Top tip for washing machine. Once you’ve emptied the washing out. Leave the door open/ajar. This stops mould building up. Also, after around 4 washes, I always place a washing machine cleaner tablet and run a warm cycle.

Great tip! I use a dishwashing tablet, that works too.

Great tip to leaving the door and drew ajar but the reason it's in that state is because all her washes are done on 30 or 40c. You need to do bedding and towels at 60c this then kills the bacteria. No need for maintenance washes then.

I just get into the habit from buying a new machine of using a cloth to give it a nice wipe over. It really takes seconds, same with dishwasher x

Can some suggest a good washing machine cleaner?

@@hannah-looloo2512 Use persil bio washing powder for whites, towels and bedding. 60c wash temp... Use persil liquid for coloureds and anything else on a 40c. Washing this way means you don't need to do maintenance washes as the powder detergent and higher temps keeps the machine clean. Also don't use fabric softener as it's made from animal fat and rots inside the machine. Use white vinegar as softener just a cap in the drawer is enough and doesn't smell. Maintenance washes has only been a thing since the green agenda started washing at 30c and below! I'd probably as a one off do a boil wash at 90c and above on the machine with nothing in but some powder.

Great vlog Emily. In addition to cleaning the detergent drawer and door seal of the machine I would also empty the drain filter which for me is bottom left of my machine. You would be surprised how much stagnant water is in there. Have a roasting tray and towel to hand to catch the water. You can then clean the stopper and the inside of the drain before replacing it.

A comment on the washer, I use mostly powdered detergent and wash often on 60c and above, I never had mold or other stuff in the boot of the door to the washer. The drawer gets moldy because of fabricsoftner. Liquid detergent are also a contributer to mold and smell in the machine. Run the machine with a cleaner or bleach at least once a month. Love your honesty All the best from Sweden

Well said, fabric softener is animal fat. Hence it goes off and rots.

So satisfying to watch. For my top load washer, the filter at the bottom is usually tge filthiest. This reminds me I need to check mine. Thanks Emily for the inspiration ❤❤

I always leave my washing machine drawer and door open after use . Fabric conditioner also causes a residue build up which can lead to mildew and that musty smell. I also try and remember to clean out my tumble dryer weekly or more as I know the lint can be a fire hazard . All these things to remember is impossible being 46 😂😂 Great video Emily 🎉

That’s such a satisfying and motivating video to watch. You should try to clean your dryer more often - not even to prevent a fire but that helps with drying the clothes. I had no idea about it and when our dryer wasn’t as efficient as it should be I realised it’s because I didn’t clean it enough and now I always do it every 3 months and clothes are drying quicker

Not sure if it is helpful, I take out the drawer completely after day's wash. Wash it in running water to get rid of residue and air dry it. I wipe the drawer slot and make sure it's dry before I put back the drawer. For the rubber, I always wipe dry after each wash and keep the door ajar overnight.

Your tumble dryer there should be a foam filter between the heat exchanger fins and your filter (usually part of the filter) be very careful cleaning this or you will damage the fins. If this becomes blocked it will become less and less efficient.

Here is another thing for you… the shower head needs to go into a 2 gallon Ziploc plastic bag with cleaning vinegar and let sit for a few hours. The same with any other shower heads. The other thing is a fine dental brush which you use in the holes and it will clean it out or break it up. The boys (older ones) can do this for you and help Matt out with chores around the house. This will also help them know later on in life what to do. Also, Thank You for having your boys learn how to clean a house, next thing is doing their own laundry too. This will help their girlfriends and/or wives when they marry and it won’t be all on the women.
