You see it mentioned in countless commercials, and your phone might already use it, but do you know what it is?

Appears to be some confusion here, e.g. at 2:45, between the speed of data transmission (data-transfer rate or bandwidth speeds) vs. the speed of an electromagnetic wave, the latter being a constant, independent of wave frequency.

5G is coming? So cute! Sitting here in Korea, where they’ve had complete coverage with 5G for about five years now. Germany had excellent coverage three years ago. Whenever I visit the States, it feels a bit like “Back to the Future”.

So cute that the 🇺🇸 is how much bigger than your country? A little logic & critical thinking every now & again is a useful thing.
@wolf-bass2 жыл бұрын
@@dshepherd107 So you believe that the US has such abysmal internet service because it’s “big”? Critical thinking is important, but it’s useless when it’s not based on the facts. I’m not talking about providing service somewhere in the Mid-west; even WITHIN major US cities, coverage is spotty, outdated and slow. Inside the city limits of Los Angeles, for example, it is common to have no coverage at all (let alone 5G)! Providers still advertise with “no dropped calls”. That’s insane. Every square meter of Europe has “coverage” of 4G or better. Major cities all have 5G. Average speeds are double those in the States. No matter who your provider is, your phone will work anywhere and everywhere with no roaming fees. And an unlimited data and calls monthly fee for your phone will set you back about $20. (If 5gb is enough for you, it will cost about $5 a month!) There isn’t even a WORD for “dropped calls” in German. And, as I said, Korea already has had 5G for nearly 5 years. So has Japan and China. My download AND upload speeds are over 500Mbps. And in major cities like Seoul (“only” 18 million inhabitants), every floor of every building, including basements and underground parking lots, has 5G. But seriously, if it makes you feel better to believe that being so darn “big” is your problem, be my guest. I think it’s adorable.

The range of 4G network is approximately 10 miles, while the range of fifth generation network is 1000 feet. How they cover rural areas with those range.
@James_Knott2 ай бұрын
That depends on the frequency band used. 5G can use any band that 4G or 3G uses, but also includes higher frequency C band and mmWaves. Coverage on the lower bands would be similar to 4G on those bands, but the higher frequencies, particularly mmWave, would have shorter distances. On the other hand, they're better for areas with higher user density.

@@gerardparker4220 artificial intelligence does not need high latency networking. What that kind of Ghtz is incidentally good for is passive excitation of rfid circuits. Long story short, you could send out a 5G pulse and then get an echo back from each device connected to the network. Using triangulation you could be located through walls etc to a high accuracy range. A lot of items we own have rfid tags.
