A great insight as always. It did make me think of a question. I see on the 'Mean graph' at 14:13 of the video the average temp is (approx) 13.2 give or take a fraction. It was mentioned the previous June record was back in 1940. My question is, what was the average back then ?? & how will this June's record influence the average for next June?

Clearly the jet stream is a very significant factor influencing our weather. I’d be keen to learn more about it. What are the factors which determine the position and strength of the jet stream? Is it’s height and depth constant or can it droop and stretch?

@Mykst
@Mykst Жыл бұрын
You're comparing two entirely different climates with one another. AZ is a dry, desert state with high temperatures but often with low humidity where-as the UK is a temperate climate that is often humid with heavy influence from the ocean. So already here we have two different types of heat that feel largely different from one another. Another point to mention is the UK's northerly latitude. We are pretty much on the latitude of southern and central Canada so naturally the average UK temperature is low as you'd expect. People here are simply not used to temperatures that far exceed their national average values and this is something that is happening more frequently nowadays. Just as an example someone from near the equator could travel to a colder climate and 50F will feel cold to that person where-as to someone native it will feel mild.

Can you make any comment on the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Haʻapai eruption? It put a lot of water into the stratosphere which I believe creates a greenhouse effect, warming the Planet. Opposed to sulphur dioxide which has the opposite effect. Is the eruption contributing to the warm weather we are having this summer, particularly after a milder-than-normal winter?
