I have the exact same saddle on my road bike, and like it so much I'm going to buy another for my city commuter. I obviously ride the road bike with cushioned bibs, but I did a century on it before I got bibs, and my butt survived, so it should be perfectly fine for commuting.

It's a nice bike, but with that lock it's a matter of time before it's gone. The Axa Defender frame lock works well as a secondary lock, but as a main lock it has two flaws: First, there's a 'blanc' key available which they can ram into it with a hammer, and then just break it open in one slam. Second: The plug-in chain is just way too thin. I see people parking their expensive (E-)bike all the time using just this Axa Defender with plug-in chain, so apparently people think it's enough, but trust me it just isn't. For this bike, in Amsterdam, I would get an Abus Citychain Xplus 1060 or similar Art 3 lock. For at home (as a stationary lock that you don't carry) I would seriously consider chaining it with motorcycle lock (Art 4 or 5). As most people I also hate unasked for advice, so I completely understand if you just find my reply annoying and disregard it. It's just my two cents.

No worries, I appreciate the perspective. I have insurance for the bike as well...
@dicknr1
@dicknr1 Жыл бұрын
@@Kerleem Most dutch dont do insurance for bikes. But most people here buy them 2nd use, or something affordable as it will degrade faster as we use it daily so quality/cost is what most dutch look for. Your bike looks good tho. double locks do help but depends on the locks. All locks can be broken, but the double chain and wheel lock one is technically the safest as someone has to destroy both the locks to remove it. Which means nobody gonna bother to steal it if someone else has 1 lock on it and its only a frame lock. In my opinion you are good, I stole bikes before when i was younger too, dont tell youtube i was poor XD. But no I can tell someone wouldnt steal this based on the locks being too much of a hassle. Especially if you get it to stick to a frame like one you park it at. Other people may worry but the bike is new, why wouldnt someone steal it. Well it is simple, you can steal yours with 2 locks and takes a bit of time. Or someone can choose any other bike like 100.000 on the train station with 1 lock. you get my point.

There’s not really enough to warrant a video but I’ll just summarize it here. It’s still a nice bike. I haven’t treated it as well as I should have. It sits outside and it’s not really meant to. So the lights stopped working and some of the bolts are a little bit rusty. Otherwise it’s been great. Still works fine. One pedal broke after about 6 months. I replaced it myself for about 12 EUR with stronger pedals.

Thank you for the review, I am about to buy the elops speed 900 and it has the same frame as yours, but I have concerns over the frame stiffness especially the back upper tube that's connected to the seat tube, have you experienced any issues with this or the frame stiffness is good enough especially that i don't ride in smooth roads, i am 1.8 m and about 82 kg

Thanks a lot for your review! I noticed that some owners had some issues with the Shimano Alfine gear hub after some time, like a lot of drag and not precise shifting gears. Did you have some of these problems with the gear hub or the chain?? I really want to purchase this bike but I'm not sure due to this issue (the other option would be the ELOPS 900)
@BienAsperge
@BienAsperge Жыл бұрын
Alfine gears are Shimano pro-amateur level products. The Elops Speed 920 has an internal gear hub that I have used for more than 9 months without maintenance. The Speed 900 has Altus Derailleurs that offers arguably better control. However I would still recommend the 920 because it has hydraulic brakes. 900s only get mechanical disc brake.

@@BienAsperge how fast 920 and 900 goes or can go?
@BienAsperge
@BienAsperge Жыл бұрын
@@RagulCJ In terms of speed it's very much dependent on your legs and your position - but a general rule of thumb is that the 900 can maintain a greater efficiency comparing to the 920, as internal hubs tend to lose a bit more power given the same pedalling power.

Can the front headlight be mounted on a different handlebar and stem? If I were to get this bike, I'm likely changing out the stem and handlebar that has more sweep (not so straight). It'd be a shame if the lights can't be re-used. Also, are there any mounts on the back to add a rear rack?
@Kerleem

I don’t think the headlight can be moved to another handlebar. Or at least not easily. I think a rear rack can be mounted. They sell an accessory for it, but I don’t use one.

Finally a video on this bike :D Well, do some others in action ;) A question for you: do you think is so much uncomfortable on cubblestones? What if you try to jump on sidewalk? I ask because i live in Napoli, some streets are nearly ancient roman empire ones and i have never had a without suspension forks but i'd like to try its agility, lightness and, why not, charming style (sorry: too much questions)
@Kerleem
@Kerleem 3 жыл бұрын
There’s no frame suspension and the tires are quite firm so you feel every bump on big cobble stones. It’s quite uncomfortable. On more close-together brick roads (like in the video) it’s slightly bumpy but not unbearable. I haven’t tried jumping it from a sidewalk but it should handle a small dip ok since the tires are firm

The bike is solid and my Ebike conversion went great. kzfaq.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Very smooth ride at 30mph with no problems (135 miles ridden so far). The picture is a bit deceiving - there is WAY less space in the center of the frame than it shows. The suspension connection takes up the entire thing. So I needed to attach my battery on the bottom of the frame and my controller on the top. Instructions for assembly were lacking but honestly it wasn't too hard to figure out even though I have very little bike knowledge. Watched some youtube videos on adjusting the disk brakes but that was it. Still, I am loving it and very happy with the purchase.

Nice bike! A bit above my pay grade I'm afraid, if I had to pay for it myself and not my company. Some advice: don't drive too fast in the Netherlands when you're riding on the public roads, especially on bicycle paths (fietspaden). Your fellow cyclists might not expect such speeds. It might get really dangerous in cities on roads without a special bike path, because car and truck drivers don't expect it... They will only get a scratch on their vehicles but you might end up in hospital.

The bike looks good, lightweight helps a lot, but watch out for when going up different height, Light frame means aluminium. Alu is easier to bend. So take it slower on a risen path. like going on the pedestrian walkway from a road. cause you ca bend the wheel if you hit it too hard. One advise i got for that bike is a different saddle.
