When she visits you for the holidays, she could fly up with empty luggage (as much as possible) and then use that space for another round of things to bring back to her new home. Like Christmas presents and stuff she wants to keep from the basement boxes.

Karen I just have to say I love your basement declutters! I've been working on my basement too! It seems like I'm not making progress but I know I am it's just a slow process. And getting all the things out oh my what a task!! Anyway about your grand babies I know what you mean when you just can't see and love on them enough!! I just got my first granddaughter (Madison) and I love her to pieces!!! She's the sweetest ❤

Great job re-organising all the bedding and storing your daughter’s boxes. Also, it’s great you made the decision to declutter the food storage containers that no longer serve you. Like you said they didn’t help with your pantry organisation, so they were just taking up valuable basement space. Regards the cardboard box of wall pictures you keep deferring a decision on, I think perhaps you should ask yourself the question “Does seeing these pictures bring me joy or bring back happy memories?” Because if they are always just constantly stored in a box in the basement and not displayed, then that is perhaps telling you something about your need to keep them. I say this because the reality is many of us end up with too many wall pictures or wall hangings, but we can only display so many at once. Therefore, unless you are the kind of person to switch out wall pictures on a regular basis, then maybe consider looking at each picture individually and think about ‘exactly’ where you would display each one in your house. If you can’t think of a particular place within a few minutes, then strongly consider declutter it. Unless of course it is an extremely sentimental piece or one to be passed down to someone in your family. Any pictures you decide to hang should be put up straight away so they don’t end up going back in the box again, any you have no space for should leave the house. Anyway, just wanted to add I am looking forward to seeing the wreath you make with the all the pine cones.

You should give each kid a shelving unit that can hold all their stuff including their school stuff. I think it might help with the organization a little better

You will nevever believe that i cleaned, and now I am priming and repainting the wood trim that is our kitchen . I am trying to be don before my husband gets home from work. I wil put everything away and wait until he notices.

Hi Karen You have mentioned a few times about downsizing. As your basement is still overwhelming have you tried to pick a number (maybe 5) and each day declutter that number of items? I think this would have a bigger impact than moving things around. Good luck and keep up the momentum 😊

The trick with decanting is to make sure your container holds an entire package of what you want to decant. Then you wait until it’s completely empty before adding the new package. I only decant my main flours for bread making and granulated sugar.

It will feel so good to get the decluttered stuff out of the basement. I just did a huge amount of laundry and bought flowers to plant while I was out. Looks like I'll be gardening too today. 🌻🍄

I have 2 large garbage bags and three boxes of stuff right now to go to goodwill, and I'm not finished decluttering yet. I'm sick of clutter ! If I'm not using it, wearing it, or plan to in the next year, it's going because if I really found out I needed it again ,I'm sure I could find it again . What I ask myself is two questions when decluttering 1) if I was going to move tomorrow, and it was out of state, and I had to hire a moving truck to mive my stuff, pay by the lb. would I want to have to pack it, load it into a moving truck, pay to have it moved, ?? or if i died tonight, would i want to kids to have to deal with my stuff ? If the answer is no, then it's gone, no other questions asked. I need some prayers, my in laws sold the land my home is on and as of next month, I'll be homeless 😢😢.

My daughter is moving back home so I have to deal with the first CR-V load that we brought from her apartment on Tuesday. We just stuffed at least 10 garbage bags with clothing and linens and I'll wash a load or 2 each day so I can deal with putting it away in small increments. There's no way I can just let it sit around until she's done at her job and moves home for good at the end of the month.

If I decant, I empty the contain first, give the container a wash through the dish cycle, and then restock. I tried putting old food with the new food and it didn't go well.

Hi love your channel and that you keep decluttering. However can you please fold your linens nicely and put them in clear plastic boxes. The folding takes up way less space and in a clear container would work better on your shelves the bags, oh the bags😮nope tried it many years ago. Nope😂 keep on keeping on🎉

Yep I do that too, but stuff in garage to deal with it later. It is a mess right now. Be n so busy doing other projects we have not done any cleaning up In there lately.

Oh my God, I live in Maine near Karen and it was in the mid 90s and the humidity was in the 60s. Right now it’s almost 730 and it’s still humid as hell.

It amazes me tgat people do not fold their bedding, towel or clothes anymore. I fold everything. It takes up less room in our storage if we . I see many tubers that do not do any of that anymore. I wonder why??

No one does decanting for everything . What you see on the Internet is all for a show when they do that. The majority of what we see online is all for views. You really can’t take it seriously.
