This is because our brains are actually really bad at remembering things, like faces and people. So it basically just fills in the blanks in your memory with a "fake" memory. So if two people look similar, your brain pretty much assumes they are almost identical until you are actually looking at them with your own eyes, then you can see all the differences. Our brains basically lie to us all the time instead of actually remember things :D

Honestly I was just looking for more alex lawther stuff, I saw this when I first searched alex lawther, I thought it was weird just seeing in the thumbnail, but once I ran out of alex lawther content, I decided to watch this vid, and at first I just kept waiting for a part where alex was in it, but after awhile I started to like the song, I kept playing this for a week, and I then found out about the other versions of the song, and I gotta admit they all sound awesome, now I'm listening to all of declan mckenna's songs, even Brazil, he's super talented and is very underrated, I hope he will get more recognition in the future.

I used to go to a private school on scholarship and the class difference between me and the other kids was huge, along with the fact my parents are immigrants. I was just a permanent outsider. I was a troubled kid who indeed was 'called in for after-school meetings' and could never afford 'nikes' and 'chinos'. It was difficult when all my classmates were living in mansions with parents who were high-flying business execs with Lamborghinis and Porsches whilst my mother drove a second hand Toyota and we lived in a tiny run-down flat. I was obviously treated differently because of it, including the kids, their parents and even the teachers. This song is really good at conveying the deep-seated anger that comes along with having socio-economical inequality rudely shoved in your face every day since you were a kid.

I could totally be wrong because I have not watched any Declan McKenna interviews on this song (I'm a new fan), but I'm assuming this music video is open to any interpretation and there's no such thing as incorrect interpretations. So for anyone who has no clue what they just watched, here are some ideas: 1. This music video (especially the "two heads are better than one sign" and the theater setting at the beginning) reminds me of when celebrities say that they have two sides: the side they show to the public and their natural, less restricted selves, and how choosing between the two and sacrificing one for the other daily is a constant battle they face because they feel like they lose themselves in the process of being famous. 2. It could also represent the battle we humans have within our own minds with OCD, depression, bipolar disorder...I mean the list of disorders goes on, and even if you don't have a mental disorder, you battle with yourself in life. 3. Or it could be the battle between Declan McKenna and outside forces, which is much closer to the lyrics, since Declan mentions "they've got it in for me" and points out different critics. I first became a fan when I heard "Brazil" and what amazes me about Declan is that there is this magic that Declan produces in their melodies where the songs embody an entire generation and make you feel a sense of nostalgia, even if you are a teenager or young adult, because it perfectly emulates the teenage/young adult condition (the angst, the excitement, the confusion, and the novelty of it all). Although the melodies may feel more young, the lyrics are applicable to all ages, and represent what we face in every phase of life. The lyrics are poetic with the double meanings, figurative language, and flow. Declan McKenna is most certainly paving the way.

I think, based more off the lyrics than the video, that perhaps it's about fitting in and becoming "successful" by following expectations set by society. Haha I have no idea why I am analysing this. But yeah, I feel like the second Declan is watching him, making sure he does what he 'should' do until the first one starts to resent it.

I might be looking too much into this video but to me, it seems Alex in the video represents some sort of mental illness such as anxiety and/or depression. The way Alex slowly starts to become the more dominant force within the video could portray how things like depression slowly start to seep into peoples lives; at first, it could be almost unnoticeable demonstrated in how at first Alex comes across as friendly but over time starts to cause pain in Declan's life making him withdraw, stop eating, stop doing the things he loves such as reading, etc all of which are presented within the video. As it becomes more and more dominant its as if Declan tries to fight it off but ultimately, in the end, ends up loosing and becoming a shadow of his former self, presented at the end with Declan being in the reflection instead of Alex.

2 years ago, i was at my house, and i was making cereal, but when i looked into fridge i discovered that there was no milk left, because of that i started to get really depressed, my family and friends wouldn't help me, all they would say is "it's just cereal get over it" but when in reality it wasn't just cereal, later on i found about Declan McKenna, and thanks to his music i was able to eat cereal, even when i was out of milk, and now my life is turning around for the better, so to anyone who plans on making cereal, if you have no milk, don't let that stop you from enjoying your cereal, you can still eat your cereal without milk. finally i just want to say, thank you Declan McKenna, thank you, you've changed my life forever.
