I participated in wanderlust live at the first of September and signed up for 2024 on the early pricing. I didn’t know if I would want to do the classes in a journal or not, but seeing your journals 😍 filled with fun projects I’ve decided to try that route. This is a huge commitment for me because I never seem to allot time to play and I’m hoping this will become part of my everyday routine 👍🏻. Just found your channel this morning and I’m really enjoying your videos and your art!

Oh I think you will really enjoy Wanderlust! I really like having my pages/lessons all in one place but I know others use multiple journals or work on individual papers which they bind together later into a journal. Sometimes it's challenging to do the lesson in the journal. I had one case where we worked very large so I couldn't fit it in there. I always meant to go back and take a photo and include that on a page but I didn't ever do it. But that is an option as well so you have a full record of the year of classes.

Love how this turned out…it’s beautiful!! The colors are right up my alley! Never thought to use a pill bottle as a stamp. Will definitely be doing that next time I create. I also like that you used your finger to paint. I’m still learning how to get a brush to do what I want it to. I think I would have more control using my fingers. Going to give that a go as well. I have a tip for when you use the Stabilo pencil. You can activate it with liquid matte medium instead of water. That way it sets it. On the off chance your cover gets wet, it won’t smear. 😀😀 Happy creating!

Erin, I was hoping you would be an artist in Wanderlust 2024. I love your work. You are one of my favorites. I’m about to turn 63 and started Bible journaling a few years ago and now also enjoy art journaling. I’m not an artist I just love and enjoy using the gelli plate, creating collage paper, and journaling. I signed up for Fodder School 1 after you mentioned Fodder School. Love it. I just now signed up for Wanderlust 2024. Thank you so much. Your journals are beautiful!

Since you talk about both Fodder School and Wanderlust, could you please explain the differences.
@eb_mixedmedia
@eb_mixedmedia 10 ай бұрын
I think WL is more directly related to art journaling and is more technique based whereas FS is more project based. In Wanderlust you have 49 weekly classes taught by several different teachers. The year is broken up thematically by art supply so you spend 5 or 6 weeks exploring a specific art supply and techniques to use it. Themes might include: craft paint, watercolor, gesso, pastels, sprays, pens, etc. Most of the lessons are completed in an art journal. Fodder School on the other hand offers two lessons each month with 12 different teachers. On the first of each month you get a lesson on making fodder--that is something you can use in your art journal or in other paper craft projects--it could be painted papers, tags, washi tape, clusters, or any number of things. On the 15th of the month the lesson demonstrates how to use that fodder to create a project--it could be a collage, a journal, a wall hanging, artist trading cards, greeting cards, etc. WL seems best for learning techniques and how to use supplies and being exposed to a variety of artists and styles, truly great for beginners. Though there is always something to learn even if you've been art journaling for awhile. FS is kind of learning new ways to incorporate these techniques, and applying it beyond your journal. Both are great value and really well done. Many people do both courses. The same teachers are often featured in both. Both allow lifetime access to the videos.

A question, Erin. I am finishing the same Dylusions journal. It became VERY chunky. Would it work, do you think, in my new book, to cut out some pages here and there leaving about a 1/4" stub at the binding to make space between pages? Thank you
@eb_mixedmedia
@eb_mixedmedia Ай бұрын
Yes, I believe some people cut pages out to make their journals a bit "thinner". Mine are super chunky and they still do close with the elastic. I have seen people cut spines as well. I'm not sure exactly how they do it but I'm sure you can find a video on KZfaq about it.

How would you say Wanderlust differs from Fodder School? I hadn't heard of it till just now in your video! I am signed up for Fodder School for the first time(also discovered that thru your videos!) and one thing I see as a difference is that Wanderlust sticks solely to journals.....which is more my jam!

Themes might include: craft paint, watercolor, gesso, pastels, sprays, pens, etc. Most of the lessons are completed in an art journal--though some people create on papers and assemble them into a journal at the end. And occasionally there is a project and not necessarily a journal spread. WL seems best for learning techniques and how to use supplies and being exposed to a variety of artists and styles, truly great for beginners. Though there is always something to learn even if you've been art journaling for awhile. It's also more reflective I think. There is more journaling invovlved and I find myself working through some emotions in my work. FS is kind of learning new ways to incorporate these techniques, and applying it beyond your journal. Both are great value and really well done. Many people do both courses. The same teachers are often featured in both. Both allow lifetime access to the videos. You can find a flip through of my first Wanderlust Journal here if you want to see more of what it's about. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rZ5hdNNzkpnMmZ8.html That year the lessons were theme based rather than supply based.

If you are interested in taking a class then I would suggest Wanderlust. It's a year long class for art journaling and you learn a variety of techniques, tools, and styles from a new artist every week. It's very good value. That's where I started. www.everything-art.com/courses/wanderlust-2024-mixed-media-course?affcode=113232_cqeutlht Of course KZfaq videos and Instagram are also a great place to learn and it's free! Just watch videos and then start playing. Don't buy too many supplies at once. Use what you have. And don't be afraid to make a big mess. It's all about the process and having fun.

I just signed up for wanderlust. Does the dylusions journal work for watercolor projects or do you have a separate watercolor journal?
@eb_mixedmedia
@eb_mixedmedia 10 ай бұрын
That is so great! I think you will really like it! Usually if the class involves watercolor I do the lesson on a piece of watercolor paper cut to the size of my journal so I can glue it in. That way I can keep all the lessons together. Some people work in multiple journals. Others work on loose paper then bind it all together at the end. I wanted everything in one place. So it's really up to you.
