Bl9wn headgaskets are an easy fix. My father got our first Peugeot 403 cheap beca7se the headgaskets had blown and the previous owner thought the car was shot. We drove that car for many more years and miles, including a grand tour of the western states in 1963.

@wolfgangiceclaw
@wolfgangiceclaw Жыл бұрын
@@erynlasgalen1949 A head gasket is and easy fix, IF you have the room to do it. Replacing the head gaskets in that car is a major pain because there is no room to work. The easiest way to replace the head gaskets and install a new timing chain is to drop the entire front sub frame with the engine and transmission from the bottom. Also to make sure the new head gasket doesn't blow again involves installing a head stud kit to replace the head bolts and you must remove the engine to install a stud kit.

@@RodneyFreeman I owned a 91 and 93 Allante. The 93 had the northstar in it and I believe it was one of the first if not the first vehicles it was used in. I drove the car daily pushing it always for well over 100k miles before I traded it on my first 500SL. I never had one single issue with the car mechanically or otherwise other then a few small silly repairs that were all covered by it's long high mileage warranty that it came with from new. Not one issue with the motor or drive train at all. I have read all the opinions online so there must be something to them. Just not my experience at all. It would also seem that the problems some people have had have been blown up and exaggerated by the easiness and accessibility the internet so it comes across way worse then actual reality. Just wanted to share my personal hands on with it and 2 cents realizing I am just one person in the whole experience.

Much like how Carly Anna WX is my go-to KZfaqr for videos on infamous tornadoes. If Mad Detailing and The Detail Geek did a video where the two of them collaborated on detailing a car that video would rack up millions if not billions of views, likes, and comments on KZfaq along with the both of them getting new subscribers.

And then I think, how could something so nice be treated so horribly?! So good to see this car returned to its former glory. Hopefully, it was not abused as bad mechanically as it was cosmetically, and can be enjoyed/appreciated for many years to come. I just can't "buy in" to the throwaway mentality of today.

Very methodical and think about what you’re doing, it’s always good to see. It’s interesting seeing you come, for the most part, to the same process/decision points as I did when getting into it this past year dealing with lots of old and dirty. Most people would freak if they saw how much we’d decide to use the pressure washers on the interior! But of course, best you experiment on your own rides to see what can be done, which is why having different levels/types is always good. What pressure washer(s) you using? After my last Honda 3300 died I took a chance on the electrics again to see if they’d improved. If you haven’t tried them lately, which by the looks I don’t think yours is, at least what you used in the video....it’s a smaller marketed feature, barely two words in description sometimes. Sts (start/stop tech) allows you to operate way less overhead out the gate, less water/risk of damage, throw a cover over it and almost no noise, and without waste I go to/use it in less than 2 seconds at any given time. Always being hyper ready to go then causes me to use it/clean more things better/cheaper. Excuse the chatter if you’re on top of it. Good work my man, keep taking pride in what you do.

So I have a question I've been wondering for a long time. When detailing, I see so many people clean the dash, then cover up the dash, and clean the steering wheel. Wouldn't it be easier to just clean the steering wheel first, then you wouldn't have to cover up the dash and worry about stuff flying off the steering wheel on to the dash? Maybe there's a reason, or maybe it's just easier, just curious.

@@rickyrips9086 I apologize for my ignorance, but how would spraying on the steering wheel and rubbing down the steering wheel scratch the instrument cluster? My question is, why not wash the steering wheel first, you'll get overspray on the instrument cluster, and then just use the overspray to clean the cluster itself? It'd save time, it'd save needing to cover the instrument cluster itself, etc. Just seems like the best way to do it, but again, I'm not detailer, so maybe I'm missing something.

I know in my teen years I would do this with my cars. Un-bolt the seats, the whole shebang. Took me 8 hours and I didn't have any of the fancy tools but just a shop vac and wash rags. So if you cut the time down by using the proper equipment and then give it a semi-pro ($65) to pro ($125) that might help you put a number on it. I figure it would take 3 to 4 hours to detail right, which from me 30 years ago until this video I've never seen done again. Hope that helps. I'm no detailer so when you add in the cost of materials, chemicals & waxes, I'm sure those costs can rise. I know I'd gladly pay for someone to properly detail my vehicle. I paid over $100 for a hack job and they missed an entire half being 1 of 2 cup holders was clean and 2 rims weren't even cleaned... I paid more in tips to a kid that did a better job at a regular car wash and even brought my 2nd car so he could finish it after the cheap wash run-through.

During the video I could not help but acknowledge how refined the doorhandles appeared. For if I had not laid eyes upon such simplistic yet graceful mechanisms I would have most likely continued to mindlessly scroll my life away on various social media networks. Yet there I was, in the midst of something so majestic that there were no words known to man that would be capable of describing what was on the screen before me. I truly thank all who contributed in the production of this film.

Same here. I noticed how elegant and the door handles are on a coworker's Buick LaCrosse when she gave me a ride home from work.

I have two of these Devilles a base and a DTS so I just love seeing this old girl getting some love. and WOW what a transformation. It is a good case to save her from what would have otherwise been a definite date with a crusher

I usually just use an iron eraser on my wheels. They're powder coated black. So they come out looking really good afterwards. Love the vids bro. Always always satisfied watching them. And always makes me do a full detail on my car after I watch them. Mad love from Gainesville Georgia

Great editing too, very enjoyable video to watch. I like that your video had more time devoted to exterior, other KZfaqrs spend about 95% on interior detail and breeze through the exterior in like 1 minute. I like that you said what products you are using and which polishers. Great tips on carpet, dye, steamer, iron remover, and other helpful tips. You are a great detailer and a great video editor 🙂

@@MADDETAILING This video was uploaded just a day before my birthday and I consider it to be an awesome early birthday present. Seeing this Cadillac DeVille being restored to its former glory made me smile and I just hope that whoever has managed to purchase it was able to successfully solve the problem with the drivers window.
