Who are we:
Scandinavians Arne Nerjordet and Carlos Zachrison are highly regarded designers, textile artists and authors. They are best known for their craft books and their original, colourful and visually striking designs. Their work is highly influenced by their Scandinavian background and their everyday life in rural Norway. They work under their artist name ARNE & CARLOS, which they established in 2002.

We're fortunate in Minnesota to have a lot of people teaching Rosemaling, Dalmalning and other Scandinavian decorative arts. I think that I was drawn to your design aesthetic because of my previous painting experience. I learned to knit on dpn's just so I could take your classes 2 years ago and now I'm caught up on this Advent Calendar project. Thanks for providing a respite from the stresses we've been facing.

I look forward to seeing you every day. I admit that I have given up on the Christmas balls for now because I have been having a very difficult time with them. I will pick them up again at another time. For the time being I will continue to work on my knitting and crocheting in order to perfect this art. I look at everybody else's work and I am in awe. How funny. I just read a book of Lars Mytting:" die Glocke im See". This is the German title. And the story takes place in Gulbrandsdal. Nice to hear that this is Arne's home valley. All the swirls on this ball is so stylish and happy. My beginning knitting continues. I knit my very first solid balls last weekend. I plucked up the courage and am happily half way through the December 4 Christmas Chain Ball and loving the color work experience. Thank you for your inspiration and videos. Tired of you? Never enough! I will really miss these daily visits. I really love swirls and curls. I tend to choose things in my life that are more rounded than boxy. I would choose rounded edges on everything if I could. I'm very happy with the chandelier in my new condo because it has swirls and curls. If I could have chosen it myself I would have. I once again love today's ball. It's really snowing here, and we are supposed to get ice on top of it. This will make it difficult to get to my surgery tomorrow. The hospital is one hour away without the snow and ice, so we are going to allow 2 hours to get there in the morning. I just pray that they keep the roads clear. Hugs from Virginia.

Lieve jongens, I am from the Netherlands but i live in Germany. In the Netherlands there are many old small harbor towns around the IJsselmeer. These villages used to be situated on the open sea. Because the Dutch, like the Norwegians, sail all over the world, they also have beautiful folkloric paintings and fabrics. The paintings of the farms in Norway reminded me of those of Hindelopen. Unfortunately I cannot add a photo but google: hindelooper paintings or in dutch: hindelooper schilderingen. Unfortunately, I don't have time for knitting at the moment, but I close every day with your Christmas bauble show. But I'm definitely going to knit them, I have all the previous ones too, they are now hanging too. I want to thank you for the relaxation you give me every day. Big kiss and hug, Erna.

Today's episode brought me down memory lane to the 2 summer holidays I spent in Door County, Wisconsin working for Pipka, a well-regarded Christmas artist who painted her original items on wood using many Rosemaling techniques & colors. The region has several talented artisans who paint beautiful Rosemaling pieces. And, I'm sure you know that there are several Scandinavian knitting enthusiasts over there as well.

I'm enjoying your daily podcasts. I especially loved hearing your story today of how you supported the community in Peru 10 years ago by employing them to knit Christmas balls/teaching them skills-such wonderful acts of kindness for the global community!
