Others & I have and still do struggle with decluttering. About the question about what to do if you don’t have a donation center. Where I live we do have some donation centers, but I don’t have a car, so I asked my local church if there were someone willing to to help with the transport. And there was. Also we have a couple of local groups on Facebook, give a way for free groups, where we post with pictures and descriptions and then people can pick them up at your house.

That is so wonderful & such a GREAT solution! It seems from the comments I've received in regards to that obstacle, that churches seem to be a great place in helping with donations as well as so much more! Which is so wonderful & so nice. From what I know now I would say the first place I would call are local churches or a church you go to ❤️ I also think that is a great idea, checking out local groups on FB and see if there's groups there that would be willing to help with any donations. Love Marie Kondo and her methods, I actually should utilize her methods much more frequently, I believe (I could be wrong, but Im about 99% sure) she is the most popular organizer with the most popular method, from what I've researched. Humane Society will take a lot of things. Things you don’t even think of. That’s one of my favorite places to take things too. I feel they will really be used there too. ❤❤❤

My daughter lives in a large apartment complex with dedicated dumpsters. We decluttered her apartment and set all the items at the dumpsters. We propped up pictures, neatly stacked dishware. It was all gone within the hour. Someone needed those things and got them!! Win, Win!

This won’t work for everyone depending on their living situation, but some people who don’t have transportation or donation centers available may have success with a “free sale”. Like a garage sale, advertise it like a garage sale, but everything is free. My parents have had these when they’re doing a big clean out and simply don’t want to have to pack and transport a lot of things to the donation center. When they remodeled their house they put out a TON of stuff for a free sale and wound up with just 3 boxes of stuff at the end of the weekend. They said it was a lot of fun too, no haggling and they didn’t even have to be outside if they didn’t want to bc people were free to just come and take whatever they wanted. ❤❤❤

This is a small thing, but I just wanted to say how happy it makes me to see how you clean the inside of your cabinets. So many people seem to only wipe the bottom shelf of each cabinet, but you always clean the sides and tops inside too. 😊

LOL anytime I clean cabinets or drawers If I just clean the bottom shelf, I swear i'll dream about missing the sides and top of the cabinets/drawers 😂🤣 it will bug me so bad LOL esp. when I deep clean, if im just doing like a quick clean, I can handle that but not with deep cleaning. 😂 this comment made my day, thanks for always being here with me friend. Decluttering and organizing over here too! 😃 I think the key is to take it in small increments of time and work with what you have. Even 15 minutes over time can yield tremendous results! Sometimes we think all or nothing but baby steps really works!! ❤

Free sign on the corner or by a dumpster if you cannot get to a donation center. I live in an apartment and sometimes leave items in the lobby area. They usually get picked up within a few hours. Either people need it or use it and then pass it along. I always try to care for those possibly in need but cannot afford or even get to the thrift stores themselves. ❤

Pinesol reminds me of sleep away camp because we used to mop the bunks with it 😂 I still use it and it brings me back every time And windex brings me back to my first job working at a diner.. so crazy what scent memories can do haha

Hi, Danni! You talked about Pine Sol. My mom used to use that a lot. When I started my own place, I used Pine Sol too. Still do to this day. It disinfects and the smell lingers for a long time. You knew it was clean and always smelled good! I love it! Great for floors. Don’t use it inside the fridge. Anything outside like patio furniture it works great on. Love when your videos come on! What I started in 2022 where I live in the UK, is summer freebie day, anything you don't want or don't need we put out in front of our houses, no money changes hands it's all free !! You don't even have to be at home just put it all out. 😁💐

I used to use Pine Sol but now I make my own cleaner with cleaning vinegar. It’s stronger than regular vinegar. Years ago there weren’t any natural cleaners. In Canada we can call “Canadian Diabetes” and they’ll pickup donations. That’s for “Value Village”. Not sure if your location does that. Maybe call around and check it out? Good luck. 😊

Iowa Pine is my fav scent of Mrs Meyers! I love their dishsoap. But im a fan of the Method glass cleaner (mint) as my all purpose spray. Mostly because its natural and mild enough that when my kids (4 and 6) go ham with it all is still well 😂

Hey Danni, thank you again for a great motivational video. Well you mentioned that someone struggles with not having a donation center in the neighbourhood or near. Well me here I struggle the same, the next donation centres are very far away. I have thought also many times what to do. I have seen a family in my neighbourhood, they put a box or something out with a sign FREE, that is a great idea. If people think its worth taking, they will and what is left after a week or two or so you through away. I think that could be a solution.

