I know of another Eagle mother who brought a hawklet to her eaglet, Junior; the hawk was named Malala❤️. She cried continuously and they said that affects Moms too much and so she fed Malala instead of feeding her to Junior. It was so sweet. It ended up after Junior fledged he was found dead and eventually Malala didn’t come back to the nest!🦅❤️🦅

Oh My another day in the wild.. it's so tough when raptors of other kind are caught n brought for food..bless the ❤️ of the hawklet n understand what it was sacrificed for

Oh my, this is so much dejavu! 2ys ago in the same Decorah North nest a hawklet brought in alive. It was tortured for hours by 2 resident eaglets and eaten alive...

Sorry to see baby hawklet was caught. I would think that would be somewhat terrifying for the eaglets to see a bird resembling themselves being ripped apart by mom, too. Sad, but nature.

Birds cannibalize each other all the time. Probably the most out of every other meat eating creature. Adult birds take chicks from nests all the time to feed their own. It's just an easy meal for them.
