Decorating Dreadlock Extensions (Plus: DIY Dreadlock Extension Table)

I love creating customs for others but my favorite part is decorating them for my clients once they are finished! I will take you for the ride while I decorate the human hair dreadlock extensions. My extensions are twist and rip, backcombed, and crocheted. They are "perfectly imperfect" locs. I will show you how I create jewelry for them with beads and wire, make wraps and add unique charms to them and the thought process behind them! I will also include some links below that are related so you can also make your own dreadlock extensions! I know you can do it! Note: my customs are closed till July.
Plus my TV Tray turned human hair dreadlock extension making table! DIY! You can make one too or maybe this will help you think of something even better! So much easier to have a dreadlock table that holds the dreadlocks tight while sitting in the comfort of your bed, traveling or taking outside to work. I hope it helps you too!

I just wanna say how rad it is that you create these awesome pieces, video it and explain it all, (they turn out beautifully btw!), and then are so encouraging that we all can make them....and you're genuinely encouraging; not "I've been doing these for awhile and if you practice a bunch, someday yours will look as good as mine." Nope! In fact, you're the opposite. You said you're "the most non-crafty person" and for the sake of saying it just to say it, i hope you truly know that that's not the case. Theres something to be said for good taste and definitely a good eye and you have both of those qualities. Hopefully you're just being modest, but if youre not, i hope you stop and take some time to give yourself the credit you deserve. Fr. I just think your assuredness and positivity and true belief that anyone can make these gorgeous pieces, is SO refreshing and uplifting! I watched it once and then I watched it again and scribbled down some notes. Then I got all psyched, grabbed a bunch of stuff, and proudly got ready to make some of my own, like it was "old hat" for me. I'm new here...sorry for the long comment...oh, lastly... I just wanna squeeze you you're so adorable. ✌🏼

I’ve started taking apart old jewelry that I no longer wear and using those pieces for accents and connectors. 😂 love how you wrapped the beads! I’m doing that.

I love love love what you do with the wire and smaller beads. It's just fabulous! I have been trying to figure out how I am going to incorporate all of my smaller beads, that's I just love, but won't fit on my locks. So thank you so much for the idea. I can't wait till my extensions come in I'm already planning on loop the things I'm going to decorate them with. I'm going to put ringer in my hair I'm going to put a bunch of my gauged tunnels in there when they're not in my ears. I'm so excited I just can't wait!

Oh good for you!!!! You should be able to make 30-35! You can double them up to make them longer too!!

I am so inspired by you! Love everything you do and have taken so many suggestions from you and how to encourage soft locks. I just finished making and installing my very first set of exttention, I am only at 4 weeks with my baby dreads, but I have two questions. I washed today and had 6 extentions fall out (was some of my first I installed), did this happen to you at first? And my second questions is, my ends seem "tooo" wispy, did I do something wrong?

Do you wash the dreads with these pieces on there?? Surely you don’t remove them each time you wash the dreads?

I've always wondered if people are really stripping all these decorations out when showering and I guess so! More power to ya, but I dont have the time or patience for that. So mine all stay in, except for a couple super important ones or lil delicate guys. That just means that they will wear down a lot quicker (especially wooden beads). I use my wood burner and decorate wood beads, and it doesn't take long for them to wear down to completely naked. BUT, I like when they start breaking off or are smoothed back down to naked...because then I get to create more and mix em up. Good luck!
