Between 1962 and 1965 the Philadelphia native had nine Top 100 hits; with three making the Top 10 {her biggest hit was "Mashed Potato Time"*, #2 for 2 weeks in 1962}... Besides "Mashed Potato Time", her two other Top 10 records were "Gravy (For My Mash Potatoes) at #9 and "Ride" at #5, and they both also peaked in 1962... Also in 1962 she reached the Top 10 in a duet with Chubby Checker; "Slow Twistin'" peaked at #3... Ms. Sharp, born Dione LaRue, celebrated her 73rd birthday three months ago on September 9th, 2018... * The two weeks that "Mashed Potato Time" was at #2, the #1 record for both those weeks was "Soldier Boy" by the Shirelles...