Great job Danni and my brain works like yours when it comes to cleaning, decluttering, etc. No donation centers here either, too hard to sell, follow up on coordinating with people, etc plus am 65, disabled and care for my elderly mom with Alzheimer’s. I bought the same shower organizers on Amazon and love them!

This seems to be a very common thing, and its something that never occurred to me, there are so many people who have no donation centers around, thats a tough position to be in and that is so understandable! We can only do what we can do and we do the best that we can! I just wanted to say that I think you're a rockstar and doing an AMAZING job, I cant imagine how difficult that can be. I’ve been caring for my mom for 6 years with Alzheimer’s, love her to the moon and back but it can be physically, mentally and emotionally exhausting. Your channel and a few other decorating channels help so much late at night when I try to catch up on my cleaning, decluttering, laundry, etc. You’re the rockstar♥️

Kerb collection , sometimes charities collect donations , if you catch a bus somewhere take a bag of donations with you , maybe a local schools collecting for a sale , local freecycle site . Just a few ideas 😊

Danni I just love your new bathroom. That green colour is so beautiful. I like how you organised your cabinets too. The way you decanted small items into see through containers creating neat boundaries and categories for everything that you placed inside. Plus, I really like the white containers with the lids for larger items because they stacked easily and look so neat. I think for the lady who wants to declutter but doesn’t have transport or donation centres nearby, my advice would be to organise swap parties with friends/family at home or perhaps through your church (if you are a member) or at a small community centre. You could take things there by taxi if the place is local, or car pool with someone you know. Alternatively, you can find small reselling companies that will collect donations, but you might have to pay them to do so. Finally, selling stuff via an online marketplace is also an option, but it can be time consuming. Chinaware can often be sold via online replacement china services too.

You could donate some items to nursing homes, daycare centers or schools. Also if there are any homeless shelters or abuse shelters for women too

Good job Dani! I did the bathroom this past week too. I’ve decluttered so much in there - I mostly do maintenance declutters there now. I’m a crazy list maker. I keep a list of the contents of our bathroom. This last declutter round - i looked over my list and spotted things we could declutter. I got rid of more than I expected. I realized we had changed some habits or quit using certain products. Out it went. I’m getting better at letting go of useful stuff when I realize we are never going to use it. And, it’s sitting here on death row expiring. We can repurchase it if we need it in the future.

I’ve been decluttering on an off since the kids have moved out. Toys for Grand kids as well as they grow out of playing either them. There is no normal way to decluttering it has to fit you. The biggest decluttering struggle is TIME! I have multiple animals big and small which take up a lot of my time. 5dogs whom I trim an groom on my own, 3rabbits, 6 parakeets, 4 were born here from a pair I rescued, 3horses an a Shetland pony. I have training barn cleaning an god forbid any injuries that come along the way. Summer also pulls me away from the house with yard work planting vegetable gardens an cleaning out flower beds. I recently went through cabinets in my library an found things I grabbed an just put away from my parents home when they passed. A little was as old as me or older an I’m 60. I also live in Wisconsin so I’m your neighbor. I so enjoy your videos since I fit in with how you struggle to declutter ever though we’re ages apart. Keep up the decluttering videos I love them

I couldnt agree with you more! 10000% agree! There is no normal way to declutter it really is, as you put it so perfectly, what fits for you! Sometimes I get caught up in trying to organize & declutter in what I would consider a more "conventional" way but a lot of time it frustrates me, im now just going with the flow LOL And WOW you are incredibly busy, when do you find time to sleep lol. I have to admit I am so jealous, when I was little (Well even now lol) i always wanted a big farm with lots and lots of animals. But I am sure it is SO MUCH work, I can totally see how time is a big factor in decluttering for you! And im so sorry for your loss, im sending you a lot of luv, thoughts & prayers. I cant imagine how difficult that must be esp. to go through there belongings or things you've inherited, items i have inherited are hands down the hardest items for me to go through. Its definitely a process, but we do the best we can, & thats all we can do. You are so Sweet, I cant tell you enough how much that means to me! So grateful you're here with me friend! I have found the biggest problem with drawers is that you will fill them up - no matter if you need to or not and then you have piles of stuff you never need or use....getting rid of furniture with drawers helps reduce the amount of crap we collect....and I'm the worst one for that.....

