So happy you are having peace about the decision you've made! So important! I have had a surgical tube placement several times and just wanted to mention that you may want to bring up the EDS in regards to healing and maybe mast cell. I'll share some of my experience in case it could be helpful... Ive had trouble every time becuase it's a rather large vertical incision and my skin does not like to heal together, especially after making an incision in the same spot 5 timed... The last time I ended up with a wound vac becuase of how far the wound opened back up. I also have a reaction to several types of sutures which doesn't help becuase obviously inflamed skin doesn't heal. We've tried staples and found they work better but have to leave them in for a week longer. We also find that my poor nutrition contributes so surgeon usually orders some extra protien (I use prostat, a collagen based protien) this proves somewhat helpful in my case. In regards to pain we have an anesthesiologist place nerve blocks, like what they use for c section, in order to numb the area and that way I can tolerate the pain with fewer narcotic pain meds. They usually send me home with with one elastic pump on either side, like what some antibiotics come in, and I can get about 5 days with it. Light compression has also helped me, most hospitals have some kind of girdle or back brace to do the trick. I didn't use it all the time buy very helpful when moving around more or getting in and out of a vehicle. If they are stitching it in place you may want to ask what the plan would be for exchanging it, if IR could or will it be ANOTHER surgery. I ran into this and was so disappointed that the way my surgeon sutured it required them to open me all the way back up. Currently using the stoma from that surgery but switched to a balloon which can be easily replaced in IR. Obviously there are pros and cons to both and that's very individual. Will be praying you come out the other side of this stronger and with minimal pain or complications! Thanks for sharing your life with us!

Yay! I'm so happy you are finally at peace hun. Kind, confident, caring and competent that is what I look for in any doctor. It's amazing the relationship you can build with a doctor that sees you as a person and not a case file. I'm so glad that you have great doctors Jaq. Making informed decisions and going to more than one surgeon will allow you to make the best choice for you. Still you are in my prayers.

I'm glad you made a decision about the tube. To me it seemed like 2 tubes was the obvious decision but then again I'm looking at the decision from a very removed place and you're thinking about the surgery and recovery and weighing pros and cons. But once you're all recovered kinks will be a thing of the past and you won't have to worry that you suddenly won't be able to get calories for a week. I just hope the surgery goes well and you can pick a surgeon you like and who will take time to talk to you and explain everything so you feel comfortable with them.

It is funny what temperature you get used to. I am in New England and this morning was arguing with the kids to put on gloves. They did not want to because it was only 33 degrees (F).
