Gibson has announced the launch of the Gibson Band, which features a revolving collective of Gibson artists. The Gibson Band’s first single “Deconstruction” which was co-written by Serj Tankian of System of a Down and Cesar Gueikian, CEO of Gibson, and features Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath on guitar is out now on Gibson Records: gibsonrecords.ffm.to/deconstr...
In addition to fronting System of a Down and co-writing the debut single, “Deconstruction,” Serj Tankian is also an accomplished painter. The cover artwork for the Gibson Band’s debut single “Deconstruction” is based on an original work of art by Serj titled “Our Mountains.”
Gibson Records, Cesar Gueikian, Serj Tankian, and Tony Iommi will donate all proceeds from the sale of the song “Deconstruction,” as well as the funds raised from an auction of Serj’s original painting “Our Mountains,” in addition to a unique Gibson Les Paul Standard guitar customized with the “Our Mountains” artwork, via Gibson Gives. Corporacion America and the Eurnekian family will match all funds raised which will be donated directly to the Armenia Fund’s Artsakh Refugee Initiative.
The exclusive global auction will run from Friday, December 8 through Monday, December 18, closing at 11:00 a.m. PST, via Julien’s Auctions: www.julienslive.com/auctions/...

Serj's voice sounds like scratch tracks for 3 different songs... None of which are the song we are listening to. So much potential here (I'm a giant fan of Serj and Iommi) but this fell flat. The song Serj did on Iommi's self titled solo record is 10 times better.

Man I agree. I love Serj so much as a human and musician. I almost feel like the standard song format should have been scrapped so Serj could do what he does. I feel like Gibson may have had a big say in the the production which is not unusual. But hey! This isn't a money grab. It's a fundraiser. So, It's a little harsh to rag it when it's all going to help people that are in a bad way.

I love that they went with this tripped out painting in the background. People are going to say bad things on the way serj sounds but i love that they chose to release this song the way it is, its different and gives us the weird side of serj we love and his on piont lyric writing with todays world. Serj is usually the highlight of any track he is on. I agree he is a little low in the mix as well. I'm so used to hearing him backed by SOAD and his solo stuff that it seems a little forced into place. Production wise mostly. I don't know, this is not just a Gibson "product".
