Amen I have been giving and organizing for a yr. My mother in law down sized everything about six yrs before she went to be with the Lord. I think of the kids having to go thru a mess of mine. I even have empty drawers. I could never wear everything as it is now. Some folks have nothing, pass it along ! Blessed day to all !

I watched this video while I was drinking my coffee yesterday and before I could even finish the coffee I found myself in our master closet purging like no one was looking. 11 trash bags and 1 box later - our closet looks amazing. I found clothes that I wore before I was pregnant (20 years ago) that I thought I had already purged. Thank you for getting me motivated.

I've held on to some branded stuff for 10 years and finally got rid recently . I bought them in 2006 and never used them as they did not flatter me or fit me well . I was motivated to use them because I spent a lot of money on those clothes.I just moved houses in between but still carried them with me. I finally celebrated 10th anniversary of with them and finally donated them . It's our mentality to hang on to the things we spend more money on , even if we don't use them. I used to think I might use them in future, but I never will.

Yeah it feels good to not have to store out of season clothes and if I need a sweater in the summer I know which drawer it is in👍🏻 I got rid of all plastic hangers and bought the Joy Mangano type, if anyone has a small closet they are wonderful and don't take as much space as plastic hangers, it does feel good to have matching hangers.

Ok so I've watched several of these organization/down size inspirations now, and I finally pulled off the task of emptying my entire home, and most of my storage shed, of the excessive amount of junk I had accumulated! There was literally a mountain of stuff to carry away, but totally worth it! Just wanted to say thank you for the organization tips and inspiration!

I donate a lot to a social warehouse. Everytime I drop off something I like to look at all the things that they offer.....every now and then I see some of my old belongings....and this is a great time to realize that I DEFINITLY don't want the item back!This experience also helps me to get rid of other things more easily.Thanks for your vids.

I took out 4 kitchen size trash bags full of clothes out of my closet a few weeks ago. I couldn't believe there was so much to donate. I love having only what I want to wear in my closet now and what flatters me.

I beat you Kathryn, I did my closet's 2 week's ago, I used to be a guilt saver, Oh I gave x amount of dollars for this Michaels Kors dress, or this Michael Kors purse, or this London Fogg jacket, or even a Vera Bradley purse, but if I'm not using it, how much sense does it make to keep it, if you don't wish to donate it to say Goodwill, ask family and friends if they could or would use the items, and then you can see who's got the items you paid so much for and how much they love the item ! My niece get's a lot of my clothes and all of my family fight's over my purses, so it's a win, win ! Also if you donate to a thrift store or an origination, you can get a tax write off, helps me every time ! Great Video, thanks for sharing!

I just weeded out my closet (again). My closet had water damage (broken water heater) and I had to take everything out anyway so it was the perfect time to purge. It feels great to get rid of things that I know I won't wear again or never wore in the first place. Yes, I am about to donate something that still has tags. Now I can see what I actually have so I know what to look for when I go shopping. It's a great time and money saver!

This might not work for everyone but when I go in my closet and I pick something out and I try it on, if it doesn’t look right feel right or flatter as you say or if there’s stains or rips on it immediately goes to the garbage or a donate box I keep constantly, so I have something to put things in make a monthly run to the Goodwill❤

I just bought some new fall clothes that I absolutely love and they inspired me to feel that way towards all my clothes in my closet. I did a purge and my mentality was "do I love these clothes like i do as if they were my new clothes?" and "can I see myself wearing these?" And it really helped! This is soooooooo helpful!! Clothes and purses are the most difficult thing for me. When you said 20 minutes I went 😱 because i always go back and forth and take forever!

I really needed to watch this video...... I've been "saying" that I'm gonna clean out my closets for literally years, but...... I've done nothing because of the fear of missing the clothes after I give them away...... but, if I never wear them, what is the point of keeping them and this video has motivated me to just DO IT !!! that black dress since it has that ruffle look, you can make it into a skirt extender. take a slip so however much you need to the bottom and put it under any skirt or dress that is getting too short to extend the life of that fav outfit

Love your bubbly personality. At the beginning of each season I hang all my clothes backwards, then as I wear them I turn them forward and then at the end of a season anything still backwards I get rid of. Sometimes I even put stuff in backwards after wearing if I feel a little on the fence about it. It has really helped me get rid of more clothes.

This weekend, after seeing your video, I truly asked myself for each item "does it fit? Does it flatter me? Do I feel good in it?" lol and because of that I took an entire overflowing full size truck bed full of stuff to goodwill! I am so glad that someone else was into the Tinkerbell craze a few years back. I bought one, intending to wear it when I realized--as much as I've ALWAYS loved Tink--that, in my 7th decade of life, there was no way on Pluto or in Hades that I was EVER going to be able to wear that costume and not look totally ridiculous. Aging sucks, and common sense at some point has to kick in. It was a reality check. My life moved on.

I just need to stop telling myself that I may need it so give myself more time. I've run into situations where I finally realized I needed an item then regretted donating it. I hate when I react that way. So, now I have so many trepidations about cleaning out my closet when I know I should. I may try your storage idea.

Great Ideas! Also if there is a weight loss/bariatric clinic in your area, you can donate clothing, at least mine near me takes clothing. People who had weight loss surgery go through sizes quickly and they can use the clothes as they transition.

Wow! That's a good sized closet space. Mine is two feet wide and only 20" deep.... On the positive side, my small space helps keeps my wardrobe small😆

Katherine I know you said you don't like the black velvet hangers at the Dollar Tree but I couldn't disagree more. They are exactly the same as those at BBBY or similar; strong, uniform, gentle on clothes, they don't tear sweaters like other hangers can, AND a plus is how thin they are so if you're organizing a small closet like me- you can fit more in a tight space!