Wow thank you! I've watched your videos for quite a while now. This may be the first time I've heard you say you still think about stuff you've donated and you regret (or almost regret) donating some of them. I have not heard any other declutter influencer ever say that! Thank you for your honesty! It makes me feel better that I regret a few things here and there that I've gotten rid of.

The amvets near me will pick items up if you call, but it’s usually weeks out. The bathroom looks great. I’ve tried new cleaners too the Dr. Bronner or whatever it’s called, it’s a concentrate with many scents for my addiction to smell lol. I love your Kleenex boxes they are so pretty, but I’m cheap and get the store brand. Can’t wait to see you in the next one. Enjoy the day 😊

Whatever I do not need, I have to throw in the trash or recycle. Nobody wants pre-owned stuff and there are no donation centers. This makes it very difficult to let go of stuff. When we left the US, we donated a lot before the move, and it was a fabulous solution.

I joined a local group buy sell trade group and offer stuff up for free...theres also a group where people just offer the stuff for free...we do front porch pick ups...so people could come to her even if she doesnt have the transportation!

danni, i wonder if a swap party at her place of work or perhaps a community center or apartment lobby could be organized for all the folks who have declutterred items to donate. it might be something that could be sponsored by her community government to gather people together and anything that’s left over could be driven (by a volunteer who has a vehicle) to a shelter in need. hugs from southern california 🧸

I’ve notice that if I or neighbors close by put something out 1-2 days before trash night people will come and grab it! People without ways of donating could always put stuff in open box with a sign on it “free” people will come and grab it! It’s just a idea for those unable to get stuff to a location or don’t have a donation center? Hope that helps

@@danniraearranged I hope I can reverse my health issues. I started a diet last monday and are in a little less pain, so hope's up. I'm kinda use to my husband being a bit of a hoarder, and he also takes free stuff. And I sometimes get hem to throw stuff out. We met eachother when we we're both adults with a whole inventory, so I have been downsizing a bit sneaky. I already was minimalish, so I didn't bring so much stuff. Except books and stationary . But I always have to have a plan to declutter to get rid of it. Making him agree, or sneaking it out of the house, throw out my own stuff instead (when double), accept the stuff or put it in his shed and let him deal with it.

There are places if you look on line that you can donate to and they will pick up if there are no donation centers near by . One example is the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) you can schedule a pick up they are all over the United States. There are others as well !!!

What I like about bathrooms is that bathroom stuff is usually pretty obvious that it belongs in the bathroom. That's not true with stuff like paperwork, electronics and the like. They can go in other places. Bathroom stuff goes in the bathroom. It takes out the first step of where to put an item. OMG, a knife!!! LOL!!! Ok, family of Danni, raise your right and repeat after me...Flatware is for eating. After I use a piece of flatware for eating, it goes back to the kitchen. Flatware is NOT A TOOL! Ok, this is funny. Dani - you really motivate me to get things done! Love the colour you used on your bathroom cabinets. Just one question: have you considered painting the quarter round under the cabinets the same colour as the cabinets? I’m wondering because I’m getting ready to paint my kitchen cabinets and trying to decide if the quarter round should match the baseboards or the cabinets.

