Thank you Kelly for encouraging everyone to stop take a deep breath and take a step back and actually look - without judging yourself but also being honest with yourself - and growing and gaining perspective from the reflection on this past year 2021. I hope everyone is happy and healthy (this used be be a sidenote and is now the first thing people wish each other) and feels comforted instead of anxious with the knowledge that some things might need to give and change in order for you to develop into a happier, stronger and healthier version of yourself.

Thank you so much for encouraging us to reflect at the end of the video. I get like this at the end of the year, as well, and realize there are things I need to change. But I hear you on how we need to be more forgiving of ourselves; hopefully I'll be more able to practice that in the coming year. Happy 2022 💖

Thank you for being so candid with us at the end. To be honest, I feel so scared of 2022 because it feels like 2021 just never happened. I went into 2021 with excitement and hope, now I’m just depressed about 2022 fast approaching. All my extended family is in China. I was finally able to visit them in the summer of 2019 after 9 years of not being able to go back. I was suppose to be back during the winter of 2019 for upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations. It would’ve been the first time in my life celebrating CNY with my extended family and in China at all. Then COVID hit and I kept thinking I’ll be able to the following year. Next year would be the third missed opportunity. I’m really worried that I’ll grow even further apart from my extended family and that I won’t be able to see my maternal grandma before she passes away so the passing of 2021 is just so devastating to me.

I really like the reflections part of these videos; you've actually inspired me to intentionally set a time aside to really reflect on the past era. I correlate with you on 2020 and 2021 being an era because it just didn't/doesn't feel like 2 years; it feels like one big blob lol.. a huge chunk. I do want to be and feel more intentional with my time and not feel it and see it just pass me by. I've got an interview today, but after my interview, I'll make myself a cup of tea and sit down with your latest podcast ❤

Yesss the LRP Lipikar+ for your body is perfect for my irritated skin. After long use my skin is definitely happier. I use the Bioderma cleansing oil to remove antiperspirant from my armpits in the shower, it works really well! Regular soap and the LRP body wash do not remove antiperspirant very well.

I never thought of the other benefits of gua sha, I've always dismissed that trend but you make it sound so beneficial overall! I have tension headaches and grind my teeth at night, and my dentist told me to find ways to release stress. I might try this out, thank you!

How should you know that tho, what's the best option or option at all. Not a question directly to you, but he's a dentist and from what i've seen, there's a lot of people that grind their teeth at night. People would usually, you know, expect from them to give some example since they are not prescribing you anything other then telling you one information that you noticed yourself. You pay huge amount of money for what, basically nothing. It's not even a guidance let alone help.

Guasha's the only thing that's ever worked at draining away my dark eye circles. It was done by a professional and I don't recommend you do it yourself unless you're trained to do it properly because you might hurt yourself. I know dermatologists will scoff and dismiss it as ludicrous but I can only speak from my own experience.

@@KellyDriscoll Yeah. The salon where I had a facial once was having this promotion and although I was fully skeptical, I still went ahead with it (not expecting any results) but I was pleasantly surprised to see that my under eye area was instantly brighter and I didn't look tired anymore. And it actually stayed like that for weeks! That is until my bad lifestyle choices reversed it again. 😂😂

If you think about it it’s pretty simple. Massage help muscles heal faster and improves blood circulation. Gua Sha is just a massage specifically for your face with a special tool. Any dermatologist who immediately looks down on it especially if done by a someone trained in it, is not on the side on science but on the side of arrogance. Can understand a dermatologist being skeptical of someone in their home doing it but not a being open to it being done by a trained professional.

There's a BHA that feels like water in their clear line (make sure to get the regular strength). It feels more gentle but still effective and isn't tacky or greasy at all. It has no finish and feels like nothing. I'd recommend trying the mini 1 oz bottle! 100% better than the gray bottle version.

I agree the Isntree new 2% BHA liquid is indeed the better version of Paula's Choice BHA liquid. It works well for my pores and actually more hydrating (I uses it). Thank god they didn't use betaine salicylate but used the pure form salicylic acid because I personally find the derivative one is too weak to see the result... It has added benefit of chestnut shell extract that is supposed to regulate your sebum production and it cost much cheaper... I don't see why I should use the PC one when now I can get the Instree one.
@christtinaaxo
@christtinaaxo 2 жыл бұрын
if your skin needs salicylic acid to be at a lower PH to be effective (as mine and many others do, though it isn’t completely necessary), the Isntree is really meh. It literally feels like hydrating water and it isn’t really acidic, which could be good for some people, but it didn’t actually do anything for me. So the texture is definitely better but it’s nowhere near as effective as it could be. (Just a tip for anyone looking to compare!)
@tojin
@tojin 2 жыл бұрын
@@christtinaaxo Well I used the Isntree one and it delivered the BHA benefit just as much as Paula's Choice one, and Kelly seems to have same opinion with me too! Isntree one does have lower PH as tested by other skincare specialist (sodium hydroxide is the PH adjuster for exfoliating products which is included in the product) People are misguided by the fact Paula's Choice one became like the cult favorite so they automatically think that would be the best one without trying out but at the end of the day, what works for you is the best (skincare is very personal). Based on many reviews, Paula's Choice is not always the best and besides their price point is not appealing and texture is meh...
@christtinaaxo
@christtinaaxo 2 жыл бұрын
@@tojin Glad it works for you! I actually don’t use PC anymore as I found a better alternative, but this was just a general tip for anyone wondering. I’ve seen a lot of people say the Isntree isn’t that good (not even in comparison to PC, just in general) so I just wanted to give my opinion on it. I have it sitting on my nightstand with not much use unfortunately!

I get a little confused when I see people talk about the lipikar wash on the face - I bought this because I wanted to have something I can use on my face and body as I do my morning routine in the gym and I wanted to keep it simple - but for me it’s too drying and I have oily skin that doesn’t dry easily. I see that sodium laureth sulphate is the cleansing agent on mine and that is definitely not the gentlest cleaning agent. I’m in Sweden, I wonder if the US version is different as I’ve seen this recommended on a few channels even for people starting retinoids.
@jjayjae_
@jjayjae_ 2 жыл бұрын
The US version has that surfactant as well but it also has Shea Butter in it, so I guess that’s what Kelly’s referring to when she says that’s it’s very cleansing but leaves behind some moisture.

Paulas choice has a 2% BHA under their CLEAR line (in a blue bottle) that I much prefer over the gray bottle. Theres a regular strength and an extra strength in the CLEAR line (the extra strength is actually the same exact formula as the gray BHA bottle!!!). I prefer the regular strength because it feels like water on the skin and is less harsh :)
