-)

I would say you right to a sertain portion of that simetimes it is down to price and yes quality is different somewhat but the fact that the engineers working on the bikes make both will help the quality and lets take sandwitches for instance i used to work in a factory that made them when we projuced them you would make products for marks and spencers aeroplanes and petrol stations and hospitals the price difference for all of these was about £5 sometime but they were all the same just different label's

Its not where they're made that's really the issue for me, it comes down to the quality of the parts. When a bike retails for £4k not £2k there is a brand mark up, but you'd also expect better quality parts and engineering. That said I'm tempted by a Lemoto LXR, or Hyosung GT125R :)

Just stumbled upon this as a recommended watch. Great info. Yeah the Chinese have definitely improved. Not sure how they will fair to British winters but hey, neither do the Japanese if not looked after. Triumph was the biggest con cause majority of bikes haven't been made in Hinckley for years with the much coveted Bonneville made in Thailand. I rie royal Enfield and dispute the quality to be no worse or better than any offerings 👍

its not unheard off, people here buy them and they use them up to 100k then sell them and buy a new one if they dont want to do repairs it costs less than having a BMW and using it up to 300k

If you have to tighten bolts when you have just brought a brand new bike then i sorry but thats shit. Would you buy a new car n have to tighten the wheel bolts? If you brought a new oven wood you have to check its wired correctly or a fridge or a microwave? Absolutely ridiculous! Chinese bike are shit. Yes there getting better but they are still shit. That is what the first service is for to check nuts and bolts small capacity bikes vibrate so better safe to check than not to plus most bikes are made in chine india and south america not japan ( ps any name calling to me or anyone else on my channel will resolt in you being perminantly band from all of my content that sort of behaviour will not be tolerated)

We need bigger engines in the cruisers, the chines bikes are alot better looking and they do really great cruisers. In my eyes anyway. I'd love to get my hands on one of the Benda eagle 400cc they are stunning so is the eagle 125. As a country we need to get better at getting these better looking bikes. Over here.

you guys have no clue about motorcycle manufacturing or production. there are a lot of new bikes which are strictly made in japan. there's a reason why china still makes bikes with 90's tech because thats all technology transfer they get for being china.