Yes! I actually wish I would have painted the quarter round under the cabinets the same green as the cabinets. I personally think it'll look better, the white quarter round looks good throughout the rest of the bathroom but Im definitely painting the quarter round green under the cabinets, I think it'll flow better!? Definitely a personal choice though, what ever you love and looks best to you, go for it! And how exciting, I wish I could do a massive makeover to my kitchen, hopefully one day soon, I'd love to gut my kitchen HA! Thanks for watching & being here with me friend. Hugs xo

There are no donation centers near me. I joined both the buy nothing group and local community pages. When I post I always post free pick up my town and only after talking in pm do I share details. For furniture I reach out to churches that help families in need with a list of items I have and coordinate pick ups. Check nation wide organizations. Big brother big sister does pick up if you go to their website put in your address they will say if they pick up in your area or not. If there is a local homeless shelter there are often rehousing programs and staff can sometimes coordinate pick ups if they are moving someone

@danniraearranged while they say its ok for Stainless I have seen disasters. Best option for stainless is a soapy microfiber with something like dawn. Rinse well, and polish with Weimans or light coat of mineral oil. Buff well with a clean dry cloth.

A stainless steel kitchen sink is the only fixture I would use Bar Keepers Friend on, and still go with the grain.

I totally relate to this! I have a serious problem with obtaining essential items, I always have this feeling, almost urge to have an abundance of essential items, I'm getting a lot better with it, but I tend to have a lot of those items in my bathroom (i get it from my mom 🤣) I think that is something I will always have to work on and really keep an eye on. Its a process, we do things at our own pace and what feels comfortable to us. You got this!!! And as always, you are so sweet! And LOL "American Doppelganger" 🤣 LOVE IT!!! But I can totally see how doing things that way could be incredibly overwhelming. And Yes, I also agree, I think thats exactly what Im going to use, a silcone seal, because your right, eventually the contact paper will get ruined, water will eventually get under there. Happy Friday Danni! I was happy to see you posted a new video! You always inspire me. Yesterday I decluttered some old towels and an extra comforter. Then I had room to rearrange that closet and I figured out a much better arrangement so we can better see where all our extra toiletries are. I’ve realized that sometimes if I experiment and rearrange things in a few different ways it helps me find a better solution. So often I’ve just left things where I originally placed them when we moved into our house. You’ve helped me look at things with new eyes. Thanks for all you do! Hugs. 😊❤🐦

The best time for me to declutter is on Wednesday 10:30-2:30 I use a donation box a basket for papers bag for trash set it in my hallway on Thursday I transfer the donations in white trash bag put it in the van and donate it to the thrift store

Hey girl, I love your video!!!! I wasn't sure if you knew about this but there are paints you can use on your bathtub to make it look new again! There's another channel I watch Kelly's Corner and she was remodeling her mobile home on a budget. She bought pain kits to paint her bath tub. I never heard of it before until watching her video. So you might want to try that. Overall I love the organization!!!!

I believe charities like AmVets and Salvation Army have trucks that will come to your house and pick up donations. I live too far out in the country so they wouldn't come to my house, but I know that there are places like that in some area that have pick-up services for donations.

I keep saying I'm gonna head into the garage & mudroom LOL I keep telling myself I need to get those areas done! We're actually going to be working on fixing up the mudroom this Spring/Early Summer super excited about that, the garage isnt horrible, but its not the best either. Not so much stuff, like storing stuff, its mostly tools and Ian bagged up a bunch of insulation (I have no idea where he got it, he said its good and new so im taking his word on it LOL) and threw it in the garage, which makes the garage look way messy. I also have pieces of furniture in there that I was going to DIY, yeah we'll see if that ever happens 🤣🤣I definitely gotta get in there hopefully before end of Spring. That is such a GREAT idea & amazing advice. I struggled to really come up with a solid solution for that particular problem, I honestly dont know what I would do in that situation, but contacting homeless shelters to ask if maybe they could come pick up the donation items, its a great option! American red cross, thrift stores, consignment shops, schools, churches, list fb market place ect. that you have a lot of stuff to sale to a reseller or yard seller person have you a yard sale. Put out on yard say free. Look on line some group was sending free bags out for good used shoes. So sorry you don't have a donation center.

Have you tried paint thinner on the bottom of the bath to get the stains off ? Obviously you will need to rinse and clean thoroughly after but I would lay some kitchen towel in the bottom of the bath soak in paint thinner and leave for half an hour come back scrub off and rinse. ❤ I don’t know whether your bath is plastic or enamel so maybe check first but as it’s stained anyway what do you have to lose?

I'm gonna try that before painting the tub, I really did a number on that tub, I shouldnt have been using the tub when doing DIY projects, I totally ruined it. ugh.
