Another pair of bald Eagles visit the Decorah nest before sunrise this morning. The female looks to be about 4 to 4 1/2 years old and the male at least 5 years old.

Nice to see this beautiful pair taking advantage of the nest. Just visiting or will we see if they adopt the nest and raise eaglets? So very sad that we cannot continue Mom’s journey. Have followed her every season since the 2008 documentary on PBS when she first met up with Dad.

Younger pair. Possible that one could be Mom and Dad's offspring returning to their natal territory. Exciting to have a new pr to watch.

I thought the same thing about off spring, now mature, returning to home territory to nest. What is the possibility that Mom decided on a new nest to make way for her off spring?

I watched this morning and, like a comment below, wondered if progeny of Mom and Dad could have come home to roost? The male got a trout and ate it on the "skywalk" limb like he was accustomed to it. Hope they stay. I love her eye make-up. Egyptian style : )

Looks like the female doesn't want male making any changes to the nest. Maybe that means she'll take it as is and they will stay?

It's hard to believe after so many years at this nest that Mom Decorah would be willing to give up this nest. The location can't be beat for food source. I sure hope the owners of the property where Mom and DM2 are currently will allow cameras. It just doesn't seem the same without seeing Mom Decorah. Perhaps this visiting pair will be adopting this nest. I wonder if the female is the sub adult who was attempting to build a nest at N1 last summer?

Hopefully the owner would allow cams on their property to continue documenting Mom since she has such a history in that area.

Did mom and dm2 permanently leave this nest? Looks like they are checking out the new house in case they like it. Hope so. They are beautiful.

Mom & DM2 have at least one egg at the new nest, so they will stay there for this season, but not sure if they will ever return to this nest. This pair is beautiful and I hope they stay.

I'm wondering how it will go sharing territory and the easy fishing available. But...at least we can watch (hopefully) eaglets this year.

With the American Bald eagle population growing in recent years there will be shrinking territorial space.

Do scientists have any theories why eagles change nests like this? I'm wondering if it's because of the black flies and gnats? Or just because the nests get too big, too...???

Bald eagles may also have one or more alternate nests within their breeding territory. This is the third nest for the Decorah Eagles now. One was destroyed from a thunderstorm.
