One quick correction: unless the band is capable of time travel, "True Love Waits" did not wait 50 years to have a studio recording. It was actually 20 years. Thanks everyone for watching!

Levi Beam Who in their right mind would actually believe one of the biggest rock bands of all times came up with their name because instead of them being actual human beings, they’re made of invisible, long form radio waves??? Me. I’m in my right mind, and Radiohead did NOT get their name from the 1988 Talking Heads song “Radio Head” from their album True Stories, but it’s because they’re actual made of radio waves. David Byrne is made of radio waves too that’s why he’s so good at dancing.

Fun fact I learnt from Thom's Desert Island Disc (the radio show not the song) apparently while in Sixth Form (Age 16-18 education in UK) Thom entered a songwriting competition, though not fully confident on his own, he also asked Ed to attach his name to it, and lo and behold he won and was offered a record contract which he declined because he felt he wasn't ready and instead wanted to go to university. Wow, this man really does take perverse pleasure in saying f**k you to this decaying business model.

People who don't like King of Limbs didn't watch the from the basement sessions. When KOL came out people were all "It's all loops where's the band?" And when you watch all 5 members plus the 6th member all performing it together and everyone in the pocket with their own instruments shows how cohesive the band can be. The fact that all 6 members can perform it and you question where's the band shows how amazing they are playing together.

I heard Radiohead for the first time this year, started with MSP, because the album art was so so cool, and also cuz I didn't know of Radiohead or their best albums or anything....so the name of the band meant nothing to me really. But, best believe when I tell you, that rainy night's droning with just a lone streetlight shining onto my front yard, giving everything I could see a sorta silver lining, while listening to this oh so serene and beautiful album is one the most magical musical experiences I've ever had.

Well it's been eight months, have you explored their other albums? My favorite is "In Rainbows", from the first note to the last, it is perfection. I can think of no greater out of body experience for me musically, then the last 60 ish seconds of "Reckoner", damn near kills me every time.

@@mariannecontrino6297 yesss.....ive listened to kid a, amnesiac and in ranbows since......and yess, in rainbows is also my fave from this bunch(havent listened to okc sooo idk) but i had a better first experience listening to msp.....idk maybe because the radiohead sound was novel to me at the time and i didnt know what to expect....but i still think in rainbows is near perferct(which is not the case with msp) which is why its my fave.....and yess again, reckoner is sooo good, reckoner and 15 step were the standouts after my first listen......thom's wailing vocals with the strings at the end is absolutely gorgeous...definitely one of my favourite radiohead songs

@ghost mall in hindsight msp was the perfect entry point for me given my musical journey and taste upto that point....i was the type to prefer a sad piano over a raging guitar...and thats when i heard msp with its forlorn synths and sweeping strings and Thom's wailing vocals, and i knew id found something special , especially with the vocals, i was mesmerised...

Agreed. The video presenter here wasn’t even born yet. But my friends and I were into these guys with the release of Pablo Honey. Even today I enjoy listening to it as the guitar driven tracks are still quite good and several of the songs would land into a Radiohead Top-50. When The Bends came out we saw they made some great advances in musicianship and style, which is nice to see a band get better. Doesn’t mean Pablo is poo. For these young kids, I could see how they might not appreciate it. In the same way I will never appreciate BTS.

Just chiming in to say that The King of Limbs was actually the album that got me to creating music of my own - the loop-based approach made making music at home on my laptop seem like a possibility and the complex/messy sounding rhythms really excited me to try something similar. I was definitely already aware of Radiohead & on the Radiohead train when I heard it, so it wasn't my first album by them or anything but it definitely has a special place in my heart!

Great video. Here is my rating of their albums from worst to best ranking for anyone who cares to have a wee read. :) 9 - Pablo Honey:- Still a good album, just nothing special considering what the band would later create. 8 - Hail to the Thief:- Great album but sometimes feels almost a product of it's time which is strange for Radiohead. 7 - Amnesiac:- Falls slightly short of Kid A for me but not the unfinished mess some critics would have you believe. 6 - The Kind of Limbs:- I can understand why people think this is their weakest, but after listening to their basement session of this album, I find it to be a genuinely strong album. The track Bloom is what anxiety feels like in audio form, feels like a shoe string is holding the track together. 5 - Kid A:- My most controversial opinion being that Kid A is not in the top 3. I still love and adore this album, it's just not one that I have on repeat, unlike the next 4 albums. It did absolutely push the band forward and is an essential part of the bands growth. It's one I don't listen to as often as others but it works best with breathing room between listens. 4 - The Bends:- I find The Bends to be under-rated amongst fans. To me it improves upon Pablo Honey massively and is probably the easiest album for newcomers to the band. It's maybe my most listened to Radiohead record because sometimes it's easy to listen to what is sometimes considered to be "generic alt rock". Fake Plastic Trees was the first Radiohead song I think I ever heard so it stands out to me for that reason. 3 - A Moon Shaped Pool:- Probably one of the most depressing albums ever created but also sounds like what grief can sound like. I understand that it can sometimes sound a little broody but there are some incredibly beautiful sounds on here. It's hard to recommend to newcomers but as a certified sad boi, I adore it and it used to be my number 2. 2 - In Rainbows:- Just simply gorgeous. Another good one to recommend to newcomers as the album has a lot of pleasant pop melodies. The track Nude has to be in my top 5 songs by the band. They also have a "live from the basement" recording of the album and is somehow even better than the record. Really shows the band as one of the tightest sounding bands of all time. 1 - OK Computer:- There's literally nothing I can say that hasn't already been said. Part of me is a little pissed off that this is my favourite album and that I don't have a more "interesting" number 1, but let that be a testament to this albums incredible long-lasting appeal and greatness. My favourite Song is hard to pick because the whole album is great song after great song. No Surprises maybe makes it as my favourite Radiohead song but it's close.

Sorry mate I Got Absolutely Different Taste Than You 1. Kid A Cold, Electronic, Amtospeariac, betifull, cinematic, Robotic but full of humanity and How To Dissapear theere best song in my opiniom And Ideoteque is top 10 song by Them 2. In rainbows, Crazy time sigaitures, warm, depressed but more chill, happy and Peacefull sounding record , Nude is My Second Favorite song by Them and Jigsaw Falling into place is top 10 song by them 3. Ok Coumpter i feel as if its less ambitiounious, amtospearsiac and expremential than My Top 2 less constiant its betufall But honestlty the only top 10 song By Radiohead in this lp and keep in mind thats my third Radiohead song which would be No Suprises 4. A moon Shaped Pool, Day Dreaming is my fourth song by them, its a sad, atsopeareisac Ass Album with some of the most Solid Radiohead Songs 5. The Bends alittle alt rocky but as you said underated and Fake Plastic Trees competle My Top 5 Radiohead songs its just solid as fuck 6. Hail To The Theif poltical, Awesome, Alittle Too long but out Kid A And In Rainbows its got the 2 Of my Top Ten Radiohead Tracks which are Theere Theere and 2+2=5 i want to put it higher Radiohead has just Out better work 7. Aminesiac, though more minmal and Clastorphobic than Kid A its Less Constant, Unique and Sounds like it cant decide if it wants to be its own Thing or Kid A, But Pyrmaid Song is a Top Ten Radiohead song Easily 8. Kings Of limbs, The Loops and all that crap can be repetive but its still pretty solid if a bit hit or miss Lotus Flower is my favorite song and that dont even crank my top 20 honestly 9. Pablo Honey, Boring, Dulll, Generic, alt rock, some like this album i dont, Creep is Generic the Rest of the album is even more standard And Generic than That
