Last year, we got the version of this tent for five people. Us 3 could live pretty comfortably in there - with a tarp as an awning. And yes, we fully encountered the bug problem. On the one hand, with their system, airflow is really nice. Our tent even has a bug net along the front edge of the sleeping cabin. But for some reason, it is not connected with the floor tub of the entrance room. So bugs are free to go in and out. Good thing the sleeping cabins can be fully closed. And yes, it is heavy. But it is also made of technical cotton, which is great for climate. The weight is not a problem for us, as we use it for car camping only. One thing I learnt the hard way: be careful what you are joking about. Always said "We do not need an inflatable tent, this is ridiculous." Now...I love it. So much nicer than inserting long poles through a sleeve.

Thank you for sharing your experience! It's good to know that the Decathlon Air Seconds 4.1 F&B tent offers comfortable living space, especially with a tarp as an awning. The bug issue sounds frustrating, but it’s great that the sleeping cabin can be fully sealed off. The heavy weight seems manageable for car camping, and the technical cotton material sounds excellent for maintaining a comfortable climate inside. It’s funny how your perspective on inflatable tents has changed - they really do make setup much easier!

Thanks for the very informative video. At 10.22 you mention that the corners of the middle section have no seams - so, bugs [and cold weather] can easily enter from there. Also at 11.14 you mention that the bottom of the door is similar (it doesn't have a zipper) with the same disadvantage of bugs and cold weather gaining easy access. In practice, have you found insects gaining access through these openings and how much of a problem has this been for you? Does anyone else know of a somewhat similar tent that has the advantages of this Decathlon tent without the disadvantage of similar openings in the tent?
@campingeek
@campingeek 10 ай бұрын
Hi there! Thanks for your comment and questions. In our experience, the middle section’s seam and the bottom of the door without a zipper did pose a minor issue for us. In the bedroom section, which is completely protected, we didn’t encounter any problems. However, in the living room section with these openings, we did have one incident where a mouse entered through those openings and nibbled on our bread. So, it’s something to be aware of. I’m not aware of any specific recommendations, but you might want to check with other campers or do some research to find a tent that suits your needs. Happy camping! 🏕️

awesome. is there a benefit rather than setup timing of this type of tents?
@campingeek

The biggest advantage of these types of tents is the ease of setup. Other than that, the wind resistance is slightly better. I don't think there is any other advantage besides these two points.

The main reason I purchased this tent is for their "Fresh and Black" material, which keeps the tent cooler in the mornings while the sun blasts on it. At a couple of past events I had a "regular" tent and some friends a tent with the similar "Fresh and Black" material. They could sleep like kings in the morning while I was forced to escape my sauna room and find shade outside of my tent.

Could this be a good spacious tent for one person?
@campingeek
@campingeek Жыл бұрын
It's entirely up to your preference. It is very big for one person but also very comfortable. I think the downside of buying this tent for one person would be the weight. Because it will be difficult to carry this tent along with other camping gears to camping locations that away from the car, especially alone. My motivation for buying this tent is to use the front part of the tent instead of having to set up separate tarp in windy or rainy weather. I would recommend having an extra, more portable tent along with this one, just in case.

Hi I have two questions. I have two kids and they want to have a camping experience. Is this camp enough or should I look at the 4.2 version? Secondly, are there any good beginner camping sites near London that you could recommend (if you are in the UK)?
@campingeek
@campingeek 6 күн бұрын
Hi! Regarding your first question, the tent's bedroom can comfortably accommodate 4 people. However, I wouldn't recommend sleeping in the living area because it's not fully enclosed, which means insects might get in. If staying in the same room is okay for you, this tent should be fine. If you prefer sleeping in separate sections, the 4.2 version might be better. As for your second question, I don't have any information on beginner camping sites near London. Maybe someone else can chime in with a recommendation?

Hello, one of these was left behind at the glastonbury festival today so I packed it up and took it home. The correct pump was also left behind which goes to 7 psi. The smaller pump on this video only goes to 4 psi but it seemed to do the trick👌

I live in Colorado, and have a classical tent. Do you recommend this tent to use in a climate like in here for the winter?
@campingeek
@campingeek Жыл бұрын
I also want to use this tent for winter camping. I think it is not suitable for use in winter as it is, but I think it will be usable in winter with a few modifications. I don't have the opportunity to test it for winter because winter has passed in the region where I live now. I have three modifications in mind for winter preparation. 1- I will attach a silicone stove jack in the transparent window section(I will put a reflective material between the stove and the tent for safety). 2: I am considering a solution to cover the top ventilation hole in the entrance. 3: I am thinking of a solution to cover the gaps under the door and in the middle section. If you have any suggestions regarding the 2nd and 3rd points, I can consider them.

If you put a ground sheet underneath it, AND if it rains, you end up with a trapped sandwich of water between the groundsheet and the tent's groundsheet. You will spend days trying to remove the water which would have soaked into the ground anyway. The tent's own groundsheet is adequate.

The biggest downfall I see on this tent is when it rains, I imagine water falls inside through the vented window on the side? Why isn't there a cover to stop rain coming through the window? The one on the inside will collect water and once you open it, it will fall inside
